Walk and talk

The day of his resurrection, our Lord meets two despondent disciples on the road to Emmaus. Drawing near, he engages in conversation, asking naive-sounding questions which draw out the distress and unbelief in their hearts. The Lord responds by taking them on a tour of the Scriptures which set forth the sufferings and the glory which belong to Messiah, and the connection between them. Though as yet they do not recognise him, nevertheless their hearts are burning within them. May we not be so foolish today in grieving over the cross and doubting the crown.
