Why Faith Gives Us Courage!

Whenever a person is introduced to us as a man or woman of faith, we are tempted to see a humble and fearful person who takes all the insults without moving a finger. As if faith is another reference for being timid, unhappy, and foolish. While our faith in Christ does make us humble, it does not make us timid. In fact, our humility reflects our strength. We are humble because we believe in a powerful God!

This is exactly what is exemplified by the two midwives in the first chapter of Exodus. The author affirms that they disregarded Pharaoh's command because they feared God. Shephrah and Pua are women of faith. That's why they can stand against an evil command. They know that the God they believe in is faithful and more powerful than Pharaoh and his army. They have faith in the Lord, and their faith is the source of their courage! These women are women of courage because they are women of faith! Just the kind of Christians we need today. Christians who are not afraid to stand as witnesses for Christ even when it is not fashionable to do so!
