Classy or Trashy?
A person's character can usually be summed up in two simple words: classy or trashy. The impression we leave on other people will be affected greatly by these two measures of behavior and appearance. Classy refers to dignity and honor, and trashy is self-explanatory. Our clothes tell others a lot about us, like it or not. Others make a judgment of our character by our immodesty, sloppiness, and disorderliness, or modesty, dignity, and order. If we have poor hygiene, use profanity, and talk like a redneck on purpose, we dishonor ourselves and should not be surprised when others think of us as trashy. On the other hand, if we are clean in body and in our language, modest and orderly in our clothing, it shows respect toward others, and we are immediately esteemed more highly by other people. Let's have some dignity and honor about ourselves, instead of pride and foolishness. We cannot be an effective witness for the Lord if we take the low road in all these matters.
