Romans 8:28-39

Introduction - What is in control of life?

• Chance, nature,
• What we think is in control affects the way we live

1. Things people trust in
   a) An ultimate being of love

   • being of love, but not in control
   • means a world of chaos
     b) Ultimate force is determining destiny
   • not in control
   • none of your decisions have meaning
     c) It is all about me - I can choose my own destiny
   • Everyone is working for themselves
     d) "She'll be right"
   • "Don't worry, be happy"
   • Doesn't work when we know and see bad things happening

2. God's way
   a) "All things work together for good ...for those who love God"
   b) Why doesn't this mean everything goes right for Christians? Is God a liar?

   • Doesn't mean there won't be problems and difficulties
   • God's "good" is so much better
     c) God's version of good
     i. "Conformed to the image of His Son"
     ii. Knowing God's deep, intimate love allows you to deal with the hardship
     iii. The glories of heaven

Conclusion
