No One But Jesus
Series Fresh Encounters With Jesus
The account of the transfiguration of Christ is deeply rooted in the Old Testament. And it invites us to see the glory of the Lamb of God in the New Testament. Israel saw the same Shekinah glory when they left Egypt when the Lord demonstrated His presence as a Pilar of cloud and fire (Exodus 13:21).
In our text, we see the same glory in the person of Jesus as reflected in His transfiguration. The chief representatives of the Law and the Prophets, Moses, and Elijah, also appear carrying on a conversation with Jesus. here, the veil of Jesus' humanity is lifted, and his true essence is allowed to shine through. Then the Father's voice is heard saying, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him." Like Peter, James, and John, you and I must hold on to this revelation for our comfort and a reason for the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the for us, the pillar of fire and cloud that guides God's children in this dark world. Does this truth mean anything to you?
