Christ the Purposeful Sustainer and King

The writer by saying that Christ "upholds the universe by the word of his power" is saying two things. First, that as God, Christ not only created the universe, but continually sustains it. But does so by the mere power of His will, His Word. Second, Christ continues to sustain the universe not just to do it, but rather He does so to accomplish His end.
