How To Be A Saint

"The Bible tells of how we who were DEAD in sin can be made truly ALIVE… Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.

The word saint means "holy one". 1 Peter 1:15-16
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; (16) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Holiness is possible. We can be a saint. A holy one. The word HOLY appears over 600 times in the Holy Bible.

How can we be holy on this side of Heaven?

Holiness is being SEPARATED...
BY God
FOR God
FROM Sin - a clear-cut separation from evil
UNTO a Holy Life.

Holiness is being Set Apart - consecrated for God's purposes. Holiness is Christlikeness. Being... Like God - and Unlike the World. "Ha-gheos" - literally: ""not-earthly"".

Don't let the world's desires and ways attract you. All of its tinsel and toys.
1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world...

This world is all going up in smoke. Our allegiance is to another world –another King. It is His will that we want. By God's grace we CAN live a clean life in a dirty world.

Holiness is pictured as... a…
CLEANSING

2 Corinthians 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

For believers there's an inward cleansing. There is a perfecting – a growing in holiness… step by step.

God does this work in His people: Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

The Lord wants to cleanse our way, our will, our words, and our thoughts.
His Word works that cleansing.
