They Heard Him Gladly

If what we believe about Jesus doesn't lead us to submit to his lordship, then what we believe about him is wrong, no matter how theologically correct it is. If our Christology doesn't bring us into submission to Christ's reign over our lives so that our driving focus in all things is obedience to him, then our Christology is errant, our doctrine is deficient, and it is insufficient to save. You see friends, you can believe the right things about Jesus and still not know Jesus. He can be standing in front of your face through his word and you miss him altogether because he is not the Messiah, not the Christ, not the Savior you expect, or more accurately, he's not the Savior you want.
