Would you turn with me to John, please? John chapter 3. You really don't need to turn there, because you know this verse. But in case you need it, we're going to quote it together. Okay? John 3.16. Let's quote it together, please. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Now, let me start that again. And when I stop, I want you to tell me the next two words. For God so loved. Who is the world to you. What is that really to you? To me? Somebody answer that. What does He mean by the world? Okay, everybody, people. Usually the word every shows up when I ask this question. Do we really mean it? For God so loved the world. Maybe I should ask this question. How much prejudice do you have? Now, that's a nasty question. You might say, oh, I'm not prejudiced. I beg to differ with us. We all have prejudice. And it comes in different shapes and sizes. I had a missionary last year, I believe it was, in a missions conference. Come up to me and ask me this question. This was a veteran missionary, but he asked this question. How do you witness to a blind person? And I told him, just like you witness to a sighted person. You can't see them as blind. You've just got to look at them as another person. Now, you have to approach them a little differently because they are blind. Just like you would have to approach a Muslim a little differently because he's Muslim. Let me ask you this question. What is your immediate response? Immediate response. When you see a man or a woman who is covered from the top of their head almost to the bottom of their feet with tattoos. What's your response? Hmm, okay. Yeah, okay. I stopped for gas the other day. The lady the next pump over, a young lady in her 20s, I would say, was covered with tattoos. You know what my response was? Gross. Is that a prejudice? Yes. And you know what? I never offered her a gospel tract. Didn't even think about it. Because I let my prejudice get in the way. For God so loved the ones that are covered in tattoos. Let me touch on another issue. that is really coming into western North Carolina? How about the gay lesbian community? If you knew a person fit into that lifestyle, would you go out of your way to be a witness to them? Hey, they're a people group, aren't they? Sure are. And you don't even have to learn a language. You know, they're there. You've got to reach them. What if you were to meet somebody like some of these pictures right up here? Would you be drawn to them for the Lord? Or would you stand back? For God so loved the world. Oh, but I wasn't like that when I got saved. In God's sight, we were all a bunch of filthy rags. For God so loved the world. There are a hundred and fifty million Braille readers in the world. And as far as I know, we are the only evangelical organization in America that is producing materials for them to come to know Christ as Savior and to grow in the Lord. It's a huge job. When we were in the printing press, we could put out 10,000 lessons an hour. I mean, that thing was a humming. Takes me a half an hour to produce one. It's labor-intensive. It's costly. Almost six dollars for one. Now, the only benefit we have is our postage. You say, boy, that must eat you up. No, our postage says, free matter for the blind. And the post office has to send it that way. So, thank the Lord for that. But here you have different groups. And it was shared with you Friday night. What's a fairly new group that's really growing in this area? The Jewish community in Hendersonville. Oh, how do you deal with a Jew? They hate Gentiles. Just like you deal with a Gentile that hates Christians. You've got to reach out to them. I'm glad the Lord gave me an opportunity yesterday to kind of redeem myself from that fiasco at the gas station. A lady broke down in the parking lot out here. We were out walking the dogs and she and some mechanic were there. Her timing chain was broken, so that car wasn't going anywhere. She didn't have a full head of teeth. She was rough. She looked like she had been playing in sin for a while. God gave me the opportunity to take a gospel tract out to her. Talk to her a little bit about the Lord. Invite her to come to church. Wasn't able to get address or anything for follow-up. But you know, that's a people group. I tend to call prejudice this. Anything that is outside of our comfort zone. It's not a black-white issue. It's not a white-oriental issue, a black-oriental issue, a Hispanic issue, whatever. It's what is not comfortable for us. For God so loved the world. What does the word world really mean to you? Are you one that will stop and lend a helping hand and share the gospel? Or if it's not comfortable, are you one that will pass by on the other side? What does the world really mean to you? For me, oh, it's a brand new group of people. I love these people. For you, it's going to be somebody else, somebody else, someplace else for some who may be called to be missionaries. But the bottom line is we're all called. If we know Jesus Christ as Savior, we are all called. to share the gospel. Let me finish with this. About two years ago, I had a church in Pennsylvania that gave me a call. The pastor said, you know, we have a blind man in our church. He's faithful as clockwork. Sits on the front row. My wife and I sit right behind him while the song service is going on. But he sits right here on the front row. And after about 15 years, it finally dawned on us that the only music that he could sing was what he had memorized. Fifteen years. It finally dawned on us. And he basically said, shame on us for waiting that long. But it finally dawned on us, do you have such and such a hymn book? And I said, as a matter of fact, I'm working on that right now as we speak. That was one of my first projects as a transcriptionist. I said, I'm slow, I'm young, not in age. I'm young at this, and it's going to take me a while. He said, that's fine. We just want one. I said, if you give me his name and address, I'll send it to him as soon as I've got it done. I'll let you know. He said, no, no. Send it to the church. We want to present it to him. So the day came. I sent it. The Sunday after they presented it, the pastor called me. He said, let me tell you what happened. We presented that to him. He's got this beautiful baritone voice and he's not bashful about it either. And he said, we purposely pulled the hymns out of the binders to put in a small binder so he would have it. And I'm going to say this is my braille binder. And the very first song that we sang was a song that we had just started learning, so we knew he didn't know it. And he'd have to use this. Said he opened that up and began to sing. No music, just the words, but he began to sing. And he said, when we finished the song, everybody in the church heard. He spoke at the top of his voice. I did it. I finally did it. And folks, that's what drives me to reach these people. That's what makes me. I'm not a desk person, but that's what makes me sit at a desk. seven, eight hours a day working on Braille to hear testimonies like that. I did it. I finally did it. And I'm going to challenge you to find your niche, wherever it might be, so that you might hear somebody say, I did it. For God so loved, say it with me, the world. Father, thank You for our opportunities to serve You. Lord, everybody in this building that knows You as Savior, has a niche that they can fill, whether they're filling it or not. That's between them and you. Lord, every one of us has a group of people. They may be just like us or they may be very unlovely, but a group of people that they need to reach out to and share the gospel. Father, I pray for those that are struggling. It's maybe a neighbor. Maybe it's a co-worker. Maybe it's a family member. It's been very difficult. Or Lord, maybe it's a church outreach. And Lord, I pray that this church would get involved with the Jewish community right here. We don't have to go around the world. The Hispanic community right here. We don't have to go around the world. Father, You've brought them to us. Help us to be faithful in Jesus' name.
