Three reasons why Jesus bids us come and die to ourselves with him when we become his followers. First, because the cross is what love necessarily and inevitably looks like in a fallen world; second, we must follow Christ's example; finally, we are summoned to bear our cross as we follow Jesus for the sake of our witness to the world as the body of Christ.
