God sets the terms of our relationship with Him in His covenants. We cannot be in relationship with Him (i.e., we cannot have life in Him or be justified before Him) apart from adherence to His covenants. Thus it is vital that we understand the nature of the Old and the New Covenants. The Old Covenant is ended. To try to relate to God by it will only end in condemnation.
