God Has Spoken to Us by His Son

72

"Do you have a conviction of the preciousness of Christ?" This was the question asked us in today's sermon, the first in a series on the Excellencies of Christ from Hebrews 1. The book of Hebrews opens uniquely and majestically: "God." God has spoken unto His people, by His Son. Has God spoken unto you by His Son? In 2 Corinthians 4:6, Christ is said to be "in the bosom of the Faither." What does this mean? It implies a oneness of nature, an equality of person, infinite dearness (isn't that wonderful?), and fullness of knowledge and knowledge of all secrets. As the greatest commandment involves love of God, the greatest curse involves not loving Christ: Anathema. If Christ is precious to us, He will be the priority of our lives, and we will show our love to Him by our actions.
