In the midst

As the disciples share their experiences of meeting the risen Jesus, he stands among them. It is an unexpected arrival, coming with a wonderful blessing: "Peace to you!" Despite all the happy circumstances, it leads to a sudden panic, which gives the Lord opportunity to offer a manifest proof of his resurrection, in what he says about himself, in what he shows of his body, in his eating with his disciples. It all leads to a stunned joy, a joy full of hope for us as we contemplate the fact that Christ is risen indeed.
