You know what, I don't think
I'm gonna play the guitar for this song. All right, y'all, come on in,
come on in. Come on in, we're running a wee
bit behind the schedule. I think we've been running behind
schedule ever since Eric silenced his phone. Oh, wait a minute. No, we've been running behind
schedule ever since we moved our clocks forward. Come on in. All right, teenagers. Your fearless leader will be
with us eventually. All right, he's he's running
a little behind. He caught a car on fire on the highway. I mean,
there was a car on fire on the highway, and it slowed him down.
Not his and he wasn't involved. It just slowed him down. I was
I was kidding about that. We're live, aren't we? Yeah,
okay. So No names mentioned, I guess. All right, we're gonna sing,
oh, for a thousand tongues to sing. It's hymn number 116, and
we're gonna sing an acapella. Maybe. It's up to Pastor G. Think we can swing it? All right. Oh, for a thousand tongues to
sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His praise. My gracious Master and my God,
assist me to proclaim to spread through all the earth abroad
the honors of Thy name. Jesus, the name that charms our
fears, that bids our sorrows cease, tis music in the sinner's
ears to his life and health and peace. He breaks the power of
canceled sin. He sets the prisoner free. His blood can make the foulest
clean. His blood availed for me. Hear Him ye deaf, His praise
ye dumb, Your loosened tongues employ, Ye blind behold your
Savior come, And leap ye lame for joy. Amen. It's a real short song. A lot of verses, but only two
lines per verse. So, all right. We have, let's
see, we don't have any missionary letters right now. Okay, so we'll,
who has seen the mission display board out front? All right. If you have not seen it, you
want to go see it. Not right now. After service. And it's, it's nice. It's nice.
So right now we have windows open for fresh air. And so we're going to enjoy some
fresh air. And hopefully y'all y'all have
has anybody ever heard a baby crying before? What do you do? Sometimes you just live with
it. And that's okay. It's okay. It's totally okay.
But if we if we do have too many distractions, we'll close the
windows. But I mean, you never know what you might be letting
in when you open windows. Somebody's gonna crawl in that window after
Pastor G in a minute over there. So yeah. So anyhow, so Oh yeah, it's all fenced in.
There's two fences there, yeah. So Pastor G, professional fencer
over here. All right, we're gonna pray and
open the service. Anybody have a particular missionary on their
heart? Particular missionary, anybody, anybody? Brother Bella,
who you got? The Youngs had a baby like a
year ago, yeah. Pretty recent. Almost almost
like nine ten months ago. Yeah but if you want to pray
for the youngs you can and Who do you have? The hazel woods. All right missionaries the military
Isaac you won't pray for the hazel woods for us. I The Hazelwoods, you don't know
who they are? You know the people that we... Just pray that God
will bless them, that's all. It doesn't have to be too specific. I mean, he's praying for a good
recovery from having a baby a year ago. So, you know, that's okay. You can pray about their bunk
beds we built for them, like in August. Are there not from
Nigeria? No, yeah. Yeah, I think they're
from Georgia, or maybe one of them is from Ohio, one of them
is from Georgia. Yes, sir. Anybody else? Anybody? All right. All right, Brother Bella, why
don't you pray for the Youngs, and then Isaac, you can pray for
the Hazelwoods. Dear Lord, I just want to say thank you for looking
at Young. I want to say thank you that
they had their baby over a year ago now, and I pray that that baby
be embraced in your name. and grow up to serving. And Lord,
I pray that you just trust them and keep them home and take care
of their needs in my area and help them to reach many souls
in Jesus name. Lord, we thank you so much for
your many blessings, Lord, for the blessings that you bestow
on your servants. And we thank you, Lord, for the
missionaries that we support. Lord, we think of the Helms and
the Hewlett's there in Alaska. Lord, we pray that you'd bless
their ministry. The Hazelwoods, as Brother Isaac already prayed
for. Howard's there in Utah and the Lord we think of the the
Normans over in England and Lord we pray that you'd bless the
work there that they're doing as they cover for the Tules and
Lord we think about the of course we prayed for the youngs as well
and then the Roberts in South Africa Lord we pray that you'd
bless them and then Lord our missionaries in the Philippines
the tar waters and or we just pray Father that you'd bless
them Lord and that you'd continue to provide for the labor that
you have for them and the work there. We pray specifically for
Brother Labongre's youth revival that he's gonna have at the beginning
of April. We pray Father that you'd provide
the funding for that as he needs to raise, I think, around $300
to be able to do that. We pray Father that you would
bless and provide for that. And Lord, we just pray that you
bless the service tonight. Meet with us, Lord. We pray for
those that are on their way, that you'd get them here safely.
And Lord, we pray, Father, that you'd watch over the vehicles,
that there would not be any issues or anything like that. We look
forward to all that you're gonna do. In Jesus' name, amen. All right. Let's sing another
song. How about 341? 341. Or somewhere near there. How about 341? That'll work.
Yeah, sure. You can stand. Stretch your legs. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah brother
Terry you got to grab your toes and pull on them that'll stretch
your legs All right victory in Jesus How's everybody doing I heard an old, old story How
a Savior came from glory How He gave His life on Calvary To
save a wretch like me I heard about His groaning Of His precious
blood's atoning Then I repented of my sins and won the victory,
O victory in Jesus my Savior forever. He sought me and bought
me with His redeeming blood. He loved me ere I knew Him, and
all my love is due Him. He plunged me to victory beneath
the cleansing flood. I heard about His healing, of
His cleansing power revealing. How He made the lame to walk
again, and He caused the blind to see. And then I cried, Dear
Jesus, come and heal my broken heart. me the victory. Oh, victory in Jesus my Savior
forever. He sought me and bought me. Praise God! He loved me ere I
knew Him, And all my love is to Him. He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood. I heard about a mansion He has
built for me in glory. And I heard about the streets
of gold beyond the crystal sea About the angels singing and
the old redemption story And some sweet day I'll sing up there
the song of victory Oh, victory in Jesus, my Savior forever. He sought me and bought me with
His redeeming blood. Praise God, He loved me ere I
knew Him, and all my love is to Him. He plunged me to victory
beneath the cleansing flood. Alright, good, good stuff there. I'm trying to, Brother Bella
said we had to reintroduce the greeting time, so I have to do
what Brother Bella says, so. I'm just kidding. But I thought
it was a good idea, you know, it's it's not a bad not a bad
idea to reintroduce the greeting time You know if we know that
a bunch of people are sick It's it's probably a better idea to
do what we just did wave, you know, hey, how's it going? You
know, so Upcoming events. It's in your bulletin except
there's a couple thing. Well, there's just one thing
really brother quick will be with us next Sunday, so Brother
Quick will be with us next Sunday, amen? And so y'all be ready for
that. It'll be a good time. It'll be
a good time. Brother Travis will be teaching
Sunday school. Brother Quick will be with us for the morning
service. And other than that, everything else is in the bulletin.
If we missed anything, we'll give you a call and let you know,
all right? Amen. Well, let's make ready
for the offering. Oh, yeah. You coming to the pulpit
or the piano? All right. I'll snag this out
of the way here. All right, Brother Ezra, I want
you to lead us in prayer for the offering real quick here.
Thank you Lord Jesus. I pray in the name of the Father,
the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and with my dad, my brother,
and with my family. Thank you and God bless you.
When Jesus comes to reward his servants, whether it be noon
or night, faithful to him will he find us watching with our
lamps all trimmed and bright. Oh, can we say we are ready,
brother, ready for the soul's bright home? Say, will he find you and me
still watching, waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come? Blessed are those whom the Lord
finds watching, in his glory they shall share. If he shall come at the dawn
or midnight, will he find us watching there? Oh, can we say we are ready,
brother, ready for the soul's bright home? Say, will he find you and me
still watching, waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come? Amen. Are y'all ready? Ready for the
Lord to come. Amen. Let's sing showers of blessing.
Turn to 335 335. Y'all know we can sing that song
when it's not raining outside. Yes. Yeah, that's right. There should be showers of blessing.
Contrary to some belief, we're not actually singing about rain.
It's showers of blessing. Amen. All right. 335. There shall be showers of blessings,
this is the promise of love. There shall be seasons refreshing,
sent from the Savior above. Showers of blessings, showers
of blessings we need. Mercy drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead. There shall be showers of blessing,
Precious reviving again, Over the hills and the valleys, Sound
of abundance of rain. Showers of blessing, Showers
of blessing we need, Mercy drops around us are falling, but for
the showers we flee. There shall be showers of blessing,
Send them upon us, O Lord. Grant to us now a refreshing,
Come and now honor Thy Word. Showers of blessing, Showers
of blessing we need. Mercy drops round us are calling,
But for the showers we plead. There shall be showers of blessing,
O that today they might fall. Now as to God we're confessing,
now as on Jesus we call. Showers of blessing, showers
of blessing we need. Mercy drops around us are falling,
but for the showers we plead. Amen. Y'all able to breathe through
that song? I guess banging on the guitar
makes it harder to breathe. All right, teens, go ahead and
head on out. And everybody else, we're gonna get started on our
study here. I did not print copies of the study page. So if you
don't have one, I'm sorry. It's your fault. I'm kidding. You can order the book if you
need to. But we're on the back of the page that I did copy The
last two weeks There are a couple extra on the back table. So first
first two of them gets them so And I've got this this window
open back here, but I've got the blinds down so that I don't
blind y'all right see if we do that if I put the blinds up it's
like this you know so I figure y'all don't want that so we went
ahead and left them put them down but that means that it's
going to be blowing around so if it becomes too much of a distraction
just let me know I'll close the windows no big deal so all right
we're going to be there at point number two this is uh oh did
you say did you have this set as As part two or three. Good. Good. All right. Part.
It is part three. So we are looking at the two
resurrections. OK, so the two resurrections
so far, we've just looked at the fact of resurrection, the
fact that it is a thing that it does happen. Right. Resurrection happens and it will
happen. Right. So we looked at Old Testament
examples and proofs of resurrection New Testament proofs of resurrection. And and then we also looked at
references about the resurrection to come. All right. So now in
In our next point, we're looking at the importance of the resurrection.
It's important. It's not something that we just
say, oh yeah, yeah, you know, resurrection, it's a thing, it
happens, you know. But rather, we want to emphasize
its importance. Our study here says the importance
of the Christian's resurrection is seen in the resurrection of
the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ's resurrection is both
important and essential because three things. And this is what
we'll cover tonight. And maybe, maybe we'll get into
the third main point. Probably not. But we'll look
here, especially at these three points. And that is, it is essential. So I'll read that sentence again or that phrase
again. Christ's resurrection is both important and essential
because It declared number one it declared or letter a it declared
his death to have been of redeeming value letter B. It declares the
extent of power available to us and letter C or the third
one there. It declares the fact of our own
resurrection and so In that first point now, most of this really
would be best handled in 1st Corinthians 15. Did y'all remember
we read that whole chapter last week, didn't we? We're not going
to do that this week. All right. Y'all have it all
memorized from last week, right? Everybody's got it. All right.
First Corinthians 15. You got it all down. Only 58
verses. So easy to remember, right? Eight verses from First Corinthians
15 or 858 verses from First Corinthians 15. Now, we can leave the front
door open, it's fine, but we just had to tell people to not
slam doors going in and out, but that's okay. Well, I'll go
out there and slam the door too. I'm just kidding. You know, it's
a beautiful, beautiful day. If we were out in the sun, I
would almost be totally fine with doing this class outside.
But it's too late. We already started and here we
are. So you're all stuck in here. Yeah, Brother Travis is outside.
He's having class out there. So teens get to have all the
fun, right? As the guy on It's a Wonderful Life said, you know,
youth is wasted on the young. So I'm kidding there. Anyhow,
number two here that we're looking at is the importance of the resurrection. It's important and essential
because it declared the death of Christ to have been of redeeming
value. Think about this. Think about
this. Every religious leader in history
has died. None of them have come back except
Jesus. And he's not a religious leader,
but founder of his church, right? And so everyone, you know, Buddha's
died. He's still dead, right? Confucius, he's dead. Joseph
Smith, he's dead. Macaroni, you know, his buddy,
he's dead. No, I'm kidding. Who else here? There's, I mean, every founder
of every, Mary Baker Eddy, she's dead. Who? Ellen White. Oh, yeah. If she's not dead someday. Yeah, Joseph Smith, we already
mentioned. Yeah. So, I mean, every, every, hey, every president
up, you know, way back when, they, none of them, you know,
obviously we've got, we've got some that are still around, right?
But all the ones that have died, you know, great leader or not,
they're dead. They didn't come back. Right? I mean, all of human history.
If you look, you get the theme of every man's life in Genesis. If you want to turn over to Genesis
here. The very beginning. Yep, that's where we're going,
brother. You know it. Genesis chapter 5. Verse number three is where we'll
begin here and try to get a whole gallon of water in tonight. All right. Genesis chapter five
and verse number three says an Adam lived and a hundred and
thirty years and begat a son in his own likeness after his
image and called his name Seth. And the days of Adam after he
had begotten Seth were eight hundred years and he begat sons
and daughters and all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred
and thirty years and he died. And I'm going to just kind of
skim and hit some highlights here. OK Seth. Seth lived. He had a son named Enos. And
then he died. Enos lived, he had a son named
Canaan, and then Enos died. Canaan lived for a while. He
had a son named Mahalaleel. And then you know what? Canaan
died. And then Mahalaleel had, he lived
a while, had a son named Jared. And then Mahalalil died. And
then Jared had a son named Enoch. And then Jared died. Now, Enoch
is kind of, you know, the exception to the rule, okay? So Enoch,
you know, he had a son, Methuselah. And then Enoch didn't die, but
he left. And he didn't come back. He's
still gone, all right? I wouldn't come back either.
I don't blame him. I don't blame him. Well, he didn't leave, God took
him. And then Methuselah, he lived a real long time. And you know, Lamech, he came
along, you know, after so many years. And then guess what happened
to Methuselah? He lived 969 years. And then
what happened? He died. He died. Hmm. Then Lamech, Lamech had a son
named Noah. And you know what? Lemic died.
You know, Noah lived through a flood where everybody else
in the world died, but his family. And then you know what? After
that, he died. And Shem, Ham, and Japheth, his
sons, they died, too. Yeah. And then you know what?
You get you get further into like in Chapter 10 here. I mean,
every person named in the Bible died. Except Elijah and Enoch. Everybody died. They didn't all
get shot. They all died, though. They all
died. Everybody that's lived up to
this point and isn't currently living has died. I know that
sounds kind of funny, right? It doesn't sound funny, but it
sounds kind of strange that you'd say, well, of course they're
not alive. They're dead, right? But Jesus,
when he died, death could not hold him. And it is extremely important. It is extremely important that
He had to raise from the dead. It is extremely important for
Him to have raised from the dead because it proved that His sacrifice
was sufficient. It proved that death could not
hold Him. It proved that death could not
conquer Him. It proved that He was with God. And in 1 Corinthians 15 and verse
number 17, it says, If Christ be not raised, your faith is
vain, ye are yet in your sins. If He didn't raise from the dead,
we would have no hope. No hope of salvation. No hope
of justification. No hope of being made right with
God. If it wasn't for the resurrection
of Jesus Christ, you know, His death wouldn't
have been that big of a thing. He'd be like 107 billion other
people that have come and gone. But He's not like 107 billion
other people that have come and gone. He's God. And God, though He laid down
His life for us, could not be held by the grips of death. He rose
again. And it is really, really important. I know we meet on the first day
of the week because we recognize the importance of the resurrection
of Jesus Christ. It's not because it's Sunday. It's not because other people
met on the first day of the week other than the disciples, right?
The disciples, the followers of Jesus, they met the first
day of the week. Why? Because it's the day He rose
again. They called it the Lord's Day.
Why do we call this the Lord's Day? Every day is his day, but
they specifically called the first day of the week, the Lord's
Day, not Easter, not Resurrection Sunday. The first day of every
week is the Lord's Day. Now, yeah, we'll we'll take advantage
of the opportunity to celebrate it even more, you know, when
it's nice and and beautiful out and it's and the temperature
is getting just a wee bit cool. I think I might start closing
some windows in a second. Right. First day of the week,
we ought to be given the beginning of our week to Him. Yes. But
the reality is, it is set as the first day of the week because
we're remembering that Jesus rose on the first day of the
week. And it's exciting that Jesus rose again, that He didn't
stay in the grave. Alright, y'all, shield your eyes for just a second. Alright. I was just catching
a breeze there. I didn't wanna put my coat on.
Some of y'all are already cold. So, Pastor G, are you okay? If you get a chill, you can close
that one. It's fine. Um or if if if anybody else gets
like really cold, just do this and then Pastor G will close
the window, alright? So, The resurrection of Christ is
of absolute importance. And I keep saying that over and
over again. How do you emphasize something
more than just repeating it? It's important. I don't know, think about this.
Think about where you were before you got saved. And think about
where you would be today if it wasn't for Jesus Christ dying
for your sin, being buried, and raising again the third day.
Think about where you would be today if it wasn't for that. Now, He didn't raise again just
for you, but He did. He rose again because he's God.
He couldn't stay dead. But beyond that, though, and
and even and in addition to that, for us, we we get to think about,
I mean, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be I wouldn't
be in good shape. Now, and you might say, well,
you know, I was brought up well and everything was good. You
wouldn't have been if Jesus didn't raise from the dead. There probably
wouldn't be like the United States of America if Jesus didn't raise
from the dead. I'm not saying that Jesus founded
the country. But. If you think about. How much history would have been
different? If Jesus hadn't raised from the dead. Would His disciples
have suffered martyrdom if He didn't raise from the dead? Maybe not. Wouldn't have been
such a ruckus. That was the message that was
preached. That Christ, the son of God,
he rose from the dead. I mean, that was the big thing.
That was the big deal, right? And that was what through the
book of Acts, you see the leadership. They're saying, you know, when
Paul's arrested, he says, the one king speaking to the other
king, he says, or politician, we'll just put it that way. It's
just simple. The one politician speaking to the other politician,
he says, well, what's he in here for? He said, well, we would
have let him go. You know, he's just they're just
talking about differences of opinion that they're talking
about this Jesus whom the Jews say is dead, who Paul says rose
again. And then they've got a problem
with that. And. That's that's the thing, but
think about it. Think about what wouldn't be.
That Israel would still be. Scattered because that was a
that was a Jewish thing that scattering. But think about what
wouldn't be. Well, there would be no Catholicism
because they wouldn't have a Christianity to overtake. They wouldn't have
the cross wouldn't mean anything. You realize thousands and thousands
of people died on crosses. There was nothing unique about
dying on a cross in Rome, in Roman under Roman rule, nothing
unique about dying on a cross. Thieves died on the cross. Murderers
died on crosses. Lots of people died on crosses.
It was a pretty common thing, really. So what's the big deal? Well,
He's one who died on the cross and didn't stay dead. You realize,
like, dying through crucifixion is not something that one could
recover from. In fact, simply proposing the
possibility, I've heard people say, well, you know, Jesus didn't,
He didn't really die. You know, they just pretended He died and
they took Him away. Like, okay. So, they ripped the
flesh off His back. Bones exposed. Probably could
see His ribs as He was breathing through His back there. You could probably see His lungs
even, possibly, through the ribs in His back there. the crown
of thorns on his head and then Nailing them to the cross and
you know when you're nailed to to a cross the the way that they
die is from suffocation and So the the the arms, you know, it's
hard for me to hold my arms up like this for a long time, right?
But the arms would be nailed on there and you're not just
holding your arms up You're actually holding your whole body up the
weight of your body and you're not holding the weight of your
body up by grabbing a hold of something and holding the weight
of your body up. No, you've got nails driven through your hands
and your feet. And the weight of your body is
being held. And so if you pull up with your hands, it hurts. If you push up with your feet,
it hurts. And so if you just let go, well,
it hurts your hands some more. And then, it's hard to breathe. And then to get a breath, You
have to lift, right? And that's how they would die. They would suffer and die in
that manner. And, I mean, if nothing else, bleeding to death
over a period of three hours of being nailed there, having
your back wounded. Do you all know how many times
Jesus was whipped on His back? No. No. It doesn't say. It doesn't say. Paul said he
was whipped 40 times. He received 40 stripes save one
because the Jewish commandment was no more than 40. That was
the commandment. That was not a Roman commandment.
They could beat them literally to death. And it didn't matter. And so it is highly unlikely
that he got less than 40 stripes. Highly unlikely. So the possibility of human survival
after going through what he went through over a 24 hour period
is extremely, extremely low. And so that being said, his His death was fully expected. I turned it up. It's set for
auto, which what I was trying to do is just turn it up where
it will stop running. That was all. So you're still
hot. Well, you're sitting back there
with like 18 machines around you that are running heat fans
and stuff on them and stuff. But, hey, you know it's something
if I'm actually feeling a little chilly. And Shay's over here,
she's got icicles coming off her face. No, I'm kidding. She's
fine. She's got a winter coat on. But the possibility of death, it was pretty well fixed. It was going to happen. The possibility
of surviving that, Really, I mean, that in and of
itself would have been a miracle. But even more. Dying. Being buried dead. And raising again the third day.
You know, the burial we often we, you know, we say Jesus died
and rose again. Well, he died and he was buried and he rose
again. He was buried and he was in the grave for three days,
not from Friday night to Sunday morning. OK, it was three whole
days, 72 hours dead. And then not dead anymore. And that's a really big deal.
It's a big deal. Because he didn't stay dead. But it's a big deal because it
shows his power. It shows his power over the grave.
It shows his power over death. It shows his power over creation. And seeing his power. It declares
also letter B. It declares the extent of power
available to us. Think about that. You're born
again tonight. Y'all, the Pentecostals, they
don't have all the... Alright, I'm going to be mean
for a second. They don't even have the real
power of God. But they don't have all the power
of God. They don't have a corner on the market on power from the
Holy Ghost. They don't. And by the way, being able to
do signs and wonders isn't the power of God. That's signs and
wonders. I've got some friends that can
do some really cool magic tricks. But the power of God isn't a
trick. It's not magic. It's not some
illusion. Resurrection power. is the greatest
power that there is. Because the one thing that no
one can beat is death. And this is the power that God
makes available to the believer in his daily walk. Power that
not even death can take. Think about that. Think about
that and I'm not like I said, I'm not trying to like. Go charismatic
here. I'm trying to, yeah, and my wife
warned me I didn't think there were bugs flying around, but.
Oh, it's a piece of lint. And it's flying like a bug, like
it says. Oh, it's part of a broader brother. Brother Bell is my pet. But the brother Bella, the power
of God is available because of the resurrection. Amen. To grow that hair back out. Amen.
No. He didn't leave church. Anyhow, go to Romans 1, Romans chapter
1. Romans chapter 1. Yes, sir? Speaking of our Lord Jesus, it
says, "...and declared to be the Son of God with power, according
to the spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead."
Now, I could go and start preaching, you know, a lot of stuff in Romans
chapter 1 about the power of God. We went there, we did that,
right? We've been doing that for, what, 10 weeks now in Romans
chapter 1. Notice the connection between
the power of God and the resurrection. Go to Philippians chapter 3.
Philippians chapter 3. Philippians 3 and verse number Verse 10, that I may know Him,
and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings,
being made conformable unto His death, if by any means I might
attain unto the resurrection of the dead. This is Paul's desire. Paul's desire is to know
Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings.
Being made conformable unto His death that He might attain to
the resurrection. Again, the power of God linked
directly to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1558, right? Who's
got it memorized? Anybody? Pastor G, you got it
memorized? Started out. Therefore, my beloved
brethren, be steadfast. Don't read it. Quote it. Be steadfast,
unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. For, you
know, Your labor is not vain in the Lord. Is that how it goes?
For as much as you know that your labor is not in vain in
the Lord. Why? Why isn't it in vain? Because we're we're going to
raise again. and that same resurrection power
that rose Jesus from the dead. He has and now listen that y'all
don't misunderstand it doesn't God didn't like give us like
magical powers you know from the resurrection like oh all
of a sudden now my fingers can do these crazy and I can wiggle
my fingers and make stuff happen right now that that's not what
we're we're not talking about mystical stuff. We're talking about the
power of God that can overcome addiction. We're talking about
the power of God that can overcome sin in your life. The power of
God that can break chains of bondage of sin in your life and
bad habits. The power of God that can give
you the ability to serve God. Whether it's convenient or not
the power of God that's there to give you the energy to go
and do what you know sometimes you just don't want to do stuff
sometimes right. But you know you're supposed
to the power of God resurrection power is there we call that grace
right. Now a lot of times people look
at grace and they think, oh grace, that's extra time to pay my bills. No. No, that's the misapplication
of the term grace, right? Grace is God's divine influence
upon you that gives you the power to do what you could not otherwise
do. Grace is also, now it has multiple
flavors of meaning or shades of meaning that have to do with
various contexts. But grace is also, you have mercy
and grace, they go real close to one another. Mercy is not
getting what you deserve from the negative. It's not being
punished like we deserve to. And grace is getting what we
don't deserve, right? It's kind of like, OK, so let's
see here. Who am I going to pick on? Brother
Sims, I got to pick on Brother Sims. All right. So Brother Sims,
he he did something wrong. All right. What did Brother Sims
do? Oh, fell asleep in church. All
right. All right. So we say, all right, Brother
Sims, the penalty for falling asleep in church is you got to
run the aisle 10 times. Right. And I say, you know what? We're going to have mercy on
you. You don't have to run the aisle. But I'll tell you what,
we're also going to have grace on you. there's a giant cupcake
in the back. You didn't earn it, but it's
yours. There isn't really, okay, don't
get your hopes up. Just an illustration, okay. It's
just an illustrative cupcake, it's not real. And so, But that's the idea of grace
versus mercy, right? And when we talk about the grace
of God, the grace of God does a lot of things, right? We're
saved by grace through faith. The grace of God teaches us that
denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly,
righteously, and godly in this present world. Right? The grace
of God grows us. Right? We grow in His grace and
in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Right?
To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen. Amen. Right? You all have the song in your
head now? Alright, so the resurrection of Jesus Christ declares the
extent of the power available to us. Let me ask this. If God can raise himself from
the dead, what can't he do? I know there's some trivia questions,
right? Okay, no, he can't lie, he can't
sin, right? He can't let you into heaven
without being saved. When I say what can't He do,
I mean in the realm of what is He limited by in terms of power? Is God's power limited? No, it's
not limited. It's not limited. Now, I'm not
talking about trivia like making a rock too big to pick up or
something stupid like that, right? No, God wouldn't do that because
He's not foolish. He wouldn't do it because he's
not foolish, and he wouldn't want to do it because he's not
foolish. It's a foolish trivia question is what it is. And so
it's not to be entertained. But. What did he ask Abraham? Is anything too hard for me? That was a rhetorical question. In other words, it was a question
that was posed in order to spout rhetoric. That's what a rhetorical
question is. Y'all know how those words work. There we go. See, I don't know
how words work, but y'all do. It is a question that's asked
in order to emphasize rhetoric or a statement of truth from
the perspective of the speaker. And in this case, it's God. He
says, is anything too hard for me? No, of course not. Right? And later on, Jeremiah
declares There isn't anything. Too hard for God. And so resurrection
power. Is a big deal. And because resurrection power
is a big deal. You don't have it without the
resurrection. So it goes back to the resurrection. You have
to have the resurrection to have that resurrection power. And
without resurrection power, we don't have victory over sin.
Without resurrection power, we don't have growing in grace. Without resurrection power, we
don't have we don't have a hope of eternal life. We don't have
justification. We don't have sanctification.
We don't have any of the things that go along with the Christian
life. Let her see it declares the fact of our own resurrection
and in 1st Corinthians 15 and verse number 5 or verse number
22. It says for as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Pretty excited, pretty exciting. Y'all know, we just went through
a little while ago and we looked at 107 billion people that have
died, roughly, give or take. Everyone is going to raise again. Some to life and some to everlasting
judgment. But the only credence for our
faith as Christians is the empty tomb. Right? As the songwriter said, I walked
by the tomb of Buddha and looked inside. I saw his bones. Yeah,
I went. I traveled on to see Mohammed
still wrapped up in his grave clothes. But I journeyed to the
garden where old Joseph let him lay. How's it go? Nobody knows. What's that? I don't know. I'll know it in a minute when
I get to the chorus. There you go. If you knew him like I know
him, you would know that he's alive, right? Anyhow. Oh, yeah. Well, you know, they
all go together. So, I don't have it chorded,
and I don't know. I could maybe, maybe sing it a cappella if I
have the words, maybe. Maybe I'll give it a try after
we're not live anymore, so. the resurrection, its importance. Next week, we look at the nature.
Well, either next week or the following. It depends on if Brother
Quick's preaching Sunday evening next week. If not, then we will
cover the nature of the resurrection next week. How about questions,
comments on what we've talked about? I know we didn't get very
far. It's OK. Anything, questions, comments? Thank you, brother. Yeah. So he was seen of John
and Peter and James and then the rest of them. And then he
was seen of above 500 brethren at once. And you know, when he
launched off of the Mount of Olives, I don't think that it
was a private event. I'm pretty sure that anybody,
anybody in Jerusalem or in near Judea could probably looked over
and said, what is that? Yeah. And it wasn't Elon's spaceship
either, right? But. Yeah. Anyhow, so. Yeah, he it was the
resurrection was witnessed. People saw him alive after. Yeah. Mm hmm. Pretty awesome. Pretty amazing.
Amen. Yes, sir. Gives us hope. Other
other thoughts on that. Let not your heart be trouble.
Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Other thoughts. William sending
me the lyrics to the song. Oh, he's not. I might be able to find them
faster. First time I heard that song
was the Horton family. Brother Rob and his girls sang
it at the Preacher boys class is what we
called it. It was for young men who were
aspiring to be preachers. So, yeah. Other questions? I
found it, brother. Then I just need to find the
keys. I think Pastor G's got them clipped to his side there.
Any other questions or comments on the subject? Anybody still
tired from the hour you lost last night? Everybody's like, yeah. Yeah. Pastor G, you don't know the
song. Sing it for us. Lost the keys. All right. You can cut the live feed now.
We don't have to. I know some people.
