Alright, Hosea chapter 10. Let's
begin that chapter. We've had a dissertation on it. Alright, Hosea chapter 10. Let's begin reading verses 1,
2, and 3. Try to remember verse number
1. Israel is an empty vine. He bringeth
forth fruit unto himself. According to the multitude of
his fruit, he hath increased the altars. According to the
goodness of his land, they have made good the images. Their heart
is divided. Now shall they be found faulted.
he shall break down their altars, he shall spoil their images,
for now they shall say, we have no king, because we fear not
the Lord, what then shall a king do to us? Alright, who is this
writing to? Who is this writing to? Who is
this? Oh, Israel. Israel, alright. All twelve tribes? I have the
ten tribes of Israel, alright. Not Israel as a whole, but just
the top ten in the northern kingdom. And what does he call Israel
here? What would that imply? Alright,
and when you do get any fruit, what do they do for it? The fruit
that he does have. What would that characteristic
be? What would that be called? Those who want to call or write,
simply write an email at questions at bftbc.org or call us at 856-855-4222. 2-6-1-9-0-1-8 for comments or
questions. Now what trait would that identify? They have not much fruit in the
vine, but the fruit that they have is for themselves. Now there's
nothing wrong with feeding yourself, that's for sure, but it seems
to imply a very good fruit unto himself. Now what is the measure
of the fruit in verse 1? What measure, according to the
multitude of his fruit, is done what? What are these altars? False gods. How many altars did
God tell the Israelites to have? Just one. Where was that to be?
Jerusalem. In Jerusalem, right? The tabernacle
or the temple in Jerusalem. They were not to go on these
different fields and the mountains and the hills and have these
false altars. But they had them. And according to the goodness
of His land, they've done what? Beautiful images. And apparently the land was good.
They had many of these. There were many images. The Lord
had given them a good land. And then the real problem with
Israel and the problem with many of us is what? What would that imply? Alright. What would be the difference
between their divided heads and their divided hearts? Is there
any difference? What would the difference be? The heart is what
you love with. Right. Emotions, the seed of
emotions, rather than the intellect and so on. The heart divided. What did the Lord Jesus say about
how it's divided against the self? Cannot stand. Cannot stand. But also they say about you can't
serve God and man. You know that you serve one or
the other. No man can serve two masters.
Either you love the one, despise the other, please the one and
forsake the other. So, this divided heart. Now, of course, there
have to be certain things. We can't always be on one thing
at a time. We have to have certain things
that we do. We're not always sitting in these chairs and always
standing, not always eating. We have certain things. But spiritually,
having a heart that's divided, either serving ourselves rather
than serving the Lord. See, that's like, we certainly
eat, we dress ourselves, we bathe ourselves, we take care of ourselves.
But our main goal in life should be to serve the Lord. And what
did Paul say in Romans 12 verse 1? I beseech you therefore brethren,
to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto
God, with your regional service. So he beseeches them to present
their bodies so it will live for the Lord, not have a heart
divided. And in Galatians 5, the works of the what is what,
and the fruit of what is what? Works of the flesh is listed,
and the fruit of The Spirit. So you see, are these the same?
Do they go along each other? The contrary. The contrary. There's
a battle. There's a fight. And so that's a divided heart.
Now those who want to serve the flesh, that's all there is to
it. Those who want to serve the Spirit,
that's what God wants. Not a divided heart. We want
to defeat the old flesh, the old nature. By the power of the
Spirit of God. See, that's what our desire should
be. And He will help us if we find it. So because our heart
is divided in verse 2, what is the result of that? What would faulty mean? Lacking? Guilty? With errors
and sins? When you're half-divided, the
Lord doesn't say you're doing things right. The serving of
the different altars, increasing the altars certainly would indicate
that they're half-divided. You know, between the Lord, the
true God, and then these false gods. He shall break down their
altars. God's going to do that. And what
else? Spoil the images. What country came and took them
away? Assyria. Assyria, right? And at that point
they just smashed all their... What do you think they did with
the gold and silver on the altar? The Assyrians. The Assyrians
over here, this big land of Assyria, came by what year roughly? 700 B.C. And when they came in
apparently they just smashed everything and probably They
took the silver and the gold that was around these altars.
They decorated them, many of them, with very expensive things
and they just took them and spoiled them. Then in verse number 3,
what had happened, at least at this time, to their king? At the end, before they were
taken away, their eyes were poked out, the kings were not right. Yeah, that was a different one.
But the kings were eventually all taken and gone. And you remember
the book of 2nd Kings at the end of that and 2nd Chronicles,
it talks about the fall of the northern kingdom and the southern
kingdom actually. I guess earlier in the book of
Kings, I think it was 1st Kings 17. No, it could have been 1st
Kings. 1st Kings, I mean 2nd Kings.
2nd Kings 17. Take a look at it. Keep your place here in Mosaic. Yes, the king of Assyria, in
verse number 24, re-peoples the cities of Israel. And in 2 Kings
17, verse 4, the king of Assyria found conspirators in Hoshea,
who had sent messengers to the king of Egypt and so on. And
then in verse 17, the sins for which Israel was carried into
captivity. A list of a whole bunch of sins. And so that's
when they lost their kings. That's when they were just taken
away. Hosea and various other ones
were listed here. So apparently that's what these
kings would do, take away their orders. And what should a king
do to us? What should a king do? Should
lead them. That's exactly right. In Deuteronomy,
what did Moses say that the king should do? Prayers day. Write
the book of the law. Write out a book of the law.
And what are you going to do with that book of the law? Read
there and how often? Daily. Daily. That's right. And
not go outside horses, not go back into Egypt, but write yourself
a copy of the law of Moses. And he was supposed to write
it out at the beginning of his reign. That's right, at the beginning
of his reign. That's quite interesting, isn't it? See, when they didn't
do that, what should they do? They should not only know the
word of God, but follow it. Very few kings did that, as you
know. Yes? So, during the kings of
Judah, the scriptures must have been lost, because was it Hilkiah
that found the scriptures, or Josiah, and brought them to him? He didn't even know where they
were, so they had been lost. Yes, you're right. That's a sad
situation. The Levites were to teach the
people throughout the land the law of the Lord, and they were
to be the teachers. And Israel was just not a big
map, but they had all kinds of their total of 48 Levitical cities. And they're spread out north
and south all throughout. And those Levites were supposed
to see the map is a little bigger. This one here. Yes. Here's here's
a scenario. It's hard to see with this thing.
Maybe over here we can go. But scattered throughout the
north and the south, the Levites were just all over. They were
supposed to teach the word of God, but they didn't. But after
Jeroboam took over, many of them went back to the southern kingdom,
didn't they, many of the Levites? Yes, I think they did. So then
what happened to the Leviticus cities? Well, the Leviticus cities
were still there, but apparently they were uninhabited by the
Levites. There were the cities there, but then the Levites,
apparently many of them fled to the south. But those, some
of them, were up for grabs, you might say. They were in the north,
and they were not solid. Levites, but we see a little
bit later on that because it's chapter 20, this one Levite had
a kind goodbye and went down to get me in and there's all
sorts of sin involved. That was before, that was before,
that if there was even any king. Well that's true, that's true,
but I'm just using an example of a Levite that was not in line
with the Lord. So a lot of them forsook the
Lord when they went up there and they forgot all that, but
some came down and were sure Levites. Alright, let's read
verse number 4, 5, and 6 together. They have spoken words, swearing
falsely, to making a covenant, thus just in spring about Beth-hemlock,
in the furrows of the field. The inhabitants of Samaria shall
fear because of the calves of Beth-Avon. For the people thereof
shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced
in it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.
It shall also be carried into Assyria for a present to the
King Jared. Ephraim shall receive shame,
and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel." Want to call
for comments, questions at BFTBC.org, we'll put that up for you, or
follow us, 856-854, uh, what's the next one? 861-9018, yeah,
856-261-9018, follow it. Alright, verse number 4, what
are some of the sins that they're carrying on here? Lies. Lies. What does it mean swearing falsely? Uh, well, like that Murdoch,
is that his name? Murdoch? Murdoch? He was investigated and he swore
falsely before, uh, before it passed when they were investigating
him. Yes, that's true. So what did Lord Jesus say about
swearing? What did James say about swearing? Swear not neither by heaven nor
by earth, but your yea be yea, your nay be nay. Swear not at
all. So what does this mean, swearing
falsely? What is the penalty in the courts
of law for swearing falsely? Perjury. It's called perjury.
Perjura. Jura means to swear with false
implications. Anybody there? Oh, OK. So they swore falsely. Did any of our presidents recently
swore falsely? Yeah. OK. And who was he and
what did he swore about? A couple of them swore falsely,
but he didn't swore falsely. Swore falsely about this affair.
Yeah. The false swearing, I specified
for perjury. Is that a simple thing or does
it bear a penalty? Martha Stewart. She lied to the federal people. And if you lie to the feds, they
think it's a five year automatic penalty. Lying to the federal
people. But you know, compared to what
they had to do with her, other people get away with so much.
You'll be taxed cheap and still then become the head of the IRS. So, you know, a lot of things
that you get away with if you know certain people. It's unfortunate.
Swearing falsely, though, is a terrible thing. We've got to
make our yay, yay, and our nay, nay, and be honest about it.
And making a covenant. What is a covenant in verse number
4? It's a promise, an agreement, alright? Thus judgment springs
up as hemlock. Now, is that a good thing or
a bad thing? What is hemlock? Who was the ancient person that
died with Hemlock? Socrates. He ate the Hemlock
and committed suicide. He was a homosexual and he was
a teacher in Greece, in ancient Greece. So, this is a... So, dressing up as Hemlock, what
would that imply? Oh, excuse me. Yes, they do. That's right. Exactly right. Euthanasia or killing people. If they want to die, they just
go ahead. And several doctors in some states, I think, have
got that. All right. You can be killed
if you want to die. I forget what state it is. One
of the states, that's coming. And of course, with the new president
and his policies on the socialized medicine, governmental medicine,
they're going to give older people just the medicine that they want
to have and they want to not spend too much. And so, if they're
too old, then they don't get the real treatment they need.
And so, I think euthanasia is going to be more popular in many
states and maybe the federal government. But the hemlock,
so if judgment springs like hemlock, what does that mean? It's either false judgment. Do
we have false judgment in our land? Sometimes judges, sometimes
they're good, sometimes they're bad. If they're bad, they get
false judgment. People have been, lawyers have
been trying to get our president, for example, to give the very
source of his birth certificate. He's denied. He's paid high paid
attorneys, California, to block every attempt. block it in Hawaii,
block it in Kenya, which I believe where I was born, block it everywhere.
And attorneys are trying to bring this before the courts, before
the thing, and they've been blocked because the attorneys don't want
to bring it up and it's just paid off. It's false judgment.
And it's judgment that's like hemlock. I just read another
one today, and he was still trying to show that if indeed our president
is not qualified according to the Constitution, that he'd be
a natural born citizen, not just a citizen, natural born, which
is defined very specifically. He knows what that means. He's
a constitutional lawyer, our president. So this Justice Department
or organization is trying to bring this out so that they can
be, because if he's not a qualified constitutional man, all the things
he signs are not void. And he was threatened by the
president and his lawyers. This particular, people that
are trying to bring this suit, just read it today. If you continue
to do this, and don't stop it, we're going to make you pay the
fullest extent of the law. In other words, all of your expenses,
all of your lawyer fees, thousands and thousands and thousands of
dollars. So, this company, this particular lawyer organization,
is going to continue. They've asked for funds some,
but it won't go anywhere. Because at the top, it's just
a fight. But the judgment many times is
like hemlocks, bringing up this hemlock, the fur of the field.
Version number 5, what about the Samaritans, the birth people
of Samaria? What does it mean they were feared
because of the calves of the fowl? What were they doing with
these calves, do you think? Sacrificing to the idols. Sacrificing
to the idols, and they feared. Is that a proper fear or a false
fear? Should we fear idols? We should pray well, we should
pray in the sense of worship, you know, praying to God. But
they should be afraid of God and of judgment. That's true,
that's true. But in a sense, I think that
praying to idols seems like they're, you know, first it's God fearing
means that they respect the Lord and they serve the Lord. If they're
praying in the sense of God fearing, they're praying to idols, God
is fearing, you know, that's a bad thing. Mom? Well, we probably
shouldn't be real chummy with idols. about two things like
the totem poles you know when you go in the totem pole area
where you live you know and then I've heard this that missionaries
bring home curios I think they're called and for the missionaries
and some of them are are really idols that's right and so I've
heard I didn't hear this when I was younger but sometime in
the recent past criticized this has been criticized because they're
actually bringing these heathen things Yes, and sometimes the
devil and evil spirits come with those idols and they infect Christians. We've heard of that. I've not
experienced it myself, but I've heard different missionaries
tell us. And I remember one missionary was telling me that, I don't
remember what country it was, but there was a devil bush, whether
it was in Africa or whatever, there's a devil bush. And the
missionaries were warned, don't go into that devil bush where
the evil spirits were worshipped out of this foreign field. The
missionaries say, well, I'm a Christian, I've got the Holy Spirit in me,
I have no problem. He goes into the devil's bush and comes out sort
of a raving maniac. The evil spirits affected that
missionary. Though he was bold in the flesh,
that was told to me by a missionary. He said, I have nothing against
it personally, but I don't want to mess with it. Remember in
the Old Testament, what does God say to do with the necromancers
and those worshiping spirits? What does he say to do in the
Old Testament? Flee from them and die. What does he say to
do with them? Just stay away from them. Come out from among them
and be ye separated, says the Lord in the New Testament, 2
Corinthians chapter 6, verses 14, 15, and 17. So that they
fear the wrong people and they mourn over it. And the priests,
they rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it's departed
from them. Now there's no glory, but they
did rejoice in the past. Should we glory in the Lord?
Yes, we should. But not in ourselves, or not
in sin, or certainly not in false idols. And what's going to happen
to these idols in verse 6? They will be carried away into
Assyria. Into Assyria? Yes, for a present. So, in other
words, when the Assyrians come after Israel, they are going
to be carried away at that time into that land of Assyria, about
700 BC or whatever, because of their sins. It's interesting,
the king's name is mentioned here, King Jerob. Yes, Jerob.
And what is this going to be resulting with Ephraim? What
are they going to receive? Shame. Shame at Israel? Ashamed
of his own counsel. Now what would that mean? If
you're ashamed of your own counsel, what would that imply? Foolish
words, I guess. Foolish words? Now, we heard
a man today on the television, and he said, sometimes I make
mistakes. I don't admit them. Sometimes I make mistakes. If
you're ashamed of your own counsel, what is counsel? Advice. Advice, alright. Is it always
good? In the Old Testament, David had
a counselor. What was his name? The Lord. The Lord was part of it, but
then they had a human counselor. What was his name? Ahithophel.
Ahithophel. Ahithophel. And then there was another counselor
that came. Hoshai. Remember Hoshai and Ahithophel?
They conflicted in their counsel. One gave David good counsel.
One gave him bad counsel. And I guess it wasn't David,
it was Solomon, but I don't think it was Solomon. It was Rehoboam.
Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was
Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was
Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was
Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was
Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was
Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was Rehoboam. Was
Rehoboam Now what did the council of Jezebel say? Go right now and go attack David
right now. Absalom the son was attacking
his father David. Go now. Jezebel said go now and
get him. What else did he say? He gave
this long speech about why they should not go now and that if
they waited and gathered all the army then Absalom himself
could lead and prevent them. That's right. And what counsel
did Absalom take? Hintafel's good counsel or Horshani's
bad counsel? Horshani. Horshani, okay. So
David was let off the hook. Then what did Hintafel do after
his counsel was not taken? He went and hanged himself. Hanged himself, that's right.
He went and hanged himself. Is that a good idea when your counsel
is not taken? Is your counsel always taken? Is your counsel
always taken? No. Sometimes nobody even asks
for your counsel. If they don't ask for it, do
we sometimes give it anyway? Sometimes we do. And that's the least accepted,
isn't it? It might be good, but it's not
wanted. So here it says that they're
ashamed of their own counsel. Have you ever counseled somebody
wrongly? Think about it. Have you ever counseled somebody?
Probably yes. We didn't know any better, maybe
didn't mean to, but the thing we said really was not the way
we should have counseled, but we did. So this was a case, now
I will give it to Israel, they at least had the honesty to be
ashamed that they're all counseled. Are some people not ashamed of
anything that they counsel? Are some people not ashamed seemingly
of anything that they counsel? There's some people that can
never admit a mistake. There's just lots of shamelessness
going on. If you have a comment on this
or anything else on our study, give us a call. 856-261-9018
or questions at vftvc.org. If you don't know what sin is,
you don't know, like he says, you're not ashamed. It's your
conscience, sincerity. If you aren't taught right from
wrong, you don't know. Right, although the bard can
teach you through his word. But I'm just thinking of some
of these people that didn't know anything. Right. So we have to
have some light. before we can really be ashamed
of anything, and it's got to be proper. All right, let's read
verse number 7, 8, and 9 together. As for Samaria, her king is cut
off as a foam upon the water. The high place is also of Avan.
The sin of Israel shall be destroyed. The thorn and the thistle shall
come up on their altars, and they shall say to the mountains,
Cover us, and to the hills, Fall on us. O Israel, thou hast sinned
from the days of Gibeah, There they stood to battle in Gibeah
against the children of Iniquity, did not overtake them. As for
Samaria, we are going to have it right here too. As for Samaria,
that was the capital, wasn't it, of the Northern Kingdom,
Samaria. It is right here on the map. The capital of the Northern
Kingdom was Samaria. As to Samaria, what about the
king? What's going to happen to the
king? When will that be taking place? When will that take place? When it happens in captivity,
that's right. Cut off as the foam upon the
water. What's this foam upon the water? What water? The sea
or the lake. Right, there's lots of foam that's
there, white caps we call them, and leg area, different things. What is it? Well, it's cut off as the foam. Well, I guess when the waves
come in, the foam is gone. And it just dries again, I guess. In other words, it disappears. You know, you see the thing coming
along, a lot of white caps, we call them. White caps, when they
land, it's gone. It's just plain water, see. Sometimes
the ocean is rock foamy. When you walk through it, the
foam goes... Yeah, it like moves, like it,
you know, like, kind of like bubbles in the water. Especially
if it's dirty water, especially if it's dirty. But I mean, it's,
you know, sometimes it's a whole bunch of bubbles in the ocean,
and sometimes it like goes away, or like she said, you walk on
it and it just moves, it just disappears. Like the bubble bath,
you know, like it kind of moves. Moving along. I haven't had one
of those recently. Now notice in verse number 8,
what is a high place? It talks about a high place.
A place where they worship. What did God tell the Israelites
to do or not to do as far as high places? Cut them down. Cut
them down. Throw them down. They are bad. Why do you suppose Israel or
any of these nations, Judah, would make orders in high places? Why do you suppose they would
do that? Like Babylon, they wanted to reach God? Well, like the
Tower of Babel, yes. The higher up, they thought they'd
get closer to God. I think that's probably the reason. They wanted
to go up in the high places. And, uh, but... But trees, isn't that
what Jeroboam said? Yes, he had two calves, and one
in the north, and one in the south of the northern tribes.
One in the north, one in the south, and worshipped up there,
and they were in high places. He was a high place worshipper.
And, uh, now people living in high places, we talk about the
The top most part of buildings and hotels, what is, where does
the price go when you go to the highest? Higher. Why is that? That's true. Why is it? You have
the highest price. Depends on what floor you're
in. That's the highest. The highest price. Have a nice
view. Have a nice view? What was your
floor? Mine was the 11th. How many floors
above? That was the 11th floor. That's
the highest? There was a thing about 4 or 5 o'clock in the big
apartment building. The mausoleum is the cheaper
the higher you go. The mausoleum? Is that right?
Because you can't walk all the way up there? You can't see them
as well. You're right. My father wanted to pay. He wanted
to pay where he had to, which is good. He said it's closer
to heaven that way. So that's it about the mausoleum.
That's all you have to learn about the mausoleum. What kind... you're going to have one, aren't
you? We have those graves over there. We have graves ready to
go. Our son David is buried there. We thought, well, we might as
well get a couple right close by. So the high places of Israel,
what's going to happen to these high places? I want to tell you
a story. The beautiful apartment, when
we went to Korea, we went to Dr. Chung, took us to his friend's
house. And he was a doctor or something.
He was high up on the top floor. You could see all of Korea. It
was very exclusive. It was a very exclusive, beautiful,
beautiful place. It was high. What floor was it?
I don't remember, but it was high. To Liberty Place, the executive
floor was the 54th floor. And I didn't like it up there.
If it was a windy day, that building swayed. I never liked going up
there if it was windy. Where is that in Philadelphia?
They had one and two Liberty Place. The ones with the points. You can see them. If you look
down Haddon Avenue, straight down Haddon Avenue, that building
with the point is Liberty Place. Did you work in that building?
I thought that was a new building. Well, I mean, we didn't work
there until the building was built. Right. It was 1700 Orange
Street before that. Okay. But then, yes, there was
the wind, didn't you? Yes. Of course, the buildings
are built that way. And it's all glass, too. So,
you know, it was really scary. I'm glad you're... A lot of solid
ground. We were all there. Let me... One other time. Oh. Where Diane
had the reception, it was high. It was beautiful. Yes. And then
we went out. We went with the Brea class to
the World Trade Center. Yes, we did. Years ago. It took
so long to get up there on the elevator. Yes. And the highest
part. Yes. I don't know how many floors. 120. 120. That's huge. We went
up there and looked out and one of the floors. Maybe it's only
110. 110? There's no more now. It's
gone. Yeah. And I remember There was
something on the very top thing, you could look down, you could
see all down there, which I didn't enjoy doing, but I looked and
that was it. So one lady, she used to come
to our church, she looked there and she froze. She froze looking there, just
froze. And her husband and another man
had to just pick her up and move her. She just was frozen in spite. All the way down there. I mean,
I don't, I, you know, I didn't realize what he did. A lot when I worked there. I
used to have dreams at night that I was washing windows. So
these high places will be gone and the sin of Israel shall be
what? That's right. And what's going
to be on those altars? What's going to come on those
altars? What would that mean? They're going to be covered up
with weed, ma'am. Disuse. Just cover up, was it? Oh, I was thinking, that reminded
me of, uh, was it Ahab? It wasn't Ahab, it was somebody
else. About the elven, you mean? No, the one who had the thistle
and the seed. All right, here, we'll look it
up. You're not looking at that, how
convenient. Well, that would indicate that
they're no longer using these things. They're going to be stopped.
Because the thistles are going to come, and the thorns... They're
all moved away. Was there anything in the Old
Testament, the Book of Genesis about thorns and thistles? Yes,
that's what came up after the sentence. It says, Then Amaziah, which
was the Jew guy, sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehozah
from Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come,
let us look one another in the face. And Jehoash, the king of
Israel, sent to Amaziah of Judah, saying, The thistle that was
in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying,
Give thy cedar to my son, to wife, and they'll pass by a wild
beast that was in Lebanon, and throw down the thistle. Thou
hast indeed seen it in them, and thine heart hath lifted thee
up. Glory of this, and tarry at home, for why shouldst thou
matter to thy heart that thou shouldst fall? Even thou knewest
it, and it rose down. So the thistle, the different
ones, Can a thistle whistle? There's a lot of wind. They might make a noise if there
was a lot of wind. It's just a rhetorical question. The thorns of thistles indicate
that they are going to be completely disused. And what are they going
to say? These worshippers of idols in verse 8. And what about
the hills? Where is that in the New Testament? Revelation. Read it, Anna, if
you haven't. Alright. Alright. You can read
it in the cross reference. In the cross reference. And then
to the mountains. Oops, let me read the previous.
In the tribulation period. Is the church going to be there?
The saved people going to be in the tribulation? No. And I
beheld when he had opened the sixth seal. And lo, there was
a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of
hair, and the moon became as blood. And the stars of heaven
fell unto the earth, even as the fig tree casteth her untimely
figs when she is shaken of a mighty wind. And the heaven departed
as a squirrel when it is roared together. And every mountain
and island moved out of places. And the kings of the earth, and
the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the
mighty men, and every bondman, and every freeman hid themselves
in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains, and said to
the lions and the ox, follow us, and hide us from the face
of him that sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.
For the great day of his wrath is come, and who shall be able
to stand? That's during the judgment of
the tribulation on the shirt. I'm glad the believer is going
to be out of here. So, the drops in the mouth have
fallen. And then in verse number 9, what
does God tell them of the start of their sin? The days of Gibeah. It's still the battle of Gibeah.
In Judges 20, verse 4, let's stop right here for tonight. If you take Genesis 20 verse
4, it talks about this Levite, the husband of a woman who was
slain, came to Gibeah and belonged to Benjamin. We'll dig that up
next week, but tell me in your own words, what happened at that
time? What did the men of Gibeah or
Benjamin do to this Levite and this woman, this concubine? What did they do? That's right. They wanted to slay the Levite. Apparently raped and killed this
woman. And what did Israel want to do for these Gibegites who
were on the tribe of Benjamin? They went to Gibegit. What did
Israel say? What did Israel want? That these
men, these sons of Belial, that they raped and killed this woman.
What did Israel want the Benjamites to do? Turn them over to them.
What did Benjamin say? No. So then what did Israel do?
They went to war. They went to war and attacked.
that the tribe of Benjamin, and many were slain, and the sin,
the wickedness. God wants sin to be put out,
and this is one way to ruin it. And of course, when you don't
put out the sons of Belial, it goes all throughout the whole
tribes, and that's what God wanted. We'll take that up next week,
but do you have any time for questions before we close tonight? At the very beginning you were
talking about a divided heart and I was thinking of this verse
and I was looking for it and I couldn't find it. Psalm 8611,
Teach me thy way O Lord and I will walk in thy truth. Unite my heart
to fear thy danger. Good. Unite my heart. 8611 of
the Psalms. That's good. Any other comments? 8611. All right, teach me that way.
Unite my heart. Our Father, we do thank Thee
for Thy words. We thank Thee for this book of
Hosea, the prophet. We are sorry for the sins of
Ephraim, of Israel, these ten tribes. I am sure, Lord, Thou
art sorry about our sins as well when we failed to do that which
is wrong instead of that which is right. Forgive us and unite
us, heart, as this psalmist has said. and take us away from any
divided heart, but help us to serve Thee with our spirit, with
our soul, and our body, and our mind, and our strength, that
we may please Thee in all that we do, that Thou wouldst not
have to chastise us, and cut us off, and do all these things
that these idolatrous Israelites had done, and cause them to go
into captivity in the terrible country of Assyria. May Jesus
bless us, those that are here. I bless our need for those that
are sick and in need of prayer. We ask the Lord to take care
of them. Those that are here, those that are listening by other
means. Kindly direct us, Lord. Make us to love Thee and serve
Thee. Bring us back on the Lord's day. May it be a blessing to
all of our hearts. We pray in Jesus' name, for His
sake. Amen.
