Sinning In Holy Things

After giving commands related offerings for other types of trespasses, in this passage God gives details for dealing with trespasses involving holy things. The judgment is more severe for sinning unintentionally regarding the holy things of God. First, it requires restitution to be made, so the holy things would include tithes and offerings. If physical loss was suffered in holy things, you had to add an additional fifth to it to make restitution for the harm that you caused. It must be brought in silver to the priest. In addition to making restitution, a ram needed to be offered. A ram was a bigger offering than was required for the other trespass offerings and it was always required. There was no opportunity to substitute a lesser offering if you sinned in holy things. We should remember how seriously God takes the things that are related to His church and His worship.
