Truth and Unity in the Church

The two and one-half tribes whose land lay east of the Jordan had been faithful to their brothers, as Joshua commanded them in 1:12-15, for they recognized the unity of Israel under the promises of God. This chapter dramatically presents the basis of that unity (verse 34) and the nature of the ever-present threat to it; namely, "turning away from the Lord" (verse 18), which would bring God's wrath on Israel, as had the unfaithfulness of Achan (7:20).
