The Holiness of the Spirit

A Prayer from Galatians 5:16-18

Father in heaven,

Thank You for the hope of holiness through Your Spirit. Sanctification is such a battle and our failures are so frequent. We are tempted, vexed, and persecuted every day by the world, the flesh, and the devil. But as we gather this Lord's Day to worship You, our holy God, we rejoice that we are counted righteousness through Christ. Moreover, we rejoice that we have the constant ministry of Your Holy Spirit to put to death the desires of the flesh. Father, Lord Jesus, thank You for sending the Helper, the Comforter. Thank You for Your promise that if we walk by the Spirit, we will not gratify the desires
of the flesh. Teach us that the law cannot sanctify us though it reveals your good will. Help us to praise You every day for working in us practical holiness by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You for stirring us up to will and to do Your good pleasure. Help us to worship with Your saints by the Holy Spirit and to live by His power through Christ Jesus our Lord.
