The King Who Failed - and the King Who Never Does

THe King we need is not just one who starts well, but one who does all things well and never fails. King Asa of Judah started well, but ended badly, forgetting to seek God, and instead making a covenant with King Ben-Hadad of Syria and ignoring God. He would not listen to God's rebuke, and ended wretchedly, though he was laid in a rock-cut tomb. He points us by contrast to Christ, who was and is ever faithful, and though he was buried, was raised from the dead and lives for ever to save his people.
