Lecture Six Understanding and Interpreting God's Word: Application #2 – The Questions
Series Understanding and Interpreting
): God's Word is holy, eternal, inerrant and holds absolute authority over all aspects of church doctrine, practice, faith and belief. In both teaching and understanding the Word of God three principles, each occompanied with a question, must be asked. #1 - The Law of Language – “What are the deffinitions of the key words in the verse?” For all interpretation is subject first to the defination of the key words in the pasage. #2 – Is the passage Doctrinal Revelation or Historcial Revelation? #3 – Is the passage Old Covenant or New Covenant? (Not Old Tesetament vs. New Testament). Most misunderstanings associated with Baptismal Regeneration, the Pentecosatal and Charasmatic movemetns and the Catholic – Protestant Schism can be correctly addressed if this three questions are aked and the prienciples of interpretation fatihfully applied.
