to study the Gospel of Luke from the original Greek language that it was written in. By the way, all the writers wrote their Gospels in Greek in the New Testament letters. John wrote probably the most perfect simple Greek in the Gospel according to John. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John, but in the book of Revelation he writes it in such a Hebraistic way. John used Hebraisms. And even in the Gospel of John, the word Logos there is not Logos like in the Greek idea of the Creator. Logos there is the equivalent to Hathabar, the word of the Old Testament, which is literally the equivalent to Jehovah himself, the name of God. Now, some of the most perfect Greek, classical Greek is the book of Hebrews and Luke's writings, and we're studying Luke's writings right now. We will study, if the Lord gives me life, after this we're going to study the book of Matthew, Kadomathion, and after that we're going to do the book of Acts, if I make it that long. That's my goal. today or this year my goal is to preach 365 messages and I only got a few more to go about 30 more to go before the end of this month and I'm going to try to do that we'll do two messages tomorrow maybe more. Now we've heard from the Pharisees We've heard from the Sadducees and now we hear from the scribes. Wicked men with wicked ways and just coming up out of the bushes. Wicked men are just coming up out of the bushes, coming up out of the ground all around Jesus. And having answered some of the scribes, the Gromitaeon, the scribes, they said, teacher didoskele, that's vocative singular masculine by the way, in the case of address. Master, teacher, good, you speak. Good teacher, kalos. It should have been the word, not kalos, but agathos. That means spiritually good. This is just good. Jesus was the greatest master, teacher. He was the greatest. Verse number 40. For no longer they kept on daring to interrogate him not one thing. They were afraid to say anything. When they asked Jesus questions, it got them deeper in trouble with God. Deeper in trouble with God, all the time. Now, I remember Brother Madden came and preached for me a long time ago, and you might hear him say this on one of the messages that I have of him out there. He was a great big man, big Cajun, had a real deep voice. And he was liable to say anything in that pulpit. No telling what. He got up there, and the house was just full of people. They'd come from all over the church that I was pastoring, the Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Same one that I'm pastoring today, by the way. He got up there, and his old demon was like that. He said, now, if there's one in here that is lost. And you have set your mind to hate God and not accept Him as your Savior. It would be real good if you just got up and left right now. Because after you hear this message, you're going to be twice the son of hell that you are before, and you will have a greater judgment. So I'm going to give you time to just get up and leave right now. He said that. He meant it, too. Because he did preach the gospel. I preach the gospel. I preach it every time I get a chance. And here it comes, people. And he said toward them, how you say the Christ, ton Christon, to be of David, his son of David. How do you say that? verse number 2042 that is 2042 I'll toss guard of the legay in bed below Salman a pain could be yours to could you move kai through ek Dixie own move the name Jehovah written 4,700 times in the Old Testament 4,700 times in the Old Testament the name Jehovah in the New Testament and John 1 and 1 John says in RK ain't no logos kai holo go saying pro stone the on kai holo go saying feels and that's John 1 and 1 John 1 14 says kai holo go sarks again at all that's the beginning of that verse What I just said, in beginning, kept on being the word, or the Jehovah. That's what it's talking about. That's a Hebraism, it's not a Greek idea. In beginning kept on being the Jehovah, and the Jehovah kept on being an inseparable part of the Godhead. Because the Jehovah kept on being God. John 1 14 says Kyho Logos Sarks again until and the word the Jehovah flesh he became and dwelt among us and we held the glory we beheld the glory of the only begotten one of the father full of grace and full of truth John 1 18 says no man has seen God at any time the only begotten God the one being in the bosom of the father that one he has led himself out that's what we're talking about right here tonight Psalm 110 verse 1 The unanswerable question. The unanswerable question. For David himself, he says in the scroll, in the book of Psalms, he said, the Lord to the Lord. The Lord said to the Lord of me, you set out of the right side of me. They used to give away mink stoles on some of these shows on television. In stoles, robes, loving, liking, greetings, they made a When they would meet another one of their kind out in the marketplace, they would show great gracious words. Oh, you wonderful man. Oh, what a wonderful person you are. I see your wonderful children walking the wonderful streets. And I see your wonderful wives obeying your wonderful ways. And they'd say this. And how is this one? How is that one? Long, drawn out, complimentary, extravagant greetings and bragging on each other in the streets. the greetings in the marketplaces. And the chief seats, they wanted to be judges and chief justices, a place of honor and a place of power. And boy, do we have it in Kern County, don't we, down there in 1415 Truxton Avenue and thereabouts. We have a bunch of these Pharisees, scribes and hypocrites and Sadducees down there. And in the synagogues, in the places of honor, in the dinners. these banquets these date knows date noise and the great banquets 20 and 47 the one was no let me go back and read it in Greek first I was translating in my head the whole a cot a see you soon toss or a kiosk tone Karon Kai pro face a mock rock pros you can't a who told The ones they devour, the houses of the widows, and in pretense, long prayers they pray to themselves, not to God. These ones they shall receive severe judgment. harsh judgment, condemnation. Now, what does he mean here that they devour widows' houses? How would they devour widows' houses? Well, the Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the scribes, they would make a pretense and say, Corbyn, everything I own is the Lord's, and so, therefore, I can't do anything to help my mother or my father or any of the family. Remember, there was no welfare back then. There's no Social Security or anything. And these people would let their mothers die, and their fathers die. They would get their inheritance, and then they would ship the old folks off. Just let them die. No care. Devouring widows' houses. A widow was left behind, and the big boy, the first son of the family, he would get the whole, the woman had no rights. And the son would get all of the estate of the father, everything that his father worked for all of his life. I knew a woman a long time ago, that her father cashed in everything that he owned in this world. His insurance policies, he was dying. All of his home, everything that he had gotten, he took it and shipped it into cash, $100 bills, a whole shoebox full of $100 bills. There was no record of this at all. Then he shipped her another one, another little box. I saw that. She was supposed to share that with her brother. He never got 10 cents on it. There's no record of it. No record. Shysters. Make sure that you can trust the people you trust with whatever you have with your life. Maryland's cousin had conservators over him. He had a lot of money, didn't he? Had a lot of money. And his money was going down for his health care and everything, and finally they decided to just cut him off because the money was gone. Put him on the hospice, put him in the hospital. He was doing fine, really. He had diabetes, so he had to go have his blood filtered every week and dialysis. But that was all fine, sharp, everything. But they got power over him. And they put him down just like a dog. Put him down like a dog. These people were that kind of folk. These people would take their very mothers, Pontius Pilate in his letter to Tiberius Caesar, these people would sell their own mothers out for an advantage. And they did. The widows. The widows. In pretense. Long prayers they play, but they devour. the widow's homes. They'll take their mothers, take everything away, and then say, it's Corbin. It's all dedicated to the Lord now, so I can't help you. I can't give you any money. I can't help you. Just go wherever you want to go with the lepers or whatever. That's it. Heartless people. Heartless. Wicked people in high places, wicked people in low places, wicked ones with wicked ways. Wicked men with wicked ways, wicked women with wicked ways. And they devour homes of widows. And in pretense, in smiley faces, they make long prayers to themselves because they aren't getting to God. They shall receive severe judgment. They shall receive severe judgment. Wickedness in action. Wickedness in action. Remember that, Marilyn. Wickedness in action. That's what it was. Wickedness in action. We have this all over the world today. We have it everywhere. On the streets of Bakersfield. In the streets of Bakersfield, one time, well, this year, The first 60 days of this year, there were 60 murderers down on the streets of Bakersfield by the gangsters. Wicked men, and they have wicked ways. And you know what? What do they do about it? Go arrest them, if they can find them. Put them in prison that's like a rest home or what we might call somewhat of a A retreat. Full medical help. All, everything. Full medical care. All our families are on welfare. If they even get caught. And we wouldn't want to harm them in any way in those prisons. No way. Wicked men, wicked ways. We see this. In the 21st chapter, we're going to see a poor widow. A widow, like he was talking about. A widow. The widow's offered. And having lucked up, he saw the wands casting into the trumpet-like offering plate. And in the temple, there was like a tuba horn. And they made this for this purpose. A great big tuba horn that went down and rolled down into an offering plate, so to speak, at the bottom of it. People would come into the temple area and they would put their money. The Pharisees and the scribes and the Sadducees and the priests and the Levites, whatever was there. They would go up there and they'd take these great big coins and they'd throw them in there one at a time and you could hear them clank, clank, clank, clank, clank all the way down. Clank, clank, clank, clank. Look how proud, look how much I've given. Look how much I'm giving. The reason for that thing doing like it was, was to make all that racket. So they could see how much they were giving. Lots of money, heavy money. Big wages. Now, all these peoples are casting into the treasury, the temple treasury, the gifts of them, the ones rich, pluciois, the ones that have more than enough. more than enough 21 verse 2 now and he saw a certain widow a poor beggarly widow a woman in need penance that's what it comes from Day to day, a street person today, no lodging, no earthly possessions, laboring meagerly for their daily food to keep them above starvation. Bellies are hungry, but they're still alive, barely alive. Now this coin, this lepta, casting at Ekei Lepta Dio. This is the smallest denomination. It takes two of these to make one cent in Israel today. One cent. She cast two of the smallest denominations in this horn type affair. Verse number three, Kai Epein Elei Thos. Didn't he go to mathematics school? Didn't he get his three R's? Reading, writing, and arithmetic? Why, that woman didn't give more than all those rich cats. But now he says something in verse number four. Pontes garhutoi ectu parisuontels. Altois ect malon esta dora altai. day act to he said remodels out a sponsor told me on home okay at bowling for all of those out of the access the overflowing access to them they cast into the gifts into this offering plate but she out of the dire necessity and want of daily ration and food belonging to her all, tol'n and beyond. We study biology in school, don't we? Biology is the study of life. This word here means the very life of her. She cast her very life, which she kept on having, she threw it in. The very few morsels of food which she had to keep herself alive this day, she put in the offering plate. This woman went without food to put her offering in that plate. This woman would not eat that day. I want to thank you people out there, wherever you are, Nancy, Cowan Brothers, all of you all over the world have helped with discovertheworld.com. We are in need of offerings and you've helped. You've helped keep it up. And maybe some of those out there that are more wealthy give through the access. I thank all of you everywhere in New Jersey, Canada, wherever you are. I thank you for your offerings, however much it is or however little it is. It keeps the website up and going. And those of you that cannot give very much, I thank you, because I know you don't have much. This woman here didn't have much, but she gave all she had. She gave all she had. Let's go back and read all of this together. from the Amplified Bible up to verse number 21 and verse 4. And some of the scribes replied, Teacher hath spoken well and expertly, so that there is no room for blame. For they did not dare to question him any longer. But he asked them, How can people say that Christ the Messiah, the Anointed One, is David's son? For David himself says in the book of Psalms, The Lord said to my Lord, sit down at my right hand till I make your enemies a footstool for you. Psalm 110 verse one. So David calls him Lord. How then is he his son? Because this son, this lineage would be the son of God. And with all the people listening, he said to the disciples, to his church members, Beware of the scribes who like to walk in long robes, stoles, and love to be sleuted with honor in the places where people gather and congregate, and love the front and the best seats in the synagogues. By the way, they bought their seats in the synagogue. You just don't go to the synagogue, you have to buy your seat. That's your seat. So they bought the front seats in the synagogues. because they had plenty of money. And the place of the distinction at the feast. Now he's gonna go down and watch, he's gonna slide into that old woman. Who make a way and would devour widows' houses. To cover it up with pretense, make long prayers, they will receive the greater condemnation, the heavier sentence, the severe punishment. Looking up to Jesus, Looking up, Jesus saw the rich people putting their gifts into the treasury, that offering plate. And he saw also a poor widow putting in two mites, two copper coins, actually today they're aluminum. And he said, truly I say to you, this widow has put in more than all of them, for they all gave out of their abundance. Their surplus, but she has contributed out of her lack and her very want, putting all that she had on which to live. Our Heavenly Father, we send this message out. I pray that you put it on the hearts of people to serve you in a great way. Father, I thank you for all those out there that have helped us keep the website up. Because without them, I couldn't have done it. With the big offerings and the little offerings, too. To me, they're all the same. Even though sometimes I pray for big ones because we need them. Father, thank you for each and every one like this widow. Because I know that there's many of them out there. Forgive me, Father, where I fail you. And Father, I pray that if there's one lost out there, that they'll hear your word, that they will repent of their sins and call upon you, really repent and have a change of heart and life and confess. Father, I glorify you with your word, I pray. In Jesus' name, I ask these things, amen.
