In dispensational theology the dispensation of promise is also called family or patriarchal.

The dispensation of promise was from the call of Abraham to Israel's arrival at Mt. Sinai, where the Law was given.

During this time God spoke to Abraham and calls out a people and gives them promises. These promises were not given to a specific nation, NOT every nation.
