You go around this country and it's like a secret book. It's a hidden book. It's a book that almost no preacher wants to touch, and I don't know why because it's Everything there is God's statements on what's happening in this world. And people have asked for centuries, how will the world end? You ever thought about that question? Ever asked yourself about that question? And many people have different answers and they've looked in different sources for different answers. They've tried the occult world, mysticism, They've tried the New Age movement. Some have looked to science for the answer. Some have looked to astrology for the answer. Some have even looked to the weather. They say climate change, that's the latest story that they've invented how the world is going to end. I did a search yesterday on Google. Don't recommend it, but there we go. How will the world end? You know what they said? They said it's going to end by either an asteroid hitting the earth. And today they revealed there's an asteroid heading towards our earth, and there's a 2.4% chance it's going to hit. So I don't know where it's going to hit. Hope it's not where I live, but I hope it's somewhere else. Another explanation or another answer they gave was a natural pandemic. A virus could end the world. Another answer, they give a very prominent answer amongst others. They said the sun is going to swell up and explode and all human life is going to end. Now the good news is they said that would take another 7.5 billion years. That's all the answers man has, isn't it? And I'm here to tell you tonight, not from myself, not from Lord Mission Hall, but from the word of God, from God himself, they're all wrong. They're all wrong. Because God has already told us. He has written history in advance in the book of Revelation, how this world is going to end. And the chapter we're about to read tonight is a definitive account, okay? So if you run into anybody this week and say, how is the world going to end? You say, Revelation 19. So let's read it. Verse one says, and after these things, what things? The 21 judgments that God unleashed on the world in the tribulation period running from Revelation chapter six all the way to Revelation 19. Those 21 specific judgments after they have been unleashed. And then in chapter 16 and 17, we saw how God destroyed the religious system of Babylon, of the Antichrist. And then in chapter 18, the economic capital Now we come to chapter 19. After all those things have unfolded, unleashed on the planet. It says, I heard a great voice of much people in heaven. You know, I'm glad heaven's full of people. We're not on the losing side. We're not even on the minority. I believe there's going to be more people in heaven than hell. Saying hallelujah. salvation and glory and honor and power unto the Lord our God, for true and righteous are his judgments. For he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand." That's Revelation 17. That happens. And again they said, hallelujah, and her smoke rose up forever and ever. And the four and 20 elders and the four beasts fell down and worshiped God that sat on the throne saying, amen, hallelujah. And a voice came out of the throne saying, praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. And I heard as it were a voice of a great multitude. And as the voice of many waters and as the voice of mighty thundering saying, hallelujah, for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice and give honor to him for the marriage of the lamb is come and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white, for the line linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, write, blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, these are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his feet to worship him, and he said unto me, see thou do it not, I am thy fellow servant and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. So that's a scene in heaven, verse one, really to verse 10. And having revealed the worship in heaven, the praise in heaven that gives out glory to God after the destruction of the city of Babylon, after the destruction of the Antichrist's religious and economic power base, then Jesus comes, here it comes, verse 11, and I saw heaven opened. Behold, a white horse, and he that sat upon him was called faithful and true. And in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns. And he had a name written that no man knew but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood, and his name is called the word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations, and he shall rule them with a rod of iron. And he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords. And I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God, that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and born, both small and great. And I saw the beast," that's the Antichrist, And the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast alive, into a lake of fire burning with brimstone, and the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of the mouth, and all the fowls were filled with their flesh." Four hallelujahs ring out of heaven at the start of this last great battle of the ages. And they give glory to God for his righteous judgment. You'll see that in verse one to three. They give glory to God for his sovereign rule. Then they give glory to God for the marriage supper of the Lamb, which I believe will be the millennium for all of God's people. But then in verse 11, and I'm jumping through this chapter because I want to focus on the last part. In verse 11, Jesus comes back. He's gonna come back not alone. He's not coming back to lie in a manger. He's not coming back to die on a cross. He's not coming back to be laid in a tomb. No, he's coming back with a different mission this time, with a different focus this time. He's not coming to save people from their sins, he's coming to judge people for their sins. And there are three things that jump out to me from verse 11 all the way to verse 21. I want you to see number one, the person or the people. in this last great battle. And then I want you to see the place, because God tells us the exact place this last great confrontation will occur. And then number three, you'll see in this chapter, the great penalty and the purification of the earth. Three Ps, a person, a place, and a penalty. that will be handed out. Number one, let's see the person. It says in verse 11 that suddenly heaven opens. The sea now is going to move from the great worship in heaven, the great praise in heaven, down to earth. Jesus Christ is going to be sent on a white horse. The last animal he rode upon was a donkey. going into Jerusalem to die on the cross. This time he's riding on a horse of war, a horse that will bring him to a place where he will execute judgment, where he will destroy those who have opposed him. And his name is faithful and true, and his eyes were as flames of fire. It wasn't that his eyes were fire, but they were like flames of fire. They could see. They had this burning quality. They could see through the hypocrisy and the lies and the deception that the Antichrist had perpetrated across this earth for seven years. And here comes Jesus Christ. And you know, this battle, is not merely a battle between rival armies. This battle is the final battle of the ages between good and evil, between God and the devil. But Jesus is not coming back alone. Look at verse 14. It says, and the armies, plural, which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen." White and clean. He's coming with a great army. In fact, he's coming with great armies. Now, I don't know about you, I'm not keen to get on horses, I must be honest. I've rode on a camel in Israel. That was not a very pleasant experience. I've rode on a horse in Turkey, and I don't know which experience was worse. So I hope I'm exempted from this. But maybe you like to ride on horse. Well, you'll get a good ride on a white horse if you get to heaven before the Lord returns. And he's coming with his armies. And who are the armies? Who are the saints? Who are the holy ones that come from heaven? Yes, they're the angels. For sure. But who else is inhabiting heaven? All the way through the book of Revelation, who do we read as praising and worshiping alongside the angels in heaven? It's all the saints of God. And here they come. And they're coming to a particular place with the Lord Jesus Christ. Aren't you glad that Jesus Christ is on our side? So the great person in this story leading this army is the one who is faithful and true, the one who never fails, the one who has all power. But then look at the place. Where exactly will this army meet the Lord Jesus Christ, this opposition army? Well, we're not exactly told here, in chapter 19, but we're given the GPS location in chapter 16. So if you go back just a few chapters, it's easy to remember Revelation 16, 16. And here in Revelation 16, 16, this great final battle, the exact coordinates, the exact location are revealed to us. It's not Antiville. It's not Craigie Hill. It's not Inver. It's not Millbrook. We're told it's a place known in the Hebrew language as Armageddon or Har Megiddo. And if you were to go to the land of Israel today, that plain of Megiddo surrounded by the hills where that Hebrew word ha comes from, is this great plain where this final battle of the ages will take place. So the Bible tells us that this final great confrontation happens at the plain of Megiddo, or Har-Magedon, to call, to give it the name of the whole area. In fact, the Bible tells us that the battle will spill over from there right up to the walls and the inside of the city of Jerusalem. Now, how will the armies get there? Well, we know Jesus Christ is coming from heaven with his armies. So how will the Antichrist and his armies get there? Well, you have to understand there's two forces going to be at work. On one hand, The devil and the Antichrist and all the demonic forces will whip up this hatred to draw his forces to this particular location, to come against the city of Jerusalem, to destroy it. But somebody else is standing behind them. Unknowingly to them, unwitting to them, he's drawing them to this trap. If you read Revelation 16, 16 again, and if you like to underline things in your Bible, the subject of this verse is always worth underlining in verse 16. It says, and he, speaking of God, it's not the devil. There's someone behind the devil, acting out behind the drama, leading and guiding to his ultimate purpose and plan. God is at work. And he allows Satan and all his demonic forces to stir up this hatred, this frenzy, to bring their forces to the battle of Armageddon. And it says, and he gathered them together. God allows it. Because God's bringing them to this place to trap them, to destroy them. Now who will go in these forces? If you go back to Zechariah chapter 14 in the Old Testament, we have a parallel account of what's going on that day at the Battle of Armageddon. Because in Zechariah chapter 14, it's a penultimate book of the Old Testament, God reveals who will be there with the Antichrist and the false prophet. And it says in chapter 14, verse 1, behold, the day of the Lord cometh, and thy spoils shall be divided in the midst of thee. And then here we go, verse 2, for I, that's God again, taking responsibility for this great confrontation. God says, I will gather. Now, who's he going to gather? He says, I will gather all nations. Now, that's a Hebrew word that means all the Gentile nations, all the non-Jewish nations will join with this Antichrist's army. and come against the city of Jerusalem, the plain of Megiddo. And of course we see that politically today when all the countries of the world line up at the United Nations to condemn Israel. We see it on social media today when all the anti-Semites or Jew haters from every corner of the earth line up to pour their hatred against the Jewish people. Doesn't happen by coincidence. The demonic forces are at work, stirring up the hatred, preparing the minds and particularly amongst the young. And even in the United States, the number one ally of the Israel people, the Jewish people, the first country to recognize the state of Israel in 1948 was America. their greatest helper, their greatest funder, their greatest supplier of weapons, even in the United States, in their colleges and campuses, tens of thousands of students have marched and protested. And what are they screaming and waving and saying? Death to the Jews! Eliminate the State of Israel! And they go on to social media to proclaim their hatred of the Jewish people in their thousands. I was reading this week, even Elon Musk, who's not a Christian by any stretch of the imagination, he's not even a Jew, not a particularly religious man, said he was astounded. He couldn't grasp the depth of hatred on social media. that he sees through his platform towards the Jewish people. And as he looked throughout history, he couldn't understand and couldn't fathom, couldn't give an explanation for how long it has lasted and how across the centuries it has gone on. It's the oldest hatred in the world. And it's the deepest hatred in the world. And the Bible tells us why. because the devil is gathering his people against Israel, against Jerusalem, the place that he knows, or a lot of Christians don't know, but he knows where the final confrontation of the age is going to be. You see, Jesus Christ was what? A Jew. From the city, which city did he die? Jerusalem. Which city did he rise from the dead from? Jerusalem. Which city did he send out his apostles to take the gospel from? Where? Jerusalem. And then to Judea and then to the outermost parts of the earth. Which city did he say the gospel will come back to? Jerusalem. And which city will Jesus Christ return to? Jerusalem. Well, Satan knows. He's aware. And all throughout history, he's had his eyes on the Jews. and that city of Jerusalem. That's why today you see the hatred manifest itself. Even in this country of ours, we have people standing out in the freezing cold and the rain, waving these flags and carrying these banners that express their hatred of the Jewish people. Just last week, I read of a Israeli man who went to a law firm in England to get a mortgage. Just came as a customer and the lawyer said to him, your accent, he said, where are you from? And he said, I'm from Israel. And the man said, I have to stop you there. He said, I can't serve you because I dislike the Jewish people and the Israeli government so much that I couldn't stomach having to work for you. He says, I'll get another lawyer in the firm to handle your transaction. He says, but I won't do it. If that had been any other race, any other group, they'd be protesting on the streets, wouldn't they? They'd be burning the whole firm down. But because it's the Jews, no one cares. The hated race of people from the hated city and the hated country of Israel. And the Bible says they're going to gather, they're all the nations, and they're gathered ultimately by God to that place, Armageddon, because God has something to unleash. Go back to Revelation 19. It says in verse 17, and here's the penalty now, He is the purging now when Jesus arrives. It says, and I saw an angel standing in the sun. Well, actually, let's go to verse 15 first, because that tells us the instrument of the judgment. It says, and out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations. Now, we saw that word nations, didn't we, in Zechariah 14? He's coming. He's coming with a sword. And Jesus Christ is coming to destroy all the forces of evil at the battle of Armageddon. Now here's the amazing thing. Although we call it a battle, this is very different from any other war in history. Very different from any other battle in history. Because this battle is over before you can even say the name Armageddon. This battle is different from any other battle because on one side, all the casualties are there. And on the other side of the battle, there's not a single casualty. And in a moment of time, the Lord Jesus Christ destroys all the opposition. And we're told in verse 17, the angel calls all the wild vultures and scavengers of the earth to feast on the carcasses of those who were destroyed at the battle of Armageddon by the Lord Jesus Christ. But to go back to Zechariah 14, keep your finger on Revelation 19. I know we're jumping around, but you have to just to get the fullness. of the context. Why and how does the Lord Jesus Christ destroy them? Well, we've read in Revelation the sharp sword out of his mouth, but what will be the procedure? Verse 2 of Zechariah 14, we've read, he gathers all nations together against Jerusalem to And then in verse three it says, then shall the Lord go forth and fight against those nations as when he fought in the day of battle. So here he goes. Now where will he come? The Savior, this Messiah. Verse four, and his feet. Notice all these words are so significant. His, it's a person. It's not a force. It's a person. His feet shall touch in that day upon the Mount of Olives. Now let me do you a little simple quiz. Who left from the Mount of Olives 2,000 years ago? Jesus Christ. Who said, as he went up into heaven, this same Jesus that ye so go up shall so come back in like manner." Who said that? The angels told the apostles. Where? From where? The Mount of Olives. And here in Zechariah 14 verse 4, we're told the same Jesus is coming back to the exact same place. And what will he do to those nations that have come for this battle of Armageddon? Verse 12 of Zechariah 14. And this shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem. Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth." It's as if God just blows them all apart with a nuclear bomb. I'm not saying he will use a nuclear bomb. because the Bible says, in him all things consist. And one of the things you learn when you do physics at school is that within the atomic structure, there are these great forces that God has brought together, the strong nuclear force and the weak nuclear force and all of these things, and God just simply has to unleash them. The God who spoke them into existence can speak them out of existence. And he unleashes this power. And it literally burns them to death before they have a chance to lift a sword. Before a gun is shot, a bullet is fired, they're all dead. They burn alive. And they get a little foretaste of hell on earth before they arrive in it forevermore. That's the battle of Armageddon. That's what happens. But go back to Revelation chapter 19, because there are two other individuals that have cursed this planet and have violated this planet for seven years leading up to this battle. A man called the Antichrist, the fake Christ, the false Christ, and a man that's called the false prophet. We first run into them in Revelation 13, and they're given great detail about them there. Now, what's going to happen to them? Are they just going to burn at the battle of Armageddon with all the rest when Jesus arrives with his armies? Oh, no. God has a special place for them. Because these two individuals have deceived the planet. These two individuals have caused havoc and mayhem on this planet. These two individuals have boasted that they are God. They have said that you don't need Jesus Christ. We're the real Christ. We're the real Messiah. And when Jesus Christ comes back, look at verse 20 of Revelation 19. It says, and the beast, that's the antichrist, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast and them that worshiped his image. So here's the two individuals identified. Here's the penalty for them. We see the penalty for the crowd that's with them. They just burn up on the battlefield. But these two prominent individuals, these two prominent men, what's going to happen to them? Look at verse 20, the end of it. These both were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. God just sent the angels or Jesus Christ sent the angels and says, throw them into hell. Throw them into the lake of fire. and there they're abandoned forevermore. Now, of course, there's three members of this unholy trinity. There's the devil, there's the antichrist, and the false prophet. We read about them all in Revelation 13. Two are now condemned forever in the lake of fire. What about the third one? Well, you'll have to come back next time when we do Revelation 20. It's like one of these soap operas, isn't it? Come back tomorrow and you get the rest of the information. You come back next week and Revelation 20 tells us how God will deal permanently, forever with the devil. And it'll happen 1,000 years after the destruction of the Antichrist and the false prophet. They'll get the lake of fire 1,000 years in advance. But that's their end. Let me wrap this up. The return of Jesus Christ. In heaven, the thought of his return brings great joy, great praise, great rejoicing in the hearts and the tongues of all God's people. But the return of Jesus Christ to those on earth, there's no rejoicing. There's no laughing. There's no cheering. Because when Jesus comes back, he's not coming back to those on earth to bless them, to forgive them, but to destroy them. And I'm here to tell you tonight, if you're not a Christian, you're not saved. The next time you meet Jesus Christ, he's coming to destroy you. The next time you meet Jesus Christ, he's coming as your judge, not as your savior. Tonight, he's here in Larne Mission Hall. Tonight, he's willing and able to save you from your sins. Tonight, he extends the hand of mercy and forgiveness. But if you don't take the hand of mercy and you don't take the hand of forgiveness, the next time you'll see him, he'll be coming on the white horse. and he'll be coming as King of Kings and Lord of Lords to destroy you. The final history of this world has been written. It's been written in terms of the schedule, in terms of the location, in terms of the timing. And as you look around the world today, all the actors are in place for the return of Jesus Christ. In fact, if you look around the world today, it reads as if you're reading the book of Revelation. It's all there. The stage has now been set. The actors are in their place. The nation of Israel is the central actor in that drama. And it's a most remarkable nation, because the nation of Israel throughout its history has been a tiny, vulnerable, weak, defenseless people. For 2,000 years, they lost their land. For 2,000 years, they lost their king, their government. They lost their army. For 2000 years, they've been hated and persecuted and driven from place to place, scattered throughout this earth. And no nation in history has ever recovered from such a loss, no nation. Satan has tried to destroy them using the great superpowers of the history of this world. He's tried the Pharaohs. He's tried the Babylonians and the Assyrians to destroy them. The Greeks and the Romans had a go at it. Then Hitler had a go at it, didn't he? The czars of Russia had a go at it. And in the last 12 months, Hamas and Hezbollah and Iran's had a go at it. And what does history tell us? That Israel lives. Not because it's great. but because the God of Israel is great and the God of Israel lives. Their very existence tonight, their very survival tonight is evidence and proof of the existence of God. But their very existence as a nation in the Middle East, not just scattered across the earth, their very existence and their survival and their prosperity in the Middle East tonight is evidence that not only that God exists, but is evidence that Jesus Christ is coming very soon. Make no mistake. Because the Bible tells us that Jerusalem will be trodden down of the Gentile people, will be controlled by the Gentile people. And for 2,000 years, that's what happened. But then the Bible tells us at the very end of time, the Jews would be regathered to their ancient homeland, back in control of the city of Jerusalem. And you can click the time switch on now. The clock of the last hour now has begun. They're back in the land. They're back in control of the city of Jerusalem. God has driven them from every corner of the earth back to their homeland. If you were to walk the streets of Jerusalem tonight, you would see black Jews from Ethiopia. You'd see Jews from China. That would surprise you, look Chinese. You'd see Jews from Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany, Britain, Canada, North America. You'd see Jews from South Africa and Australia and New Zealand and all of South America. And they're all back there, exactly where God said they're going to be. in control of the city of Jerusalem, in unbelief, and the devil is mad about it. Have you noticed? He's furious. Why? Because Satan knows that when the Jews come back to the city of Jerusalem, that Zechariah 14 is about to begin, and the king is coming. and he's not coming to be received of the Gentiles. Zechariah 12 verse 10 tells us, when he comes back to that ancient city, at the end of the ages, for this great battle of Armageddon, all the world will be gathered there against the Jews, and who is going to receive him as their Lord and their Savior? The Jewish people. Time is almost up, isn't it? for you, for me, but time is almost up for this world. We really don't have long to go. Sinner tonight in Lorne Mission Hall. Are you ready? Are you ready? It doesn't really matter what you have achieved in this world. It doesn't matter what you have accrued in this world. If you die without Jesus Christ, You'll go to that lake of fire with the devil, with the antichrist, and with the false prophet, and you'll go there forevermore. Don't be a fool. Join the winning side. Come to Jesus Christ. Come and have your sins washed away. I often say this, there's nothing Let me repeat it. There's nothing on earth worth going to hell for. Nothing. Don't sell your soul for something that's worthless. Let us pray. Father, we thank you for this great story, history written in advance of how this world is going to end. It's not going to end with a nuclear catastrophe. a biological accident or some climate change byproduct or failure. No, this world is going to end when Jesus comes from heaven with all of his armies and his feet will touch the Mount of Olives and all the enemies of God's people will be destroyed. And the Bible says in that day, the Lord will be king over all the earth. King of kings, Lord of lords. Jesus has won the victory. And all we can say tonight is what John said at the end of the book of Revelation. Maranatha, even so, come. Lord Jesus, for we ask all these things in Jesus' precious name. Amen. There's no other hymn I can sing tonight to close our service but 480. We sing this often when we think about the second coming, but having read that great battle of Armageddon, the story of it, the consummation of the ages, This hymn speaks of that great judgment. He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored, and he has loosed his fateful lightning of the terrible swift sword. His truth is marching on. Let's stand as we sing 480, we're close to this. You're a Christian, you sing this well. My eyes have seen the glory of the King of the Lord.
