The Sacraments Keep You Going Until the End (How the Two Sacraments Are Similar)
Series Westminster Larger Catechism
Topical sermon based on the Westminster Larger Catechism question and answer 176, "Wherein do the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's supper agree?"
In Matthew 28:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 11:26, we see that baptism signifies Christ is with you in the Spirit until the end; and the Lords' Supper signifies that, in the end, Christ will come back for you in the flesh.
Because God ordained both sacraments, both will sustain you. The Spirit applies Christ and His redemption to your faith through both sacraments. The LORD confirms and affirms His gracious faithfulness to you in both sacraments. The Lord ensures the proper administration of both sacraments to you by His pastors. Both sacraments are designed to get you through this world and into the new one. The Sacraments Keep You Going Until the End.
