2. Creation, Redemption, Glory

73

The Spirit enables us to see by faith, the centrality of Christ's cross in the definite plan of God for creation (Acts 2:23). In Christ, we are taken up into our part in that plan. Making known this plan is gospel work (Eph. 1:4).

  1. Creation was always with a view to redemption, and glorification (Romans 8:18-30).
    a. The creational mandate. Gen. 1:26 Ps. 8.
    b. The apostolic mandate (Eph. 3:8-10).
    c. In union with Christ, eyes of faith see things from Jesus' ascended perspective, as stewards of the mysteries (1Cor. 4:1).

  2. God's Plan for 200 billion galaxies is dynamic and purposeful. In Christ, our lives are teleological, that is, they are goal oriented, moving towards the time of 'universal restoration' (Acts 3:21) announced long ago through the prophets.

  3. Understanding the Plan of God, we anticipate Jesus' coming appearing. In Matthew 25 Jesus' parables issue notes of warning, to prepare humanity for the telos (goal) of history. 1Cor.15:24-28 sets forth what is unfolding in God's plan now. The Book of Revelation colourfully expounds this present struggle.
