That's going to limit my gymnastics,
but you know, hey, it is what it is. All right, so no other
gods, no other gods, no Buddhas, no Virgin Marys, no graven images
intended to stress no idols to other gods. But we need to understand
that that doesn't mean necessarily we can't make idols to God because
if you remember he did commission David Solomon to decorate that
tabernacle with angels all over the wall and eat and looking
and all of that and even the Ark of the Covenant has angels
on top with their wings stretched out. Those are images that are
depicting heavenly beings. So what we don't do is make images
to Krishna and Buddha and all kind of Beyonce and all that
kind of sort of stuff, okay? So yeah, that's not the intention. No graven images. So honor the Lord's name. Don't
throw his name around in the OMGs. Oh my, you know, it makes
it too cavalier, too trivial. It trivializes the holiness and
importance of his name, right? So we kind of want to keep these
things, regard these things. I'm going to explain that the
Ten Commandments were given to us for us, that they're going
to help us. And yeah. And so then, keeping
the Sabbath. Now, not a commandment for us
today. Christ is our daily rest. But if you want to practice church
on Saturday or rest on Saturday, that's perfectly fine. It's not
the door to salvation. OK? So yeah. So he said, keep
the Sabbath. He says, honor your parents.
That's a no-brainer. Because if you don't and you're
growing up, they're going to knock you out. When you get older,
if you want to live long, honor your parents that fed you and
diapered you and everything, right? Turn around and feed them
and diaper them if that's where it comes to, okay? Honor the
people that kept you and kept you like pit bulls, right? You honor them. And then no murder. You don't take life outside of
capital punishment. That was established by God.
That means that if you're convicted for murder, then you could be
put to death or something. But I can't just go kill somebody
today, especially while I'm cheating, which is the next thing, no adultery.
Okay. I can't kill somebody because
even because he's sleeping with my wife. right? It has to go
through the judicial process, right? Okay, so here is, you
know, so what I'm saying is, is that we can't murder. We are not to commit adultery.
That adultery thing is an image of our relationship with God.
He's saying you and your wife are one. we are supposed to be
one with him, right? Bless the Lord. Yeah. And so
we're, look, when we break that in our relationship with our
wife, we're definitely breaking it at the same time with him,
right? Okay. So, and then he says, no
stealing. It's an insult to God and an
offense to the person that you're ripping off. No lying or bearing
false witness. That's the devil's persuasive
tactics Diablo means Slanderer and he was a liar from the beginning
as Jesus said the truth isn't in him. We don't want to go around
lying. I Play a lot and I you know,
I might say like I said today I did just captain said something
to Sheila in front of Linda. I'm not gonna say what it was
It was a lie But it was, my intentions weren't to get away with lying,
right? It was to pull a joke out, you
know, you know, get a joke going. And so, and they know who I am.
They're like sisters to me. And well, they were until that
joke. So now, and then no coveting. Doing so indicates we're not
happy with what we were given by God. Okay, so we're not going
to covet. I'm not just going to be like
Ahab wanting the field and then Jezebel killing the guy, right? I'm not going to be that way.
We can't covet. It doesn't make sense because
we have everything that God wants us to have and he's explained
that to us. through various statements and parables, okay? So sufficient
for the day is a provision made thereof. He's using a parable
of the talents to show us that you can do with what I've given
you to its fullest. Okay, so this is how it goes.
I don't need your Mercedes, you know, and I can't sit there just
wondering how to get it, you know, or to get one to top yours. You know what I'm saying? It's
not, it's not, yeah. So now, Moses here in Deuteronomy
is explaining to the people the events that occurred during his
and their encounter with God at that time as Recorded in Exodus
during the dictate of the Ten Commandments. So you remember
the people were all Scared they didn't want to come to the mountain
all the fire and the smoke and everything is going on and And
I had that scripture so that you guys could have it too but
But anyway, we're in Deuteronomy. It's in Exodus. So we're in Deuteronomy,
and I'm about to give you some scriptures. But when the law
was given, the people were terrified by the manifestations of God's
divine presence, and they feared for their lives, reminded of
that episode that they sent Moses to speak to the Lord and assure
him that they wouldn't do whatever he said. So in other words, they
were there when the Ten Commandments were issued. They remember they
didn't want to be in the presence of God. Something told them,
like it tells us, they were not fit to be in his presence. Okay,
if we were... This is why you're falling down
all the time in visions when you're in heaven. You're collapsing.
You can't stand in front of a holy God. He's holy and you're not. And if you thought you were,
when you're in his face, you find out that you aren't. Okay. You find out woe is me. Okay. Just woe, woe. You can't even
think of a more intelligent word except for woe. You know, just
dumb words would come out as you're perishing. Okay, this
is the truth. No, I'm not not So I'm using
that analogy, but we can't just go willy-nilly into the presence
of God He has to make a way for us to come in so the people are
showing a little bit more intelligence now that even after the Ten Commandments
They've gone off sinning Even after he gave the commandments
out, they're going out sinning. And now while he's reminding
them or getting further instruction from God, they're saying they'll
never sin again. They're going to stop. They don't
want to be confronted with that same God that they remember. So this is what's going on here.
I should have read the scriptures first, right? So in Deuteronomy
5.25 through 26, the people stated, but now, Why should we risk death again?
If the Lord our God speaks to us again, we will certainly die
and be consumed by this awesome fire. And 520, that was 525. In 526, they said, can any living
thing hear the voice of the living God from the heart of the fire
as we did and yet survive? Go yourself, Moses. You go. and listen to what the Lord our
God says. Then come and tell us everything he tells you, and
we will listen and obey." OK, so then Deuteronomy 5, 28 through
29 says the following. Moses told the people, the Lord
heard the request you made of me, and he said the following. So he heard them. We don't want
to go. You go, right? You go for us. You go, Pastor
Jamie. I'm not going, right? Yeah, he
heard this, right? And then he tells Moses, tell
these people this, I have heard what the people said to you and
they are right. They would, what does he mean? They burn up. Okay, don't come
approaching the mountain. I gave you 10 commandments. You
still sinning, right? You haven't gotten any better.
You've gotten worse, right? So you think that now is a good
time to approach me, right? Okay, so think about it now,
right? Okay, and then he says, oh, that
they would always have hearts like this, that they may fear
me and obey my commands. Okay, they're afraid and he knows
it and likes it, right? Okay, he likes that they're fearful
of him. That's like a regard for me,
not a disregard for me. So it's healthy to fear the Lord.
Okay. Bless the Lord. He even said
it. It's not like, look, let me come
make put fear in you. I am who I am. Okay. You'll fear me whether you decided
to or not. Is this right? Because as you're
in my presence, there's going to be a fear. It's going to come
over you because you don't know how I'm really rating you. And
to be honest with you, it's my being doing what my being does. Because while I love you, I have
a wrath too. Okay, it's part of my being.
It's my makeup. Bless the Lord. Bless the Lord.
So then God says, if they did, he says that they might fear
me and obey my commandments. Then he says, if they did, they
and their descendants would prosper forever. forever, okay? He must be looking beyond this
earth, right? He must be, because forever,
every one of us is gonna die unless we're raptured, right?
So he's looking beyond this place. And their descendants, we'd be
passing down, right, to our descendants, the truth of who God is, and
his nature, And that's a good thing to understand. There's
going to come knowledge and knowledge is going to give us the wisdom
of God is going to give us the knowledge we need. And we're
going to understand and my child's going to understand and his child's
going to understand right on down the line. This is what God
is saying. You guys can establish this now. You can do it today. Live for
me. Live with regard to me. Regard
me. Right? Bless the Lord. So this
is the hope that the Lord has. He wants us to obey him. I'm
not relieving us of his 10 commandments and all the commandments. We
will be exactly what he wants. In other words, Jesus fulfilled
the law, right? Because we couldn't. And so you've
heard this over and over again. We couldn't keep those 10 commandments,
yet all the rest of the laws, we couldn't even keep them if
we were doing it outwardly. Our minds are bent. Sin is like
a disease that we're all running around with. Okay, it's in there. It's like if you were into a
diet and concerned about food and you heard about the genetically
modified food or whatever, right? So you're thinking that they
just put this in your plate when you came to the restaurant. You'd
be wrong because now it's in the food. It's in the food. It's in the vegetation. It's in the meat. It's in there. It's not sprinkled on just before
you eat. In other words, we're like that.
It's in there. We got this poison inside of
us. I'm sorry. I know Barbara thinks
she's poison free, but it's in her too. Some more than others,
you know, so We have this problem Okay, I don't care what you think,
you know about the Bible what you think you might think Oh
David, you know, who cares? You're a sinner. I'm a sinner
now. We're not practicing sin Like
we used to because we're believers. I We're concerned about our actions,
right? But we still have and will have
this sin problem to deal with until he returns. Bless the Lord. Bless the Lord. Okay. So they
didn't realize the people, God saying, you know, they're right.
I burn them up. They'll burn up. You know? And,
oh, if they would just do or could do what it is that they're
saying, right? And so they didn't realize their
own sinfulness and the powerlessness when they made such a rash vow.
When we say we won't or make a vow to never sin again, we
should think, again, we're bent people. The genetically modified
content is in there. Genesis Genesis 6 5 says the
Lord saw that the wickedness of man Was great in the earth
and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only
evil Continually, right? Okay, so you think oh that was
just that was the Noah people though, you know The anti-deluvians
before the flood that you know, you know that and he fixed them.
He wiped them out. We're good now. I That's funny
that Noah went and got drunk right after all of that. That's
how good we are, okay? And then cursed Tam and then
all the people start going crazy all over the place and building
a monument to themselves that they can not only show their
ability, but it's going to be so high to the heaven we'll escape
any other flood. This was their plan in case God
were to flood the earth. So God's a liar because that
rainbow is not sufficient. We need to make ourselves a monument
that we can climb up to the heavens so that we don't get flooded.
They still bent, then had the best washing you've ever The
best washing this thing 40 days and 40 nights of rain and water
It comes up out of the ground comes down from the heaven covers
everything. You didn't been washed and everything
and you come out drunk Drinking and carrying on and then you
know, there's no shame for the sun. Look we know the story,
right? Okay. So what it is is that god
is showing us. Jesus is saying as it was in
the days of noah So shall it be when the Son of Man comes,
right? The same stuff, the same stuff. We need to look at that. If we
thought that, oh, they're so ancient in Noah's day, they were
just, you know, I'm believing this, that we have this regard
for the folks in Noah's day, like they're just in sandals
and togas and just walking around, you know, right? But he built
an ark and it took hundreds of years to build the ark. Okay? Now, correct me if I'm wrong
about that, but it took some time to build the ark. I'm saying
technology existed then. I'm saying it for a lot of reasons.
When you start at the finds, the archaeological finds that
they find in Egypt, in the pyramids and all of this stuff, we need
to wake up and think, what's been done before will be done
again. Okay? There's nothing new under
the sun. Bless the Lord. Bless the Lord. So look, when Jesus is saying
that it would be as it was in those days, right? We need to
look at it from that vantage point. It's not just that they
were crazy. We're crazy. It's not that we
were just intelligent with our technology. They were too. Okay. So this is what's going on. Okay. And so what the Lord is trying
to show us is that the same help they need, you need. They got
their washing with water. You'll get yours with fire. Okay. Fire is what he's going to use
this time. Okay. So look, I'm going to,
I'm going to spare us some singeing and some burning because everything
that's not like him will be burned up. tried by fire, okay? So that means even, you know,
if I commended Beverly for her Mercedes, but in my heart I've
been trying to get one or get hers or something of that nature,
okay? That's not coming in. In other
words, you can't bring that hidden secret into my house, okay? When the Lord looked at Lucifer,
In Ezekiel, or was it Isaiah? He said, listen, you were righteous
in all your ways until unrighteousness was found in you. So yeah, I'm
just standing here right now, and then this guy just says,
I see unrighteousness in you. You're unrighteous, David. There's
some unrighteousness in you. What happens when you're unrighteous?
Am I righteous with unrighteousness? No, I'm unrighteous. Okay, it's
like the same sin that's in us. Okay, it makes us, it defines
us because it's in us. So God is not going to take us
or let us come into his house unrighteous. We needed a substitute,
a mediator. We needed the Lord, right? Bless
the Lord. This is how we get to enter in.
I mean, look, we've heard it before. Let's hear it again.
We can't do it. It's good to say, we'll never
sin again. But what would be better is to
say, Lord, please help us stop sinning. Please help us. Help me do the right thing today. Even while I'm thinking the right
thing, something's pulling me to the left. You know, I just
want to go left. I'm going to go left for a minute,
Lord. I'll be back and do right. OK, this is it. You think about
it. It's getting crazy. We're getting
crazier. Okay, if somebody's going to
cling to the Lord, it has to be us. It has to be the people
of God. Otherwise, we just run around
in name only. That's it. There's more important
things going on than me and my cool pants. It's more important
things going on that we should be in tune to. then just these
trivial matters. And then in trivialness and the
things that are most concerning to us, our livelihood and, you
know, our fame and our, you know, our positions and all of this
kinds of sorts of stuff. God is saying forever. He wants
to fix us for forever. Everything here is going down
the drain. Listen, Paul Shepard died. Did
you guys know that? Yeah, Paul Shepard. And I really
liked that guy. Good preacher, and I'm friends
with him. And you set us up to use the meeting rooms, remember? And I'm not going to say, yeah,
but I'm friends with him. But listen, one minute, it was
all of a sudden. It wasn't even, who knew? It was one of those kind of things
where I'm standing here preaching, and I fall out, and you guys
call paramedics, right? I'm not saying that's what happened
to him. I'm saying it was not expected. It was unexpected,
right? So look, we're faced with people
we know that have died. Then we're hearing about people
we don't know that have died. And we've heard about people
on YouTube that we heard about and saw in the movies. They're
died. There's shows on the YouTube right now. They go, who died
this year? And who died this month? And
look, look at the people that died this week, right? And you
can't help but look. And you're looking at all these
deaths and you're wondering what kind of life did this person,
did they believe before they left here? They're not telling
that part. They're not telling it. It's
not Christians. They're Christian shows, but they're shows to get
you sorrowful for the moment until the next moment will keep
you locked in. Well, listen, I don't need your show to know
I'm going to die and everybody around me is dying. When significant
people die, you know death is real. You don't have access to
that person anymore. Why build a house here on clay,
on dirt and rubble? The world is going to hell in
a handbasket. We want to think about our future,
where we're going to live forever, set ourselves up for the future.
I mean, this has been my moment, my message for forever. I don't,
I think I'm not afraid to die. I don't want to have some kind
of probing and crazy, sinful doctors and nurses poking at
me and stuff, you know, and I'm all tied up with tubes and things
like that. I would rather not that. But
as far as leaving, I don't mind. I believe where I'm going. I
believe there's a place for me. I believe it. I'm not just saying
it. So I'm doing stuff that looks
stupid to the world, right? And I'm gonna look dingy, right? But I'm sorry. When I thought
I was looking cool, I was doing nothing but sinning. I was helping
the world degrade. Okay? So bless the Lord. So now
that I've gone on that tangent, let me get back to this real
quick and wrap this up. Y'all needed to hear all of that. So sin has us bent on going against
the grain. We easily justify a wrong choice
without even giving it a fair consideration. Sometimes it's
like I don't even want to think about the right thing to do.
Let me just go on, you know, it'll work out. Let me do it
my way, right? So what we have here is at other
times we don't even think about how we operate. We operate sometimes
on impulse. Some are going to insist that
they always pray and ask, but God says he wishes they would
always have hearts like this, okay? This is what they're saying. I fear the Lord. We need to fear
the Lord. Fear is our friend. Okay. In this case, this is really
fear. The fear of God is our friend.
If I'm telling you, I'm going to skip this. If you have your
kid, if you're in school, Pastor Jamie told that story that time
about the Chinese people at school that they capped on him because
Tremaine came down there and whooped him all over the school.
Remember? Okay. Look, now he has a healthy
fear. You get it? Because now you know
what can happen to you. Right? That was a funny story. Write me. I'll send you to archives. It was funny. But it's the same
for all of us. Look, your kids need to know
that if they call mama, I'm going to be in trouble. So I'm not
going to do what I'm about to do. And so that I don't do what
I'm about to do to offend mom, I'm going to need some help.
I'm not just going to say, I'm not going to do it. I'm going
to pray and ask, please help me. If it's nothing else, tell
mother, you know, I know what you don't want me to do, but
I need your help. Won't she help you? Would God
help us? Okay, we're back there again. We can ask the Lord. He's dying
to hear from us in that regard rather than lying to ourselves
and to others. I'm not going to do it again.
We must undervalue or not even we take for granted this sin
thing that we're dealing with. It keeps on luring us away from
God. It's a constant pull. It's constant. Anyone in here saying that, no,
no, I got it. And people online are probably
saying, oh no, this, this don't, it don't take all that. If it's
working for you, I hope to be there on the day that yours,
your stuff, whatever's left that you thought was working is burning
up. Okay. I really do believe we won't
be able to take what we're believing as righteousness into the presence
of God when it's really unrighteousness. Bless the Lord. Bless God. God is who he is. We're warned
not to go out and compromise. Joyful are those who do not compromise
with evil and they walk only in his path. That's in Psalms
119.3. God is who he is. If we look at who we are today,
we'll understand that we can't just come to God in any kind
of way. He has invited us in, but through a door. Today, we
have a door we can enter. That door is Jesus. That's the
door to life, right? I personally can't be responsible
for what happens to you if you come in my house through another,
by another, through some other means. Because I set up my house
with surveillance everywhere and I got machine guns all set
up that if that window opens, papow, papow, papow. Right? I said, come through the front
door. That's how you get in. You're not coming in any other
way. It's, you know, as you can see,
that's just me. Okay? And what I'm saying now
is that this is just God. It's like this is my being, it's
my makeup. If I let you in my house and
I promise Akonke and Donny, Danny and everybody else, there'll
be no more death in here. But I let you in with your sinning.
I'm gonna be a liar because you're bringing death in the door or
in the house, right? But if you come in through the
door that I've established, you'll come in clean because you're
coming in his name. You're coming in the name of
my son. That makes sense. Bless God. I mean, really, we're welcomed
in, but you won't change my being. You will not change my attitude
toward things. I'm not even able to change me.
I am who I am. Bless the Lord. This is the Lord,
okay? This is who He is. He didn't
just get here and then adapt it. He's been here forever lasting. He's forever and ever eternal. He didn't just come in and now
He's grooming or being groomed to be a good person and I'm learning
to be more kind and I won't be so harsh on you this time or,
you know, I'll show more love or whatever. He's complete. Everything is perfect in God
Okay, he's completely perfect the way he is He can't change
he has to burn you up. He's a look the water if you
look if God was water and then you wanted to get in the water,
but the water is all turbulent and there's waves and everything's
just going all to and fro you're gonna drown and But if you are
water in the image that water is made in the image, you won't
have a problem. OK? That's right. You're going
to do what water does. We were made in his image, yet
we're operating outside of his image. We're not going to make
it through the turbulence. Bless the Lord. Bless God. With the wind. OK? I was sitting
there in the car thinking this. With the wind. Be wind. OK? With the wind, be wind. Then
when the wind blows and everything, you won't get blown away. And
with fire, be fire. You're made in the image of the
all-consuming God. Fire does not put out fire. You'll
survive in the fire. He's an all-consuming fire. Listen,
we deserve nothing. But he's giving us everything.
And all he's saying is, ask me. I'll walk you through. I'll make
you the person that I want you to be. I'll give you everything
I promise. And my kingdom will not be toppled,
and you'll be in it. Bless God. Forever and ever and
ever. Bless the Lord. So I'm going
to stop, because I'm just now getting fired up. about to fall down. Anyway, so
I'm going to stop, but I think I made my point. Did I make my
point? You need more points? No. Oh,
well, excuse me. So anyway, so let's pray and
then we can move on. So Father, we just bless you
Lord.
