Good afternoon everyone. Today is the 18th of March. It's Tuesday afternoon. It's about 4.15 and Mark's been reading through the book of Romans. Today we're going to be reading through the 8th chapter of Romans. I call this the Golden Chain of Salvation chapter. This is a very powerful chapter that teaches the doctrine of predestination election, which isn't taught very much anymore. It starts out by saying that there is no condemnation of them which are in Christ Jesus. who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit, for the law of the spirit of life. And Christ Jesus hath made us free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the spirit do things of the spirit. to be carnally mined is death, but to be spiritually mined is life and peace, because the carnal mind is enmity against God. It is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then, that it is in the flesh cannot please God, but ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit. If so, be the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And Christ be in you. The body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit of life is because of righteousness. But the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raiseth up passionately shall also quicken your mortal bodies by a spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For we live after the flesh, ye shall die, but if ye through the spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For we have not received the spirit of bondage, ye can defend, but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father, the Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. And if children and heirs, heirs of God, join heirs with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together for our reckoning, that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waited for the manifestation of the Son of God. Sons of God, for the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him that subjected the same in hope. Because the creature itself also should be delivered from the bondage and corruption of the glorious liberty that is shown in God. For we know that the whole creation, grown with them, prevailed with them, playing together till now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit. Even we ourselves, grown within ourselves, are waiting for the adoption and the redemption of our bodies. For we are saved by hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that which we see not, then do we patience wait for it? Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with feelings which cannot be uttered, and he that serves the heart knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God, and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God to them who are called according to his purpose now from the 29th verse all the way down through verse 39 we're going to see the golden chain of salvation presented. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate, to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover, whom he did predestinate, them he also called, and whom he called, them he also justified, and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we say of these things, if God be for us? Who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not also freely give us all things. Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies, who is it that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea, rather that it is risen again. It is even if the right hand of God will also make an intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Of tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long. We are counted as the sheep for the slaughter. then all these things we are more than conquerors to him that loveth us, for I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. Wow! Some pretty heavy teachings from Romans 8, 29 through 39. So I'm going to turn this over to Mark and have him read this again to you. Hopefully it will be a blessing to you. Romans 9 chapter is 8. Therefore know now, Jericho, the foundation of which are in Christ Jesus, not walking after the flesh, but after the spirit, the law, and the spirit of life. Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death, for what the law could not do, and that it was weak through the flesh. God sent his own Son, the likeness of the Son of the flesh, and condemned sin in the flesh. The righteousness of the law might be fulfilled on us who walk after the flesh, but not after the spirit. They are after the flesh to be reminded of the things of the flesh, but they are the spirit of the things of the spirit. Be carnally reminded that it is death, but be spiritually reminded that it is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, there is not the seventh law of God, neither in me can be. So then that they are in the flesh cannot please God. But ye are not of the flesh, but the Spirit of Sobe, the Spirit of God, dwells in you. Now if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Christ being you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness. The Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you. He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit to dwell within you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors not to the flesh, but to live after the flesh. For we live after the flesh, ye shall die, and through the Spirit, the immortal body is the body ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the Spirit of bondage against the fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, I have a Father. The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. And Christ and heirs, heirs of God, join heirs with Christ. If so, it be that we suffer with him, and may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed on us from the interspecting expectation of the creature of which we are commanded to face temptation. The creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who has rejected the same in hope. Because the creature itself shall also be delivered from the bondage of corruption and the glorious theory of the children of God. For we know, the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption and with the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope, but hope that is seen is not hope. For what a man seeth, why doth he get hope for? But if we hope for that which we see not, then deal with patience, wait for it. Likewise, the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities, for we know not what we should pray for, if we ought. The Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the heart knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. We know that all things work together for good to them that love God and to them who are called according to His purpose. For who He did foreknow, He could also be predestined to form the image of His Son, that we might be the firstborn among many brethren. For over whom He did predestinate this, He also called unto whom He called. Him He also justified, and whom He justified, Him He also glorified. What shall we then say to these things, if God be for us, who could be against us? He that spared not His own Son delivered up for us all. How shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay anything the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is He that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea, rather. It is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long, we are counted as sheep in slaughter. Nay, in all things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am assured that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creatures shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Okay, thank you. Here you go Mark. Just one second. Okay so, whenever you get discouraged, my recommendation would be to go back to Romans 8 and read verses 28-39. God bless.
