She was born one month premature. At four days of age, she was stabbed and left for dead, bleeding in the trash. CNN headlines read, Miracle Baby Lives, next on this edition of It's Supernatural! centuries have come and gone, offering wisdom and understanding throughout the ages. Today, there should be nothing beyond one's power to discover. But yet, the strange, unusual and mysterious world of the supernatural defies understanding. Stay tuned for a unique and powerful investigation into a curious undiscovered universe only on It's Supernatural! Hello. I'm Sid Roth your investigative reporter. I'm here with Jonathan and Jeanne Hansen. And what would happen if you opened up a newspaper and you saw a little baby, and the voice of God says to you… That's your daughter. Was it audible? Was it just an impression? Many people would call it intuition, but it was the voice of God, the Spirit of God saying, that is your daughter. Sid, what did you read? What was in that article? I saw the picture of Melita in the front pages stating, miracle baby lives. What had happened to Melita? She had been found by a United Nations soldier, a Nigerian. In the trash on the streets of Mogadishu, he thought she was a dead corpse, just another body. He turned her over and she'd been cut through the throat. Her esophagus, nerves to her vocal cords cut. At close examination, he saw that she was still breathing. He was shocked. Took her to the Swedish Field Hospital in Mogadishu. Sid, when did you find out about what God had told your husband? Well I was still sleeping when he saw the news article. So when I woke up, he's an early riser, so when I woke up he presented this picture to me. But what he doesn't say is we've been wanting to adopt a child for many years. How many natural children did you have? I have three natural children. So when he said that to you, did you say, oh yeah? Yeah, I was very excited about it. The fact is the night before I had finished filling out papers to adopt a child from Where was it? Ethiopia at the time, and he was getting cold feet. And so I just prayed to the Lord, and I told him, I said, well Lord, it's up to you. If you want us to really adopt, then you're going to have to speak to him. And of course, I didn't realize that God was going to speak to him the very next morning, but there was that picture of Malita or Mimi then on the front page. You're white. She's black. You're from another country. It may not be so easy to adopt a little black child from which country was she from? Originally from Somalia, and we were in Kenya at the time. And she was taken into Kenya, into the Nairobi hospital there. So how did you adopt her? You just walked in and said, God told me to adopt her? No. We ended up filing for adoption. It became a high-profile court case. As soon as we filed, then we were sued by the Islamic community, saying a Christian cannot adopt a Muslim baby. They said that Somalia was a hundred percent Islamic. And it became a national case, U.S. versus Somalia. It became a religious case, Christianity versus Islam. And I was told and warned by all different peoples, politicians, religious people, missionaries, that you have no chance, Reverend Hansen, to adopt this baby. In fact, you need to leave the country because you're going to be killed. Why would you be killed? A Christian is considered an infidel. And when we were going to apply for adoption and did apply, then we started getting death threats. So did you back off? No, what we did is years ago I made a determination after five years of chastening that we were going to serve the Lord, I would serve the Lord, whatever would come, whatever threats. I do a much prayer and fasting, and we went into prayer and fasting. We went to the Lord because all around us gave us no hope. They said it's impossible, it's a religious case, it's a political case, and you'll never win this case. Also the Muslims were threatening to riot throughout Kenya to burn down churches, and we were getting a lot of pressure even from missionaries to drop the whole procedure. Well I guess it was fairly well known because the CNN article, the miracle baby. That's right. And why did they call her a miracle baby? Well once again, her esophagus was cut. She shouldn't have been able to breathe. And so that alone, since that time, wherever we go, medical personnel contact us, doctors and others, and want us to tell the story. It's like when we flew into Sweden this August of 2000, they did a news article, and the news reporters, medical people, medical people and army people from Somalia seven years earlier, couldn't believe that she was talking, couldn't believe she was breathing. because they said it was impossible. How did you adopt her then? We went ahead. We filed for adoption. We were counter-sued. We went into a two-month high-profile court case. The first day in court there was a Sikh who was a high court judge trying the case. Again, I used the word, the Lord spoke to me, to make a complaint against the high court judge. My lawyer was extremely upset with me. He said, Reverend Hanson, you don't have a chance to win this case, and in this country you don't make a complaint against our judge. I did it anyway. I submitted it in writing. I shared that the high court judge, I believe, was intimidated by Islamic threats. He was making statements and decisions against the constitution of Kenya. And the case was closed for a week as the Chief Justice was like our Supreme Court. He reviewed it, said, I agree with Reverend Hansen. Decisions have been made. I'm removing the High Court judge. I personally will hear this entire case. He said also, it will be held in camera. I will not allow a baby case to lead this nation into riots. And bottom line, what happened? Bottom line, two months later, the judge, against all odds, awarded her to us. He said to the Hansons, he said, I believe if I turn her back over to the Islamic community, I believe this baby will be killed. I'll be signing her death certificate. Genie, I've got to ask you something. You hold this little baby in your arms, impossible to get, but you get her. She has a tracheotomy. She's got all these problems which are staring you in the face. Did you really want her? Oh yeah, oh yeah. We fell in love with her. Our whole family fell in love with her, and yeah, we wanted her very much. It's pretty exciting so far, but the excitement is just going to begin. We'll talk about it when we get back. Don't go away. Then click the bell so you won't miss a single episode of It's Supernatural! Hello. I'm Sid Roth your investigative reporter, and I know you're on the edge of your seats. Imagine God speaking to you and telling you to adopt a little girl whose throat is slit, has to have a tracheotomy, is left in a trash heap, and the country she's from doesn't want someone that is a Christian to adopt because they're from an Islamic background. And a miracle happens. You adopt the baby. You love the baby. You're so happy. And then in Seattle, Washington, what was it, Jonathan, in 96, I believe? Jonathan M.: December of 96. Sid, what happened? Jonathan M.: We took her into the hospital. They wanted to try to take a piece of cartilage, remove it from her rib, try to repair the damage in the trachea. They went into a five-hour operation, and when she came out of that operation then really our nightmare had begun. She was in ICU for ten straight days. The doctor told us when she came out of it that different complications had happened. She was now in a coma. They couldn't bring her out. And that she might not even recognize that she might be suffering amnesia, at least temporarily. Sid, what was going on inside of you when all this was happening? Well when I first saw her, that was pretty scary after the surgery. How did she look? Well they had paralyzed her, so I mean, nothing moves, not even the eyelashes or anything moves. So it's like looking at someone that's already dead. And so that was pretty scary, but that's when my husband and I went into praying and fasting. Now Jonathan, you heard. Or you called your parents. Why did you call them to pray? When a person gets into a situation that they need a miracle, you need to get a hold of people that know how to pray, how to intercede. We call it spiritual warfare. They had lived in China. They had gone through many situations facing death. They had seen miracles. Tell me one miracle that happened to one of your family members in China. father's brother-in-law. Now this isn't a miracle as far as being raised from the dead, but he ended up being shot for the Lord because he wouldn't deny the Lord. He was a pastor. He would not deny the Lord. They had warned all of the Hansen family at that time, you must leave China or be arrested. Most missionaries left. They prayed and the Lord spoke to my grandfather at the time and said, no, we're staying with the people, we're staying with the church in China. Now miracles happened out of that whole two-year experience of incarceration. But he was shot. They came to rape my aunt. They lined her, lined him up against the wall. My father was next to my aunt. The soldiers were screaming, where is she? They moved in and out of the house, up and down the staircase, screaming and cursing, where is she? The whole time she was right next to my father. Sid, why didn't they see her? I believe that the Bible goes into areas of how the Lord and the angels of the Lord camped around about them that feared him. And the angels of the Lord right then had blinded their eyes, and they could not see my aunt standing right next to my father. Sidham, you know, that is real faith. Would you give your life up for God? Would you? I mean, that is someone that knows God. So obviously you wanted your parents to pray for Melita. Yes. So what happened next? They came. They started to intercede. My father had an immediate word saying, the baby will not suffer amnesia. She will know you. Again, that was a word from the Lord. The Holy Spirit immediately spoke into his heart, into his mind, and he spoke it to me. Now daily complications arose. They needed to remove a tube, a drainage tube from her throat. They couldn't do it because she developed a fever. Immediately, we went into prayer and fasting over that. As my father was praying with my mother at our house, and I had not told him that this had just occurred and that she faced pneumonia, then my wife and I had rebuked the fever. laid hands right in the hospital, and a nurse, in fact, walked in and said, why don't you lay hands on her. I told the nurse, we already have. The nurse said, we've been watching our faith through this whole experience. We went ahead and prayed for the, rebuking the fever. When I got home my parents said, We prayed for your daughter at this time." And now it was the same time my wife and I rebuked the fever. And what then my father shared was he had a vision, he saw a spirit of infirmity go, and immediately there was an air passage created. Now I hadn't told them that they needed an air passage. There was two problems why they couldn't remove the tube right then, try to take away the respirator. She was on a respirator, and that's because she had a fever and there was no air passage. And so he said, well when we prayed, I saw again a spirit infirmity, I rebuked it, and now there's an air passage. They'll be able to remove the tube. We went the next morning and the doctor said, we have examined her and there has been an air passage. It's just come out of nowhere. Sid, is this something that could have just happened or is this something supernatural? I know he knew. I know he prayed. I know he rebuked the spirit that was on her. But medically speaking, could it have just coincidentally happened? Medically speaking, the air passage, I don't have the answer for. I didn't talk to the doctors whether it could have happened or not, but they couldn't do it because it wasn't there. And… Sid, they couldn't do it because it wasn't there. Hold that thought, Jonathan. We'll be back right after this. Hello. Sid Roth your investigative reporter. Let's go into the control room and find out who our guest is next week. Janie, who's our guest? Sid, you'll be speaking to a man who knows the secret of why the United States has had major hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, stock market crashes. What do you mean he knows the secret? Well, every time the United States would have abortion rallies, or they would come against Israel to try to make Israel give up land, or Arafat would meet with the President, when these type of things would happen in the United States, and that's against the Bible, it's against God's Word, To the day there would be a major earthquake like Hurricane Hugo or Hurricane George. You're saying, Jeannie, that the exact day that the United States goes against what God says in the Bible, that judgment comes? This man has shown over a hundred, maybe a hundred and fifty cases of every time we do that, there's a major disaster. Sid, sounds exciting to me. Thank you, Janie. We're back here with the Hanson family, and we left you talking about you there in the middle of these procedures, little daughter Melita. She had her throat slashed and she had a tracheotomy, and now they're putting in a, they're trying to fix the damage that was done. And a breathing passage developed supernaturally. You knew ahead of time it would happen, and it did happen. What happened next? Again, they still hadn't been able to remove the respirator. Every time they tried, complications happened. They tried again now because this air passage was created. Also the fever had disappeared. Again, we rebuke the fever. When they tried this time to remove the respirator, she started to vomit. It went down her lungs, and now they were worried about her having brain and lung damage. as well as complications of possible pneumonia. Again, we started to pray. My parents prayed. My father saw two spirit of infirmities, one that appeared like a fox, one that looked like a bird. He said they left, and one represented again the pneumonia. He said that when She vomited and it went down her lungs. He said, she won't have pneumonia, and now she won't have brain and liver damage. She'll be perfect. Sid, did he know any of this, that it looked like she'd have pneumonia and things like that? Did he? No. Again, he wasn't brief, but this is what the Lord was showing him in his prayers, and he was in Kirkland and we were in Seattle. And so as we would confer, and I would debrief what happened that day. Before I could get to that, he would tell me what they saw in their time of prayer. And so as we prayed and he prayed, and we were in different locations much of the time, at times we were together praying. And I remember that one time when he saw these two spirits. But as he rebuked them and they left, he said, she'll be healed. She won't have brain, she won't have liver damage, and she won't have pneumonia. Again, she did not when they re-evaluated her again. As far as they could tell, now they were going to try to remove the respirator for the last time. At that time, they let us both in the room, which again, we considered extraordinary. Normally they don't allow parents in, but they had been watching faith and I believe God had given favor. As they tried to remove the respirator. and were working on it. They were failing. Her pressure, blood pressure, heart was reaching a critical stage. They were going to quit. And the Holy Spirit said, pray for her, lay your hands on her. And there were about eight surgeons working on her, doctors, medical people. And I said, they're going to throw me out if I do it. And again, the Holy Spirit said, pray for her, rebuke death. And I argued with God one more time, and then He said very clearly, if you don't, she will die. I squeezed in as they were working on her. I laid hands on her and rebuked the spirit of death. Immediately her vital signs started to return to normal. I did that three times in two hours. It returned to perfect levels. Sid, if you hadn't done that, what do you think? She would have died. You're sure? Yes. What do you think? I think probably she would have, yeah. Because we were acting in obedience, and you know. Jonathan, up to that point, had you ever heard with your ears your daughter speak? No. I was told she could never speak, never eat, and never breathe on her own. That was all the way back into Kenya. The damage that was done through the stab wound, they said they could never repair. They had tried nine operations prior to that time while she was in Kenya, and they said now she will never speak. Sid, how did you communicate with your daughter? When we brought her home from the hospital in Nairobi, I immediately got a book teaching sign language. And so for the next two and a half years, I taught myself and my little girls taught themselves, and we taught her sign language. She knew about 200 words in sign when she had her surgery. And after the surgery, you went into the hospital. It was late at night. What happened? About three days before we were able to bring her home, they moved her out of ICU. And in the middle of the night, the nurse went in to check her vital signs, and Melita was awake, and she said, Mama. And that's the very first time she's ever spoken, you know. And at first I didn't believe that I really heard her, you know. And then, so when the doctor came in the next morning, I told him. And she spoke my name. She said, Mama. And I don't think he really believed me. But while he was there she did it again. So there was proof there. The nurse had heard her and the doctor both had heard her. We've got to see Melita now. Melita, would you come on, please? Hi, Melita. You know, you are really a miracle child. God bless you. That's okay. God must really love you. How about your mommy and daddy? Do you love them? Yes. Would you give your daddy a big hug? How about your mommy? Give her a hug. How about your investigative reporter, Sid Roth? Would you give him a hug? Come on over. Oh, I'm so glad. What do you two feel when you see this miracle that I'm holding? I just feel very grateful that the Lord entrusted her in our care, and gave her to us to bring up and to teach. Melita, you're not only a miracle, but you're a miracle too. God loves you as much. as he loves everyone here. He is love, and he had you watch this television show right now because he loves you. And if you will repent of your sins, tell God you're sorry, believe the blood of Jesus washes your sins away, and say with your mouth, Jesus, I make you my Messiah and Lord. I believe a miracle is going to happen in your life, healing Freedom from fear, restoration of your marriage, peace. Oh peace like a river. I mean, it's just going to radiate through you. Begin to tell him how much you love him. He loves you. He really does. You're special. It's a beautiful day.
