Transfigured/Prefigured
Series Gospel of Mark
62
The Transfiguration was not merely an isolated event in Jesus' own life, and therefore reduced to being but a splendid enigma of little consequence to our daily lives. The Transfiguration retrospectively casts a reminding glow on the original glory which God intended for humanity, later tragically forfeited by idolatry. And Jesus' experience on the mountaintop likewise presages the future recovery of that glory for redeemed humanity, which Jesus will share with us in our resurrected and transformed existence in the world to come through the Spirit.
