The Ransom for Many

In contrast to his disciples jockeying for their own status, Jesus states for fundamental truths basic to the Gospel, as seen in v.45:

1. Christ came to earth from heaven.
2. He came not to be served, but to serve.
3. He came to give his life a ransom.
4. He came to give his life a ransom for many.
   Point #3 is an overview of the Biblical concept of "ransom" and how the ransom that delivered God's people from the guilt and punishment of their sin was the shed blood of Jesus on Calvary's cross.
