Walking in the Spirit

The saint's struggle with sin is no longer the hopeless battle of those who do not know God. We have a new power that has broken the back of sin's dominion over us. The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has powerfully set us free from the deathly grip of sin and the condemnation of the law and has thrust us into true life.

Paul does not envisage a state of untroubled and passive sinlessness but rather an ongoing and active overcoming of sin through being absorbed, no longer with the things of this world, but with the things of the Spirit.
