What Catholics Believe About Authority
Series What Protestants Believe
Protestants believe that the scripture is our only source of authority for matters of faith and practice. Protestants do not accept the teachings of popes or bishops. Protestants believe saints are the Bible's term for every believer in Christ. They also believe that bishops (often translated overseers) can be married and that requiring celibacy of them is an unbiblical requirement that has led to the scandals of priests in recent years.
