Welcome to a brand new set or series of classes We're gonna do the book of Ephesians I Know I'm probably the only one out there anywhere teaching from Greek and Hebrew all the time like I do Because first of all they aren't anybody With the ability to do it. I'm from an old school of Baptist preachers that they want this seminary and they strove very hard to to receive a Doctorate of Bible Languages degrees, not just a THD, but a DBL. And I had nine years of Greek and six years of Hebrew in class, if you want to know about that. And we're going to start. By the way, I've written an interlinear commentary grammatical study on every book. in the New Testament and several of them in the Old Testament. So we're working on the Book of Exodus right now. Also, we lay Shemot. So that's what it looks like as we go through there. I'll give you the page numbers and the lexicons. And by the way, Donald Grewar over there in Wales, Here is the analytical lexicon that I quote from, and give you numbers from, from the analytical lexicon. If it's not yours or somebody else's, I'll tell you. This is written by Zongerman. It's probably by Zongerman, that is. And you can look at it right there. Hopefully. Get that up there where you can read it and do a snapshot or whatever you want to, so you can order it. It hasn't been printed since the 1970s. And there are the printing dates on it also. Right there. So now you've got access to that, possibly. It's the best one that I've ever seen. There are three shelves I have six feet wide of Greek study books up there. And I quote from them. I'll tell you where it comes from. Sometimes I'll read from it. We're going to do the book of Ephesians. Now, the book of Ephesians is not the book of Ephesians. It was a circular letter. In the oldest manuscripts, in Ephesus, it was not there. In Ephesus means in Ephesus. It means the saints, the ones being everywhere. It's a circular letter. Now I'm going to read to you from an introduction here of the book of Ephesians, and I'm going to read my introduction also because we need to get an introduction to this book. This is one of the most fantastic books in the New Testament period. No way in the world did Paul the Apostle write this book without inspiration. This book is from heaven. It comes right down from heaven. The Breathings of God from heaven. Ephesus was the capital of the pro-council of Asia. It was about one mile inland from the eastern part of the Aegean Sea. A great theater seating 50,000 people was located there. Acts 19 and verse 31. By the way, the book of Acts is a wonderful historical a biblical historical book. It tells you about the acts of the churches, not only the apostles, but the churches. Also one of the seven wonders of the world, the temple of Diana, Artemis, was located in Ephesus. Next to Jerusalem and Antioch, Ephesus proved to be a very powerful springboard for the influencing world for the churches of the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul visited Ephesus during his second missionary journey in Acts 18, 18-21. He left Aquila and Prisca there to help them. He spent three years in Ephesus, and on his third tour, Acts 19, he exerted so much influence that there was the idol makers became worried and incited a riot against him. He had to leave for Macedonia in Acts 20, verse 1. On his return trip heading for Jerusalem, he asked the elders of the Ephesian congregation to meet him at Miletus, 35 miles to the north, on a quick stopover in Acts 20, 16 through 38. Ephesians is one of Paul's five prison epistles. Probably written while in prison in Rome from about AD 60 through 64, Ephesians, Colossians, and Philemon were written about the same time. And Paul's letter to the Laodiceans in Colossians 4.16, it says it does not survive, but I have someplace the letter of Laodicea written in Greek, the original form. They have found it since this was written. The Ephesian letter was addressed to the congregation in Ephesus. That's not correct either. It was not addressed to Ephesus. It was addressed to all the circular, all the churches. This is what we call a general epistle or a circular letter. It says here, it was attended as a circular letter to other area churches also. This may account for the absence of specific information in the letter. Also, there is a textural problem. one-on-one the words at Ephesus are absent from this from the oldest manuscripts and many of them Ephesians is quite simply Colossians Colossians both of these letters prove the deity of Jesus Christ when you go into John the first chapter John 8 chapter John the 10th chapter and then you go into Ephesians and Colossians you'll see that the deity of Jesus Christ is in is the subject. Period. That's it. The subject. There are 78 verses between which were almost the same. Each is devoted to half to doctrine and half to practical Christian duty. Colossians portrays Christ as the head of the church. So does Ephesians. Ephesians goes further and displays Jesus as ascended, glorified, Christ in Colossians Paul is within the throes of fighting against a serious heresy, but in Ephesus Paul is relishing the grandeur of Christ in quiet meditation. As we go through the book of Ephesians, it's going to be, I haven't done this book for over 20 years. And so it's a great refreshing for me and I have learned things since then also. Paul's letter to the Ephesians, or to the book of Ephesians, is profound. The major theme of Ephesus is the church, Ekklesia, once called Ekk and Kallio. This is a Greek term that was used even in the time of Alexander the Great, because every city-state of the whole nation, everybody was part of the Greek empire that great empire, but they made up their own minds. It was like little democracies within a great empire. A church is a democracy. A true church is a democracy. It is not run by hierarchy. It's not run by bishops. It's not run by popes or archbishops or anything like that at all. It's run by the people. Every church is an independent church. that makes up their own mind, they call their pastors, they pay their pastors, they build their church houses or whatever they do, rent one or whatever. The church is a visible, local assembly of people. But there are many churches in the world, the church as an institution. The churches are always visible and independent. It is a representative of Christ on the earth. The church is the administrator of God's kingdom on the earth in the time that we live in now. The church age is right here and began from the calling out of the church as the sea source of Galilee and will end with the rapture of the church. The Jews and Gentiles are now one in one body. If a Jew wants to really worship God, he's going to have to go and join a New Testament church. That's it. It's not in the synagogue anymore. There was a lot of division during Paul's time between the Judaizers and they killed him once at least and persecuted him heavily. And of course he was persecuting the churches of the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, I'm the least of all apostles because I persecuted the church of Jesus Christ, which is him. The church today represents Jesus Christ in the world today. God's plan of salvation is to be portrayed and sent out by the church. That's the administrator of God's kingdom in the world. Paul tried to teach the Jewish people that the Gentiles were their brothers in Christ and on the same foundation as they were. The grace of God soars above all what we might call ethnic Boundaries every genie of people within the world or if they're in a New Testament Church They're all brothers in Christ because we come from one man anyway, and that's Adam and Eva We've got a lot of new listeners there in the Philippines in the last month or so Thank you for visiting us, and I hope that we're blessing you with God's Word and As you are little independent churches over there, we are a little independent church here in the wilds of Nevada. The large gift from the Gentile congregation's offer to the Jewish brethren in need in Judea in Acts 24, 17, 18, Romans 15, 25-28, 2 Corinthians 8, 1-15, and Galatians 2 and 10 bound the Jews and the Gentiles together as one in Christ. Paul tried to promote a better feeling among the Jews and the Gentile Christians, because there was no difference. Even in the council at Jerusalem, they tried to put some of the Jewish dietary laws upon the Christians, which really didn't work. They never followed them. even though James, the brother of the Lord, tried to do that. He said not eat things offered with blood and all that kind of stuff. Crisis over and over all the races in the world. We had one of the most racist societies in America in the last four years that I've ever seen in my life. It started actually with Obama. Racism, racism, racism, racism. There is no Gender in gender or race in Christ Jesus at all, and it shouldn't be that way in politics either And now I think we're going back. I think people are waking up Paul used several figures of speech explaining the relationship between Christ and the church the church is like the body with Christ as a head Ephesians 1 22 23 to 15 and 16 that's a church is like a building and with Christ as a chief cornerstone, and Peter said that also. Peter is not the rock the church was built upon. The rock the church was built upon is Petra, Jesus, not Petros, Peter. It's different. Petra is a gigantic stone. Petros is a small stone. He is the head of that church. The church is like a wife with Christ as a husband. God's chosen people have been set free from sin by Jesus. They've been set free from all racial distinction by Jesus and all gender by Jesus. Women, I didn't hear you say amen. Yeah, all gender. We're all one in Christ. In the book of Ephesians, we see election. We see the foreknowledge of God. We see the gospel of Jesus Christ. Now, let's get into this wonderful book. Paulus Apostolus Christus Isu, Deia Thelematos Theotois, Agios Theus, Usen, blank. No enephisis. in Ephesus is not there, that's in brackets. Kai pistois in Chrisousou. Paulos, Apostolos. Paulos, that's nomine singular masculine, that's a proper noun. It means one short or stocky, that's what Paul means. His name before this was what? Saul Saul one asked for one call one called out Saul and Sheol or from the same verb in Hebrew See hell or shield is the place ask about and they asked for a king. So God gave him Saul Today the church is the espoused Bride of Christ. It's his espoused bride not married yet, but she's his espoused bride Paulos Apostolos Now that comes from apo and stelo in Greek. Apo means from, and stelo, to send. And apostle means one sent out with great authority, one sent out with great divine or royal authority. Paul, apostle, now it tells you from where he sent out, from Christo isu. Christo means the anointed one, the Hamashiah in Hebrew. and it's operative singular masculine, that he, it's sent out from him, and it belongs to him. From Christo eisou. Dia, by the means of, or by the agency of, that's a preposition there. Thelematos. Thelematos, that comes from thelo, thy wish or will. Thelematos means the spiritual activating force of God. the spiritual activating force, the telematos. Siou, belonging to God and from God. Genitive and oblative in some ways. Siou. Tois, hagios, tois, usin. Tois, to the ones, dative, plural, masculine, definite, or article. Hagios, saints, means ones not of earth. When you're born of the earth, you're born from a man and a woman. When you're born from above, you're born from God, and you have the spirit of God in you. When you're born into this world, you have the spirit of Adam in you, you have the blood of Adam in you, and the blood of Adam in you is what's going to cause you to die. It's a death-dealing infection of sin. But the spirit of God in you, the spirit that comes and dwells in you and comforts you and guides you, that spirit will last forever. To the ones, the holy ones, to the ones being, wherever. That's deity, plural, masculine, present, participle, from Amy, the ones being, and then you can put down in Fish Lake Valley, you can put down in Tehachapi, you can put down in Bakersfield, California, or in the Philippines, or in Brother Max down there, and New Zealand, and Australia, and India, wherever you are. Ones being in, and then it says chi. Chi here is a conjunction, page 208, but it means, it's a conjunction, all right, but it also is a cumulative particle to the ones in blank, wherever. Also, also. Ones faithful. Pistiois. Pistiois. Faithful ones. Dated plural myosin. in Christ Jesus. In Preposition 137, Christo, Esu, Locative Singular Masculine Christo, Locative Singular Masculine Esus. You know what? Many of the old manuscripts in the early, what we call Church Fathers, they did not have the N-ephesus there at all. So this was always considered a circular letter. Verse number one, we got through that, didn't we? Jehovah created man in his image. Jehovah drove Adam from the garden when he sinned. Jehovah divided the earth and confused the languages. Right here, over in this period of time. I want you to look at this chart. Jehovah passed over Egypt and slew all of the unblooded people He conquered all the gods in Egypt This Jehovah El Shaddai the all-powerful one tells us that God nourishes us, He takes care of us, and even though we're in the world, I want you to think about the Apostle Paul being in jail, and Peter and the others in jail, tortured, starved, and yet when they sang praises of God, they were in heavenly places. And it's going to tell you that here. Qariz himen kai reine, apu theopatros himon, kai kurio esu, Grace to. Grace, caris, unmerited favor, kindness, free gift. It says later on in the book, it says, for in grace ye are having been saved through faith in that not of yourselves is a gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. For we are his creation in Christ Jesus. Grace to you all. Caris. Grace and kindness and tenderness to you all. That's deity, plural, second person, pronoun, now he, me, and then Chi, and conjunction, page 208, and Rainey. And Rainey, the opposite of fear, and I had my little book up here the other day, Bullinger's Amillennial Lexicon, page 575, I'll walk over here and get that. I have to walk around the camera. If I could find Brother Hubbard's Bible, I would show you the little, uh, and I know what's around here someplace. Page 575. Here it is. Peace. And rainy. Shalom. And Bullinger gives all of it. Peace rests in contrast with strife, denoting the absence or end of strife, as influenced by the Hebrew olam, a state of health, well-being it donates a state untroubled undisturbed well-being the peace which is the result of forgiveness enjoyed must not be confounded with the peace Christ has made by the blood of his cross the peace of God and Philippians 4 and 7 is the peace which God has as being free from all anxiety and care and arising from his pre or perfectly knowing the future in proportion thereof, as we, got to turn the page here, as we make our request unto him, a measure of the peace which he has will keep us from being careful or full of care. And then it gives the long line of things here, peace, to live in peace. to keep peace, to have peace, to live in peace, to hold on to peace. Siopao, to be silent and still, to keep silent and keep secret, also when to speak and when not to speak. Siagio, to be silent and still when speaking, to cease to speak, We don't have to speak. We don't even have to talk to God when we pray, do we? When we talk to God, we talk to God from our hearts, as the Holy Spirit sometimes just keeps us in tune with God. Sometimes our words, our mind, cannot even speak to God the way we want to in our prayers, and as I said, the Holy Spirit takes over. Peaceable. All these different terms. with that word peace, shalom. Peace, the opposite of fear, from God, apo, page 40 by the way, from God, operative singular, masculine, theos, God, theo, patros, we got a word theology out of that, theos, and then the father of us, God is our father, isn't he? If you've been born again, God is your father. If you haven't been born again, guess who's your father? It's not surely not God, If you haven't been born again, you've got to get away from that old boy. Satan, the father of you all, and Chi conjunction Kyrio Esu, the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus. God's unpreventable progress is eternal purposes in this book. Eulogatos, Ho Theos, Chi Pater, Let's see if it's got... That's it. Let's look at this now. You know Gatos that means a blessed well-spoken of El Shaddai the all-nourishing one the all-powerful one Jacob's last words what he spoke was blessing and and exalting the name of God in Christ Blessed well spoken of the God whole feels whole nominee singular masculine definite article fails Nominee singular masculine definite or noun and are also Patro the father Potter to Tyrrell the father of the Lord of us now this word Lord here is The word Lord here in the Old Testament, kirios, is also Jehovah. The father of the Lord of us, Jesus Christ, but he is Jehovah. The name Jehovah means he who shall become. In John 1.14 it says, and the word, or the Jehovah flesh he became and dwelt among us. And we beheld the glory, the glory of God, the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. No man has seen God at any time, but the only begotten God, the one being in the bosom of the Father, that one has led himself out. John 1.18. As you read this book, you have to go back to John. Because that's what he's talking about. He's talking about the eternal God, Jesus, Jehovah, that became flesh, the covenant God of Israel, the father, the Lord of us, Jesus Christ, the one whole. Now that's not what a single nice and definite article, the one there. One is a practical substance because we know what we're talking about. The One having blessed, having spoken well of us in all blessings. Spiritual. In the heavenlies. In Christ Jesus. When you're in church, you are in heaven. Do you know that? Think about that for a while. When you're in church, you're in a little piece of heaven. When what takes on place in a church, it is part of heaven. We have God's administration, his administrators on earth. And so what we do here has something to do with heaven. What we bind on earth will have been bound in heaven. What we loose on earth will have already been bound in heaven. Beautiful, beautiful. The promise, Exodus 3, 14. Go back there for just a moment. Exodus 3.14. Jesus said that he was the great I am of the Old Testament. John 8.58 and 10, the 10th chapter, Moses said to God, behold, I'm going to the sons of Israel. And I shall say to them, the God of your fathers has sent me to you. And now they may say to me, what is his name? What shall I say to them? And God said to Moses, I am that I am. I am that I am. And he said, thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, I am has sent you to me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I am that I am I Am the eternal one and John 1 and 1 is that the nrk in beginning? Kept on being the Jehovah or the word and the word kept on being toward the God and in several part of the godhood because that weren't last Chi there Chi Oh Otheos or Chi-Logos, Otheos or Chi-Theos, Ho-Logos, any way you want to put it. It's a practical substance. It's a predicate nominative there. The Word kept on being God, or the Jehovah kept on being God, and God kept on being Jehovah. And they're one and the same, number, gender, and case. Wonderful, Exodus 3.14, I am that I am, and this is the I am. John said, this is the great I am in John 1.14, 1.18, and 1.11. Our last verse in this message. Kathos, exodatos, hemos, enatuopro, katabales, cosmu, ene, hemos, hagios, kai, amumus, cotton 10 no p.m. I'll tow and I could pay we're going to read this a little bit but we'll read it again in the next class too because this is too big for one class this is a monster birth right here is the monster birth the church in the family of God are two different entities Wow That's different, isn't it, guys? The church and the family of God are two different entities. Everybody in the family of God are all those that are saved, that have asked the Lord Jesus Christ to save their soul, and God has forgiven them of their sins. But the church is a body of believers that are scripturally baptized, bound together as a unit in each place to carry out the gospel and be administrators of God's kingdom. And that Those faithful ones shall be in the Bride of Christ. Those faithful ones shall be in the Bride of Christ. To be in the Bride of Christ, it is totally separate from the family of God. Family of God, everybody's saved. Whether you're a Catholic, if you're saved as a Catholic, whether you are a Presbyterian or whatever you are, a Methodist, if you've been born again, if you really ask the Lord to save your soul, not trusting in baptism or anything else, you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God's in flesh, if you believe that He died on the cross of Calvary, and you come to Him without a mediator, He's the only mediator between man and God, you go to a priest, you go to a preacher or somebody else, it's null and void. You go to God. You go to God and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and save your soul. Then you're born again. And the Word of God will lead you to follow God. To follow Him in baptism. To follow Him in trying to set your life like God would want you to have your life. It'll guide you into the true doctrines of God, which we're doing classes on that also. These are the things that God wants you to do. First of all, be saved. Then after you're saved, the Word of God will lead you one place, and that's to God's churches. There's so much confusion in the world today. that people don't know what a church is. They don't know anything about what I'm... Some people today that have been so-called Christians all their life and gone to church all their life don't understand half of what I said today. Because they're not part of one of those real true New Testament churches and assemblies. Father, we send this message out for your honor and glory. Please use it wherever it goes. I pray for those in the Philippines that are studying these new classes and And I pray for Don over there, and Wales, and people all over the world, and China, the Philippines, and Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Netherlands. I know about you all over the world. I just pray that these messages are building you up in Christ. Please use your word wherever it goes. In Jesus name I pray and please forgive me where I fail you. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
