Watch Your Step

Our feet are so crucial to our physical well-being, so it is important that we wear the right kind of shoes to protect our feet. The same is true in the spiritual realm. Our spiritual feet are to be 'shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.' What is meant by 'putting on preparation'? What is the 'gospel of peace'? The gospel of peace centers around the person of Jesus Christ! He is our peace. And the gospel of peace has both a horizontal and vertical dimension. Horizontally, we who are diverse can be one in Christ. And vertically, we who once were separated from God can now have 'peace with God." How does this 'gospel of peace' prepare us for the spiritual battle? It produces confidence to stand which comes from understanding our position in Christ and experiencing the presence of Christ. But it also promotes cooperation to stand together. Our advocate seeks to 'divide and conquer' or to isolate us. We need to stand together against the dark spiritual forces. We need to put on our spiritual combat boots--and watch our steps!
