19 This Light of Mine
Series Mark
- It was said of Andrew Gray after his death at age 22: "He shone too conspicuously to last long and burned so intensely that he behooved soon to be extinguished; but he now shines in the kingdom of his Father, in a more conspicuous refulgent manner; even as the brightness of the firmament and the stars for ever and ever."
The candle is a servant to the will of the master. We are to serve how and where Christ places us.
a) A candle doesn't self-ignite.
b) Candles have a small fire and the light they put out is very limited.
c) Candles are fragile and easily snuffed out.
d) A candle has a limited lifespan.
e) A candle has a purpose. - Christ expects something from you. If Jesus is your Lord, your master and savior; if Jesus has enflamed your soul with the light of life, then there is an obligation to you to shine forth.
