Seeing God Through The Gospel
Thesis: Though as believers we live now in a sin-cursed world that can dampen our joy, we are to look to Christ and the reality of eternity to come and not miss the joy that brings to our lives today. Accordingly, Isaiah encourages us by reminding us that God is :
OUR SOVEREIGN CREATOR (v. 24)
- All things exist by him, through and for
him. And all are maintained (kept existing)
by him. - We should see God's thumbprints on and in
every area of our lives
- All things exist by him, through and for
OUR SUPERIOR CONCERN (v. 25)
- Because all is by him and for him, we
should not ask "Why me", but "For what
purpose God" - We MUST deny self to do this
- We are actually commanded to think and set
our minds on eternity - Ask yourself: What am I living for?
- Because all is by him and for him, we
OUR SUPREME COMMANDER (v. 26-28)
- God is working all for his good purposes
- We are commanded to have activity, actions,
thoughts, savings, etc with an eternal
basis.
CONCLUSION: God created all things and his entire plan throughout time is to work redemption/salvation for his people. We need to look to him and his eternal work and not be stuck on the fleeting, limited values of this world.
