The Divine Warrior’s Salvation

In Isaiah 63:1–6, we observe 2 questions and answers describing the final coming of the Messiah as the Divine Warrior.

I. Q1: Who is this who comes?

A. From Eden (v. 1a, b).

B. In beauty and power (v. 1b-d).

A1: It is I, the Messiah and Divine Warrior.

A. Speaking in righteousness (v. 1e).

B. Mighty to save (v. 1f).

II. Q2: Why are your garments red like one who
treads a winepress (v. 2)?

A2: Because I have trodden the winepress of my enemies alone, and their blood stained my garments (vs. 3, 6).

A. For I desired vengeance and redemption, but there was no one to help (v. 4–5b).

B So I brought salvation myself
(v. 5c, d).
