Girded with Truth

23

Early in my ministry, I learned the power of planting ideas for change in people's minds, and then watching them germinate and become their ideas, not mine. Our adversary also knows the power of a germinated idea, a carefully placed lie that takes root and brings forth its fruit. He did so with Eve in the garden of Eden, and does so today. That's why we need to be girded with truth. But what is truth? Is there such a thing as 'Relative Truth'? What does it mean to 'gird our minds with the truth?' Why is this piece of armor so important? Our adversary is a master liar who seeks to distort our view of reality so that we live a lie, and our view of theology so that we believe a lie. That's why it is important for us prepare our minds with the truth, saturating them with God's Word, evaluating every thought against the standard of Christ and His Word, and then consciously and constantly think the truth. Someone once said, 'Sow a word, reap an action; Sow an action, reap a character; Sow a character, reap a destiny'--and it all begins with a thought planted in our minds that germinates and produces a harvest.
