That The Purpose of Election Might Continue

Israel's hardening in unbelief was not a failure of God's Word to fulfill its intended purpose, nor was it an act of injustice on God's part since Israel bore the full responsibility for her sins. Rather, Israel's unbelief was evidence that God has his own purpose in election and this purpose is to show forth his power and mercy to whomever he chooses. Any attempt to explain or understand Israel's unbelief apart from God's purpose in election denies God's absolute sovereignty and his prerogative in salvation.
