Superior to the Angels

64 ( 30 | 34 )

After declaring the supremacy of Christ in the overarching offices of prophet, priest and king in the first three verses, the writer of Hebrews begins to detail Christ's superiority in specific ways. In verse 4 he begins by declaring His supremacy over the angels. The angels in the OT were synonymous with the giving of God's law at Sinai. However, Christ is the greater revealer of God's law as He fulfilled it. Therefore, He inherited a greater name, Son. This was the fulfillment of the promised made to David that his lineage would be the one who would fulfill the role of king for His people.
