The Anointed Redeemer

Last week we examined the significance of the the name "Jesus" this week the title "Christ." Simply put this word means "anointed one" or is the Greek version of Hebrew word, "Messiah." Within this name we find the wealth of the Gospel, past, present and future captured and communicated to the Church. Christ is the only Redeemer as He fulfills the offices of prophet, priest and king and even as He has fulfilled the work of redemption, He applies to us all the benefits that befit each office. This is what it means to be a Christian, this is what it means to belong to Christ, to share in all His benefits and to honor the Lord as those who being freed from sin live a life of sincere devotion to the Lord.
