The Glory and Grace of Christ

The first sermon in a series ought to serve to show how a particular book fits into the larger narrative of God's redeeming work among His people, what is to be believed concerning the Messiah and how we are to receive and be changed by God's gracious truth. Hebrews is a big book, bigger than its thirteen chapters, though thirteen is a lot for an epistle. What makes Hebrews such a big book is its content with regards to the glory of doctrine contained. Within the letter we find the supremacy of Christ clearly expressed, the offices of Christ outlined, the means by which He is to be embraced and how faith in the Messiah ought to change our lives. In the coming weeks we will learn who Christ is, more deeply and in response seek to walk more faithfully.
