The first mark of a healthy church is expositional preaching. It is not only the first mark; it is far and away the most important of them all, because if you get this one right all others should follow.
If you get everything else, every program and exercise guru. Every styalized coffee shop and eatery right. If all the people flock to your church because of your non-fat soy latte, custom Harley, YRR tattoo accross your forehead, your I'm a Missional pastor let's dialogue bumper sticker. If all the people see your new calvinist books and Reformers today magazines and everyone see's you as the IT guy who everyone should listen to, and yet you get the preaching of the Word of God wrong, the exegeteing of the words of life wrong, then you get the high honor of being directly responsible for possibly sending literally thousands to Hell for eternity. Pastors and Elders don't get this wrong! John 17:17 Sanctify them in the Truth your Word is Truth.
