Let's read in Ephesians chapter 6, verses 14 to 17, which is the portion that describes the pieces of the armor. Vamos a parar hasta ahí nada más. Hermanos, ustedes son personas que les gusta seguir la política. You know that recently there were elections and that we have a new president in the country. But before these final elections for the president, there were the primary elections, where the candidates of the same party compete against each other to see which one of them will be the candidate for the presidency. And I don't know if you saw an interview they did with the vice president, where they asked her if the things she said in the debates against the now president were true, because she made several accusations. And her answer to the interviewer was, it was simply a debate. And this is one of the first pieces of the armor that is mentioned here in this epistle that we are studying. Cuando leemos esta porción de la escritura, inicia en el versículo número 14, donde dice, dice, Estad pues firmes, ceñidos vuestros lomos con la verdad. Esa es la primera parte de la herramienta que nosotros debemos de tomar para ponérnosla. Es importante conocer la verdad y vivir en ella. Y hay dos principios que podemos ver en esta porción de la primera pieza. El primero es que la verdad debe de ser conocida para estar firme. Y cuando hablo de la verdad, aquí me refiero a la verdad específica a la verdad revelada en las Escrituras. La verdad absoluta es donde lo que Dios dice es lo que es y es el fin de la discusión. No hay más. Lo que Dios ha revelado. Y el segundo principio es que la verdad debe de ser vivida para poder permanecer en ella. Y con esto me refiero a la verdad de vivir en una forma justa, de una forma de caminar, de movernos en justicia. So, the first thing we are going to see here is the first weapon that is mentioned, the first part of the armor that is mentioned, and it is the Belt of Truth. But notice that immediately, in verse 14, there is an exhortation that says, Be firm, be firm. And this phrase, or this word, has been repeated three times. 3 times, and what it shows us, for example, verse 11, verse 13, and now verse 14, it shows us that this is the purpose that the Apostle Paul has when writing to the believers, that we put on the armor by strengthening ourselves in the Lord, but that the purpose is to remain firm. Tanto en cuanto a regla de fe, lo que uno debe de creer, y la regla de la conducta. Ahí encontramos la combinación. Y esto es muy típico en las declaraciones de fe. En las grandes declaraciones de fe, uno ve que uno de los artículos principales es que la Biblia es nuestra regla de fe y de conducta. Y esto es lo que tiene en mente aquí el apóstol Pablo al decir, o al hablar de la verdad, de ponerse cinturón. El cinturón del soldado romano no era como nuestros cinturones que utilizamos hoy en día. No es una sola pieza de cuero. El propósito de estar firmes, dice, sobre todo tomar escudo de la fe con que podáis apagar todos los dardos de fuego del enemigo. El enemigo nos ataca, el enemigo tiene el propósito de destruirnos, y por esa razón nosotros debemos estar firmes. Y ya hablamos anteriormente porque tres veces hasta este punto se menciona el estar firmes. Ya explicamos demasiado lo que significa esto, pero brevemente significa literalmente apoyarse sobre los pies en una posición erguida. But metaphorically, as it is used here, it means to remain in this spiritual battle without being defeated by the enemy of our souls. That's what Scripture is telling us here. So in this context, here we see the idea of supporting each other with firmness. And the only way to support each other with firmness is in the Word of God. So, the biggest weapon we have in this battle against the devil has to do with the truth. Brothers, Scripture exhorts us to emphasize the truth. Look, today, just a few moments ago, I just finished teaching 2 Peter, in chapter 1, verses 12 to 15. And I want to draw your attention to something that is there, where the idea of remaining in the truth, of being well cemented in the truth, is emphasized. Look there in chapter 1, in verse 12 to verse 15. And before I read it, brothers and sisters, I want to make a comment on where this portion of Scripture is. Note el énfasis en estas cosas, el énfasis en la verdad, y esto es una referencia a lo que Pablo también está diciendo, hablando de la verdad. La verdad es sumamente importante, la verdad es fundamental. If there is no foundation of the truth, there is nothing. And this is what it exhorts in Ephesians itself, where it says that we should build ourselves on the foundation that the apostles have already laid, the truth. Es en ella que somos fundamentados, edificados, donde podemos crecer. Es la verdad la que nos santifica. Entonces, por esta razón es que el apóstol Pablo enfatiza en que la primera parte de la armadura es la verdad. Por eso vemos el balance en esta misma epístola. Seis capítulos, ¿verdad hermanos? Tres de doctrina y tres de práctica. Three chapters where the truth is declared. And three chapters where it is exhorted to walk according to the truth, according to the calling of the Gospel. And this is the balance that there must be when taking this belt of the truth. This is the balance that Scripture is calling us to. That is why verse 14 says, "...be firm, your backs bowed to the truth." And this phrase of ¨señidos vuestros lomos¨ is a way of saying that one prepares for battle. It's like the soldiers who are about to receive the call to congregate and prepare for the war, they begin to prepare, to take all the weapons they have, all the war equipment, and prepare for that battle they are about to face. So, brothers and sisters, we must understand this thing. Here, the main idea is to be blind. And Paul's point is to tell us that we are blind to the truth. And in that way, we can be prepared to fight against Satan. And obviously, we dress in Christ. When Scripture says, we dress in Christ, it has to do with taking the truth and living according to that truth. For example, if we ask ourselves, why did Christ save us? Well, he saved us from the wrath of God. He delivered us from the power of sin over our lives, from the authority or government of Satan. Those are things that the Lord Jesus Christ has delivered us from. But the implications of those truths are that we live pious and just lives. That is, to live in a good relationship with God based on that knowledge, and to live in a good relationship with each other based on that. And that is the balance that is maintained in all the Scriptures. Ephesians, I will mention in this context, three chapters of doctrine, three chapters of practice. And this establishes, in the first three chapters, what God has done for us. That is, He saved us, He placed us in Christ. And then in chapter 4, verse 6, it is explained how we must live in the light of these truths. And now, let's see in the context of this. Let's look at chapter 1, verse 13. See how the apostle Paul balances this matter of the truth. Chapter 1, verse 13. In such a way, he loved God the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that all who believe in him may not be lost, but may have eternal life. So, look at the balance that exists here. Later, brothers, in chapter 4, verse 21, right here, we read the verse Numero 15, ahora leamos el versículo número 21. So, brothers, this is what we must do with the exhortation to take the first part of the armor. So, the foundation of the truth here, which Pablo is talking about, is a reference to the Gospel, which focuses, brothers, not on a series of doctrinal statements, but on a person. He is the person of Christ. He said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father but through me. And as a result, brothers, of understanding and knowing this truth, we are now new creatures in Christ Jesus. And we must, for this reason, be true people. This is what Scripture calls us. La verdad acerca del hombre. La verdad acerca de nuestra salvación. And the truth about the Church. This is a recent example that we have. Brothers, do you know that many people are forbidding to congregate virtually today? Yes? And there are people who offer complete applications now. And they have even come to say, as a slogan, as a phrase that they think is very important, they say, you don't need to come and be together. Now you can be together without being together. That doesn't have coherence. It doesn't have coherence. So, these applications have been put in place, where now, from a single platform, the pastor, sitting at home, on the couch or at the table, I don't know where he wants to be, can reach all the members of the Church. From there, he can send them messages. The members can go and chant or offer as they want to. Everything is there. And all of this has to do with the fact that there is no correct understanding of the truth about the Church. No se entiende. We are talking here about making these decisions now, based on the truth. What is the truth? We must have a correct definition of what the truth is. What is the truth? How does the Bible define it? Si el autor de la Escritura es Dios, la Biblia es inerrante. ¿No es así, hermanos? Porque eso es lo que dice la Escritura. As Judas says, that our Lord is powerful to keep us from falling. As Peter says, that if we do these things we will never fall. And that we will have a wide entrance to the Kingdom of Heaven. When we know these truths, brothers and sisters, our eyes light up and we remain firm in them. We are no longer moved as easily as before. We are no longer afraid of those things. Yes, it was a mistake by those who preach it, and many things can be manipulated. But this is the point. Before, brothers, we did not see because we were blind, but now we can see. And in this context of this spiritual struggle, it is important to note, brothers, that the demons have false doctrines that they promote. And obviously they use blind men to promote these false doctrines. For that reason, we need to know the truth. We dress in the truth by having a clear understanding of the truth, and by walking in the truth. Let's look at a couple of portions of Scripture. In 1 Timothy chapter 4, in verse 1, Here, the apostle Paul, in this verse number one, says, But the Spirit says clearly that in the later times some will apostatize from the faith, listen to this, listening to deceiving spirits and to doctrines of demons. So, those who listen to them are those who have never seen. They are those who are blind. They can be among us in the congregation. They can profess faith in Jesus Christ, but they are simply blind.
