When A Walk Changes It All
When our ideas of Jesus don't line up with God's presence, purpose, and priority within Him.
These disciples learned more in a few miles than they had in three years.
They learned more in a few miles of walking in their disappointment and despair with Jesus than they had in three years of being distracted by their own ideas of what they wanted Him to be.
True rest for our soul and peace that goes beyond our understanding is found in being rightly yoked and abiding with Jesus.
"What's the difference between being down and dull and being delighted and dangerous? A conversation with the resurrected Lord Jesus." ~ the disciples on the road to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).
All wrestling and unbelief rest on the premise that our idea of the Lord is better than God's and His way. Our wrestling is with ourselves and the preconceived ideas and misunderstandings of who God is, what God does, and how He does it. Unbelief breaks down to factoring in that our ideas and ways are more faithful, trustworthy, promising, beneficial, profitable, wiser, and reliable than God and His light. It's bold audacity and a perversion of pride to think He should see it as we do. You see, wanting or even demanding His trust and conformity to see it as we do, that He trusts us, our thinking, more than humbly yielding and giving Him our undivided attention, adoration, and affection is not faith but mere unbelief and pride. This only can lead to false experiences and expectations.
False expectations only set us up for a downcast and depressed spirit.
