These provide firm foundations
for our future. The Lord said, there's a wise
man and a foolish man. The foolish man builds his house
on sand. The wise man builds his house on the rock. And one
day, the storm will rage, the winds will blow, the rain will
fall, the floods will rise, and the house built on the sand will
collapse. But that which is built on the firm rock foundation of
God's word will endure forever. There was a time, not very long
ago, when Christians were known to be people of integrity, who
could be trusted to keep their word. So pervasive was the Christian
work ethic that verbal agreements were binding and sufficient.
Now you get Christians violating even sworn agreements and oaths
and written contracts, sadly. I remember this. I remember seeing
nurses bowing in prayer, kneeling in the ward before their term
began. It was 1972, I was in the hospital
in Bulawayo, and I remember seeing this, I was there as a kidney
stone patient. But when did you last see nurses
kneeling in prayer in a ward these days? Or singing and praying
around a patient's bed? Burglar bars and alarms and security
gates were unknown and unnecessary. When I grew up, I never got locked
out of home because there was no such thing as locking the
doors, except maybe at night when everyone was asleep. Maybe
our father locked the doors late at night, but I never recalled
being locked out of home growing up. So when people ask who the
born frees, I raise my hand because I was born free of burglar bars,
security gates, razor wire. I walked to school. I remember
at age 12 in Bolivar, putting on my bush knife, my bush hat,
and my water bottle, and going for adventure, walking out of
town to Komi ruins, which is 20 kilometers away. And I walked
there and back on a Saturday. My parents didn't know I was
going anywhere. And it didn't matter. I just had to be home
in the sunset. And Rhodesia was at war at that time. I was freer
and safer in Maribyland back during the war in Rhodesia than
you are today in anywhere in South Africa. Extraordinary.
And I saw bullets. are buffalos and wildebeests,
giraffe, zebra, warthogs, not in a game reserve, just outside
the city limits, just walking from Bulowai to Kami ruins and
back. We were free from all those settings.
There were no burglar bars in our windows. If it ever was locked
out, I could have climbed through a window, but we never were locked
out. If the front door ever was locked, you'd go the back door,
which is never locked in. We didn't live with the attitude
of locks and keys that we have today. I hitchhiked 140,000 kilometers
around this country in the early years of this work. And you know,
sometimes I was stuck in a town, there's nowhere to go, just pouring
with rain. You know what I'd do? I'd often
go into a church. Churches were unlocked. Especially
Anglican churches. We'd go into church any time
for prayer and meditation. At night, when it was raining,
I often went into church, laid out my sleeping bag on the carpet,
and slept out of the rain. That happened often, many a time. It was so unusual. Now you've
got churches, burglar boards, security gates, motion sensors. Maybe not in your country, but
in South Africa, that is normal, sadly. And this is the way things
used to be. I remember if I was downtown,
I'd been to the library or bookshop, and I had some books, and I saw
my father's car. I'd go and put the books in the
car, because the car was locked. So downtown, I could put my books
here, so my arms were free, carry on shopping or whatever. And
sometimes I think the car ignition, the keys were still in ignition.
That was normal. There were times that I was hitchhiking
and I slept in parks. I remember middle of the night
even, sometimes, middle of nowhere, JP Park, Jo'burg, Hillborough,
rolling out my sleeping bag and sleeping, sometimes in the rain.
And you were safe. You'd be considered insane to
do it today. There was a time when you could hitchhike around
the country and I'd stand by the side of the road, pull out
my thumb and get lifts and I had a chance to witness people. As
a new missionary I had no resources and no funds and no vehicle,
so hitchhiking was a key way of travelling. And you were safer
on the roads then. I think you'd be irresponsible
if you did that. Just think how clean and safe the beaches and
so on and so forth were. But that's when you had a serious
police force and when you actually had law and order and respect
for law and order. But now Durban Beachfront is a crime zone. I
went to Durban Beachfront recently and got mugged twice in the space
of 10 minutes. So I started to walk across the
street. a conference for the ACDP, African Christian Democratic
Party. The hotel they put us up in,
it was boiling hot and air conditioners didn't work and so on. So I was
down to go for a walk along the beachfront, the Golden Mile.
And I go down there and I'm in my shorts and t-shirts and sandals.
I'm starting to walk across the road. And I could see at the
end of West Street, to one West Street, there's four men positioning
themselves to mug me, to ambush me. And it's all happening slow
motion. I'm thinking, for years I've
been waiting for this to happen. Somebody try to mug me, please,
you know, try it. And here it's going to happen.
I'm so amazed. So I'm walking across the road
and sure enough, on the other side, a Nigerian chap pulls out
a massive big silver gun. probably 45, and he's waving
at my face and he says, we're mugging you. Well, he probably
thought in t-shirt and shorts I couldn't be armed, but I had
my hand in my pocket of my shorts and I had nine millimeter thrust
into his face. My finger was on the trigger.
My thumb was on the safety catch and slipped it off safety catch
and said, no, you're not. And suddenly he disappeared and
his four friends around all disappeared. and I'm in the middle of West
Street that time, where is everyone? They've all gone. So I start
walking along Marine Parade and wasn't long, I saw people following
me. So I'm quick on my pace, I walk
briskly anyway. Very few people can keep up with
me when I'm walking. So they're still keeping up with me, they're
gaining on me, seeing in car mirrors, some streets. glass
windows and I'm seeing the reflections. I cross the road, they cross
the road with me. I cross back again, they cross back with me.
I'm definitely being followed. So I put my hand in my pocket,
got my thumb on the safety catch, finger to the side of the trigger,
ready. And I looked over my shoulder and there behind me, two of them
were much more advanced and one had a big knife in his hand.
So I swiveled around, raised my 9mm towards him. This chap
disappeared very fast, as did the other man. But the third
one from a distance kept walking and he was laughing. So I stayed
at the ready, still pointed down, but I waited and he laughed. He said, I said you were too
alert, but they said they'd take a chance. So he said, are you
from Sweden? I said, no, I'm not from Sweden,
I'm from Cape Town, I'm South African. And he says, I knew you were
tourists. We normally just concentrate on tourists, because tourists
are never armed. And so he's acting like he's in the tourism
business and chatting away. And we walked for a while, and
I pocketed my pistol, and then he disappeared after a while.
Well, after an hour's walk, I get back near the swimming pool.
And there by the Wimpy Bar and the Milky Way and so on, I find
lots of police, bulletproof vests, weapons all around, submachine
guns. armored cars. I said, has there been a riot
or something? No, they're just on patrol. And I said, on patrol? I've been an hour walking on
the beach and I haven't seen one policeman. There's about
eight here by this Milky Way. He said, we're stopping for some
coffee and donuts. All at the same time, all at
the same place. And I wrote to the mayor and
I wrote to city councilors and so on about this incident. Two
mugging attempts in 10 minutes on the Golden Mile. Now, what's
the matter with Durban? You're meant to be a tourist
place. What tourists are going to manage this? Swedish people
aren't going to be ready for this. And they'll never come
back again. You mug one person, it gets all
over the media overseas and they stop coming. You've put billions
into tourism industry in Durban. The tourists aren't going to
come to get mugged. This is bad PR. But anyway, that's just showing
you how things have changed. The crime, there were times when
you could cycle almost anywhere. And this is what downtown Durban
once was. In Moroland, up in Equatorial
Sudan, the people there have been so evangelized and so discipled.
I said to Samaritan's Purse of Franklin Graham, I was trying
to talk them to come into Sudan to set up a hospital amongst
the Moro people. I said, there's no hospital for
seven million people in Equatorial and I wanted them to come. Well,
as I was telling them about the Moro people, I said, these people
are so Christian, you could leave your wallet lying on the main
road opposite the market and someone would bring it to you
and nothing would be missing. And these guys were so skeptical,
they said, that's not possible. So one day, we are about to head
out in a vehicle to go to Louis to see the original hospital,
where I think they can set up a Samaritan's Purse hospital.
And so on the way, Ken Isaacs, the communications man, says
to me, Peter, do you really believe that rubbish about you can leave
your wallet at the marketplace and someone will pick it up and
another thing will be missing? Yes, I said. So he said, give
me your wallet. I gave him my wallet. He threw
it out the window, landed on a dirt road just outside the
market. Now I'm starting to have second
thoughts. Not that there's a lot of money in my wallet, but there
are some cards and a little bit of cash, but it's mostly the
cards that are valuable, and my ID. But anyway, I'm worried
all day. What if somebody from another
village or some refugee comes past? I trust the moral people,
but I'm not sure about the Dinka and the Bari and Zandi and others
around me. And so I'm just praying that the right people are going
to find this. So that night we come back, not a word. The next
morning, just as we were preparing for church, along comes Ken and
Ruben, and he says, these two boys found this wallet by the
marketplace. Is it yours? I opened up, well,
there's my ID with my picture, so yes, obviously it's mine.
But everything's there, nothing's missing. I look, and there's
Ken Isaacs. mouth wide open. They were shocked. They were impressed. And so Samaritan's
Purse came back to Moorland just a few weeks later, set up a hospital.
They said, we're never anywhere more than three months, but we'll
commit to six months here to this project. They were there
10 years. which was the best and biggest project ever done
by Smilespace. Hundreds of thousands of operations,
10 years, magnificent work, it all because the people had integrity,
they wouldn't steal somebody's wallet left lying on the open
road. And you can see the fruit of a God-fearing society, where
people read the Bible, where people fear God, where people
respect their neighbors, where people love their neighbors,
not fear their neighbors. And these are some of my friends
in Moroland, in Equatorial South Sudan, what now is the independent
country of South Sudan. But these are people who've been
influenced by the gospel of Christ. And these people, they will not
lie, they will not steal, nor will they tolerate amongst themselves
anyone who does. That is a Christian society where you can build a
future without being afraid of your neighbor who's going to
steal from you when your back's turned. There was a time when women and children
could walk alone without fear or danger. What happened? In South Africa, we've got Freedom
Day, which is celebrated behind bars. I mean, have you noticed,
if you've been to South Africa, how many people live behind burglar
bars, security gates, razor wire, and they celebrate Freedom Day.
It reminds me of a joke I learned to announce in Zambia recently.
Up in Lusaka, they were telling a joke that the South African
ambassador was, a new South African ambassador came to Lusaka, and
he was introduced to the Zambian Minister of Naval Affairs. And
the South African ambassador said, you can't have a Minister
of Naval Affairs, you're a landlocked country. And the Zambian responded,
but in South Africa, don't you have a Ministry of Justice? It's a good point, you know.
Proverbs 14 verse 34, righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a
disgrace to any people. Hate evil, love good, maintain
justice like in the courts, let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never failing stream. That's Amos chapter five.
Just think of Victoria Falls. the water flowing over and over,
millions of tons. Let righteousness flow like a
mighty stream. We should have a never-ending
flow of justice. That's what the fruits of Christianity
should be. But the solution to all our political
and social problems is not merely to have Christian officials elected.
Recent history amply demonstrates many of those who claim to be
Christians can advocate and vote for policies that are blatantly
in conflict with God's law. We've got people in South Africa
like we have a head of the Democratic Alliance who was a pastor. Can
you please, Musi Anani. Now Musi, meant to be a pastor,
ran a party that stands for LGBTQ, gay, trans, perversion rights,
gambling, legalized pornography, legalized legalized abortion. What good is it having a pastor
running a party that stands for killing babies and all the rest
of it? The Bible forbids the shedding of innocent blood. Yet
how many Christians vote for political parties that support
the killing of babies through abortion? Here we are standing
outside the High Court in Cape Town and God's court abortion
is murder. The Bible forbids theft. Taxation
above 10%. The Bible forbids the taxation
of property. No taxation of inheritance. Your grandfather paid his taxes.
Now, a righteous lays up inheritance for his grandchildren. So now,
he wants to leave inheritance for his children. He paid tax
on what he earned. Now you've got to pay tax on the inheritance.
That's stealing from the dead, that's theft. That is forbidden
in the scripture. God forbid that you should tax
the inheritance. God forbid that you tax property.
The Bible forbids the taxation of those involved in the full-time
service of the Lord. Even the choir people, whoever
was involved in the full-time service of the Lord in a temple,
they did not get taxed. Why? They were supported from
freewill offerings of the congregation. And those people are really paid
their taxes. How can a government make a tax on a freewill offering
made unto the Lord? Do you know, back in 1980s when
our mission began, If somebody gave me 100 rand for Bibles,
I could buy 50 Bibles, you know? The average Bible is 2 rand a
Bible. Hardcover. 2 rand. And I didn't take anything
off for tax because the Bible study was exempt from tax. No
taxes on Bibles. Today, if someone gives me 100
rand for Bibles, I can buy half a Bible. Half, and less than
half because they're going to take 15% off for tax. They tax Bibles and it's pathetic,
the whole situation. What we've got now is pastors
paying taxes, churches paying taxes, God forbids it. They're
taxing what's already been taxed and which is now a free will
offering as unto the Lord. They're stealing from God. Yet many Christians
support taxation policies which break all these biblical principles.
You're not to tax property, you're not to tax inheritance, and you're
not to tax people in full-time service to the Lord. Isaiah 61,
verse 8, for I, the Lord, love justice. I hate robbery. I hate
iniquity. The great British reformer, the
Bible translator, Professor John Wycliffe of Oxford University,
he taught, the Bible is given for the government of the people,
by the people, and for the people. By the way, you may think that
was said by Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln
quoted it, but he didn't attribute the quote. He plagiarized it.
That was written in the 1300s by John Wycliffe in a preface
to the first English Bible. The Bible is given for the government
of the people by the people for the people. That's not an Abraham
Lincoln quote. That's a Professor John Wycliffe
quote. The primary message of the Bible is how sinful men and
women like you and I can be reconciled to a holy creator. How can a
holy God allow sinful people like you and I into his heaven?
That is the main issue. The secondary message of the
Bible is how we are to live our lives in obedience to the law
of God. Because God is the creator of all, his word speaks to all
areas of life. God's word speaks about education,
crime, punishment, economics, justice, entertainment, all areas. Yet many Christians reject or
neglect God's word and its application to all areas of life. Look at
how many Christians will say that the Bible says nothing about
politics. Well, not party politics, but it says a lot about political
principles. Jesus said to Pontius Pilate, you will have no authority
over me unless it's been given to you from above. All authority
is limited. All authority is delegated. All
authority is answerable to God. And there's key principles that
Lord Jesus did teach that affect political issues. Jesus said,
if anyone loves me, he will obey my teachings. Most Christians
don't seem to understand we're in a war, a spiritual world war. It's a war of ideas, it's a war
of ideologies, and if we could see the spiritual realm, the
demons arrayed against us, the angels arrayed fighting for us,
understand the weapons God's given us, the sword of the spirits,
which is the word of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate
of righteousness, the helmet of salvation, the shield of faith,
feet shewed with the preparation of proclaiming the gospel of
truth. It's a war we're involved in. You either give your allegiance
to God or you give your allegiance to Satan. And the world is a
battlefield. And you've seen some people's
minds are not filled with much at all, except a few slogans
and mantras of some ideologies these days. And you can see the
LGBTQ, the communist, the Antifa mobs, the BLM, EFF and so on. They just have a whole bunch
of slogans and hatred to shout out at you. You can't apply knowledge
in the libraries that you've read to them because they're
not even thinking. Unfortunately, many Christians
have failed to renew their minds. Romans 12 says, we're not to
be conformed to this world, but we have our minds renewed, not
removed, renewed. Some Christians think that Christianity
is about a blind leap into the dark, a blind leap of faith.
No, it's an intelligent step into the light. Faith is faith
in facts. We're not meant to be just blindly
jumping into the dark. Most Christians don't seem to
understand how the humanist worldview and the new world disorder is
conflicting with a Christian biblical worldview. How many
Christians are accepting the LGBTQ nonsense that's being shoved
down their throats and what Hollywood's giving? They're not even thinking,
let alone thinking biblically. If you read the newspaper more
than you read the Bible, if you read secular books and secular
magazines more than Christian publications, if you visit secular
websites more than Christian websites, if you watch TV more
than you worship Christ, then it is inevitable. You may have
a Christian heart, but you will have a humanist mind. Many Christians
are practical atheists because they're watching TV more than
they are reading the Bible. How on earth can they have a
Christian mind? Their mind's not being renewed at all. Romans
1.28 says, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain
the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind.
You think of how many people have a depraved mind. Why? They
didn't think it's worthwhile to retain knowledge of God. They
don't start the day with a Bible. It's not the Bible before breakfast,
not the scripture before supper. They don't read a psalm before
lunch. They are just the world. What does Wikipedia say? What
does Google say? What is the world saying? What
is the Clinton News Network or the Bolshevik Broadcasting Corporation
or Slime Magazine or Useless News and World Report, Newspeak,
the Sunday Crimes? I mean, what does the Cape Crimes
have to say? They're not thinking about God.
Now, it's not that the humanists have actually abolished the Ten
Commands. They've just replaced God's law with man's law. Do
you want to know what the new Ten Commands are? If you're a
secular humanist, these are the new 10 commands. You shall not
be intolerant of other religions, beliefs, or views, except for
Christianity, of course. You can be intolerant of Christianity,
but you're not allowed to be intolerant of Buddhism, atheism,
Satanism, occultism, Islam, whatever. You shall not read the Bible
or pray in schools. However, sex education, even
in primary schools, must be mandatory. That's what they're trying. The
Bailer Bill, Common Core, they're trying to continually force sexual
perversion on kids, even in primary school. You've got to brainwash
little kids in primary school now about transgender nonsense. Maybe you're a girl in a boy's
body, maybe a boy in a girl's body, and so on. Do you know
what gender-affirming care is? Castrating boys and vasectomies
for girls, sterilizing kids, they call it gender-affirming
care. That's not gender-affirming care, that's genital mutilation,
that's mutilation, that's child abuse, it's evil. It's insane,
and this is what they've been pushing in America. We're looking
forward to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. changing a few of
these things. I certainly hope Donald Trump
demolishes the Department of Education, which is just a perversion,
indoctrination, woke, evil outreach for Satan that they're running
in America. And Europe's got worse. It's not like they're
not doing things like that too. Praise God that in Swaziland
you've got some standards, and you've got a king who stands
for biblical principles. Praise God for a little island
of sanity in an ocean of insanity. We've got so many insane, stupid,
bizarre, ridiculous things going on in the world. Europe, North
America, Australia, Canada, one of the worst governments on the
earth is under Trudeau and Kander. And South Africa's government
is pretty stupid and insane. You know what the middle letters
of cancer are? Middle East of cancers, A and C. You know what
a cancer is? A cancer is a cell that doesn't
contribute to the health of the body, it breaks down the health
of the body. So we've got a cancer government. When I write about
our government, I put small c, capital A and C, small e r, cancer. It's becoming popular on social
media. I started the trend a few years ago. And you can see here,
in the world of ideas, you're meant to look at these dead trees,
but you're not allowed to look at the fruitful trees that's
under religion, off limits. It's okay for Muslims to block
traffic without bowing on the streets during the midday prayers.
That's fine. But a Christian praying on the
sports field before or after a match, that is considered unacceptable.
So we're living in a crazy world. Third commandment, you shall
never take the names of Darwin, Marx, Mao, or Mandela in vain. However, cursing and ridiculing
names of Jesus Christ is an essential part of free speech. Take the
Lord's name in vain, no problem. but you're not allowed to take
the names of the idols of the New World Order in vain. Remember
to keep holy Human Rights Day, Freedom Day, Workers' Day, Women's
Day, Youth Day. I trust you've got more sensible
holidays in Swaziland, but in South Africa we've got these
mindless, worthless, idiotic days. Here we've got effectively
human trafficking legalized in South Africa, prostitution legalized,
pornography legalized, and then they have a woman's day. Women
don't need a meaningless public holiday. What they need is respect
and protection. Ban pornography, execute rapists.
That would be sensible, but just a meaningless woman's day from
pious, hypocritical politicians. What does that mean? And do be
sure to go shopping on the Lord's Day. Plan other activities for
Good Friday, Easter, Ascension Day, and Xmas, but keep holy
Human Rights Day and so on. In fact, they got very upset
when we did life change on Human Rights Day, reminding them of
the most basic rights of all, the right to life of pre-born
babies. You know, we were desecrating, blaspheming Human Rights Day
by having a life change, standing for life. We are often accused
of blaspheming Women's Day because we campaign against human trafficking,
sex trafficking, and prostitution, pornography, and therefore we're
desecrating their Women's Day by doing Women's Day outreaches
standing up for women. You would think that that was
a good thing to do. And when we have Freedom Day and we'll
organize outreaches on how you can be free from sin, that's
considered blaspheming Freedom Day. They can see where these
things stand. Fifth command, honor your mother
earth and father state. Sixth command, you shall not
defend yourself against assailants and rapists. You may not kill
rapists and murderers. You may not have convicted murderers
executed, but you may kill helpless infants through abortion. You
can kill the incurable and very old through euthanasia. But don't
stop with them. Once you realize what a burden
you've become to Mother Earth, you may want to request a physician-assisted
suicide. So in a place like Canada, literally
people go to the doctor saying, I'm depressed. How can you help
me? And the doctor says, have you
considered physician-assisted suicide? Dead serious, this is
Trudeau's government. They are trying to encourage
people to commit suicide. Not just old people, even young
people, even teenagers. They're underpressed. What teenager's
not depressed on some occasion? Have you considered physician-assisted
suicide? The medical professionals in
Canada are being encouraged to encourage people, their patients,
to commit suicide and to give them the drugs, to give them
an injection, whatever. Can you imagine? These people need help.
They go to the doctor, and the doctor's encouraging them to
kill themselves. Why? The Canadian government says
they're wasting a lot of money on keeping these sick people
alive. It's better that we can redirect those funds. So the
state, and they've got national health, in other words, socialized
health care. You go to the government for
help, you know, I've got a medical problem. We can help kill you. That'll get rid of all your problems. You know, you think that this
is a joke, but unbelievably this is what's happening in some of
these idiotic, insane governments. And Canada and New Zealand must
have two of the most idiotic governments on the planet. Abortion
is murder. We marched to Parliament on a
1st of February every year to protest against our government's
legalization of murder. We have had between 2 to 6 million
babies murdered in South Africa through abortion since 1997,
since they legalized it. Every abortion stops at beating
heart. So these are some of our protests outside the gates of
parliaments in Cape Town. You shall not commit murder.
Abortion is murder. And just in case they don't get
the meaning of words, we have a picture of life and a picture
of abortion. And does that look like choice to you? cutting a
baby into pieces. We know that President Thabo
Mbeki saw this. He must have been the worst president
we ever had in South Africa. Thabo Mbeki was a hardcore Marxist
Socialist, humanist, anti-Christian, trying to close every Christian
school, trying to close down every Christian radio station
in the country. We really had to fight every day to keep our
rights under Mbeki. Well, we did this poster, a quote
from scripture, Deuteronomy 30. This day I call heaven and earth
as witnesses against you, that I've set before you life and
death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and
your children may live. Thabo Mbeki saw this, he was
going in his car through the gates of Parliament, and just
a few minutes after he went through the gate, riot police came running
out in full battle gear, with shields and so on, took this
banner, brought it inside the gates of Parliament, and burned
it. Now what's so offensive about this scripture? Choose life,
said Junior Children Manifestation. That's offensive, that's hate
speech. People who hate the truth hate, these kind of truths. So they call it hate speech because
they hate the truth. And so we thought, well, if they
hate this verse so much, we're going to put it on T-shirts,
we promote it all over the place. Deuteronomy 30, choose life.
This, by the way, is Planned Parenthood's abortion facility
headquarters in Texas, largest abortion facility in the Western
Hemisphere. What does this remind you of? The Aztec temples where
they used to take people up to whip their beating hearts out,
human sacrifice to make the sun rise each day. But this is what's
happening, blatant paganism in the West. Planned Parenthood
said, does this remind you of a Baal temple also, Aztec Inca
temple or what? If you haven't seen Apocalypto,
I recommend it, to see what societies were like before the gospel got
there. This is a representation of how many babies are killed
every day just in the United States of America through abortion.
More than 4,000 babies killed per day through abortion in America. I'm sorry to say in South Africa
it's something like 700 a day. Seventh command, you shall not
call it adultery or fornication or homosexuality. You shall not
call it pornography or perversion. Don't be so bigoted and judgmental.
If it feels good, do it. Don't consider the consequences
for yourself, or the consequences for your family, or your spouse,
or your children, or for society in general. Give free expression
to every lust and craving. Just call it an alternative lifestyle.
That's the seventh command. But we've demonstrated outside
the adultery worlds. This was illegal in South Africa
in the past. But Manila legalized this in
1997. All kinds of pornography allowed.
Every kind of pornography allowed. Absolutely disgusting. But the
scripture says, I will set before my eyes no vile thing. Real men
do not use porn. I mean, what kind of pervert,
sicko, needs digital dolls and plastic dolls. Can they not grow
up, get a life, get a wife? I mean, what is the matter with
these people? Real men do not use pornography. Eighth command,
do not steal, because the government hates competition. Pay all the
taxes we demand from you, even if you don't receive any services
back from the government. And as these people say, corruption
is killing us. We had a president in South Africa
say, corruption doesn't hurt anyone. Actually, corruption
hurts everyone. According to the African Union,
well, this is a picture worth 1,000 votes. In the last elections
we had, vote ANC, 2024. Yeah, and that's the kind of
litter you have around their posters. Nice to come to Swaziland
and not see litter all over the place. You've got a clean country
and you've got people who take pride in your country. Praise
God for that. This is Johannesburg. It used to be Igouli, the land
of gold, where the streets are paved with gold. Well, that was
a long time ago. Not now. If you must steal, take from
the hardworking bourgeois middle class. Just leave enough for
us to get our tax on them too. Now, what could the billions
lost to corruption have bought? Well, here's just an example
of how $275 billion could have built 10 new hospitals in London
for 18 years. $216 billion could have built
4 million houses. But I mean, this is just lost,
lost in a year. $15 billion could have built 1,000
more schools. $50 billion could host 10 more World Cup soccers.
what's it, 50 billion could have built 40 kilometers of new roads
and so on. And the African Union reports
over 34% of the gross domestic product or GDP of Africa is looted
every year by government corruption. That's on average. That means
more than a quarter of the total wealth of Africa is stolen by
so-called civil servants. That's 10 times more than all
the foreign aid to Africa combined. So you don't need foreign aid.
All you need is 10% less corruption. How about 100% less corruption?
Now, I'm sorry I don't have this in Rand, but this illustration
works just as well with dollars. So there's a $100 note. Could
just easily be a 100 Rand note. So start with that. Most everyone's
seen them. Slightly less people have owned
one. This is 10,000 Rand, or $10,000. You could fit it in
your pocket. OK? Now that is a million dollars. You could fill it in a plastic
bag, grocery bag, and walk around it. That's a million, OK? They've
got a million rand. Now a pallet. We deal with pallets
of literature. One pallet has about a ton. So
here you've got 100 million on a pallet. So OK, there's your
packet of 10,000 that can fit in your pocket. There's the million
that could fit in a grocery bag. Here's 100 million that's fitting
on a pallet, one ton. Okay, here's a billion, 10 pallets,
10 tons. $1 billion. Here's a trillion. Notice these are double stack
pallets, double stack, there's a person. That's a Pentecostal
18 wheeler truck. There's a pallet, there's one
person, there's a million. This is 1 trillion. The South
African government steals more than a trillion rand every year.
That's more than a football field. That's a look at the size of
a 747 jumbo jet. So it's bigger than the space
taken wing to wing, top to toe or tail of a massive aircraft. And that's a trillion. And by
the way, the American government spends something like $6 trillion,
but that's going to be chopped down by Musk and Vivek Vamashrami
on America's now got this commission to get rid of unnecessary government
waste. Just watch how many trillions are cut off the American deficit
and so on by cutting unnecessary government programs and unnecessary
government employees and so on. But when you talk about the ANC
wanting, for example, national health. National health. Canada's
got national health. And do you know what happens?
Every year, hundreds of thousands of Canadians come south of the
border to buy in America what they can get free in Canada.
Why would you do that? Because they can die before they
get the free care in Canada, if they haven't been committed
to suicide. But Canada's national health is a failure. Britain's
national health is a failure. I met a nurse in the same hospital
ward as my wife was in Cape Town, and she came from Britain. Why
did she fly from Britain to buy in Cape Town what she could get
free in England on national health? Because she'd be dead by the
time she got to the front of the queue. There's such a backlog
of cases. National health is a total failure
in Britain. So Britain has failed with national health. Canada
has failed with national health. But the ANC is going to do national
health in South Africa and it's going to work. They say. It's just another cookie jar
for them to smash and loot. These guys are kleptomaniacs. DANC, instead of more taxes,
maybe just steal less. We don't need more taxes. If
we just cut the corruption, we'd get more than all the taxes.
That's the eighth command. Ninth command. You may not tell
the truth or preach the gospel to your neighbor, for that may
offend them. You are not to offend your neighbor
or suggest he's wrong. Unless he's a Christian, then
he deserves any abuse, right? You can see how slime magazines
are continually putting blasphemous covers. Every Easter, every Christmas,
they put something blasphemous, something anti-Christian on their
covers. These are not journalists. These are prostitutes. Truth
is a new hate speech. During times of universal deceit,
telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act. Has anyone here ever read the
book 1984? They talk about thought crimes
and thought police, because it looks like you've had a little
bit too much to think. Support your local thought police.
Don't speak out of question. Closed minds stop thought crimes. Have you noticed today, if you
think like Christian, you'll be in serious trouble in Canada,
Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and in the United States of America,
because what we think is a thought crime. If you say something like,
well, there's only two genders, male and female. God created
the male and female, and it was good. That's a thought crime.
You say marriage can only be between a man and a woman. That's
a thought crime. How can you be so bigoted and
judgmental, so intolerant, so unfeeling? You homophobic bigot,
you transphobic bigot, you fascist, you Nazi. And you say something
like, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and life. No one comes
to the Father except through me. That's a thought crime. You've
offended someone. We think there's many ways to
God, like Oprah Winfrey and so on. Now they're offended at being
told Jesus is the only way. So we are in a thought crime
society now. 10th Command, you shall not think
differently from what the state TV tells you to think, for deviation
from the politically correct position is intolerable. You
see how people lost their jobs, lost their professorships. got
failed from school, got expelled from school, because they expressed
something like Professor Peterson saying something like, well,
there's only two genders biologically. And next thing, they go berserk.
How can he say something so offensive? So what is shaping and filling
your mind? If it is television and popular
music, and newspapers, then you'll be a humanist in your thinking.
Because these areas have been generally taken over by those
people who reject God and reject the Bible. And therefore they're
promoting, sometimes subtly, but they're promoting evolutionism.
Billions of years and so on. Situation ethics. Is it right
to sleep with your girlfriend before you get married? Well,
it depends. Is it okay to steal? Well, it depends. Situation ethics.
and immorality, socialism. Socialism is legalized theft
and it's institutionalized envy. Humanism is a secular religion. Humanism teaches that people
are not created in the image of God. And there are no absolute
moral standards of right and wrong. They teach man is a product
of evolutionary chance, product of the environment. You've evolved
by random chance from goo to the zoo to you, from mud and
molecules to monkeys to man. Once upon time, there was nothing.
And then there was something. And that something became everything.
A whole lot of time and a whole lot of nothing made everything.
And so you just matter in motion. Therefore, people are not moral
agents. We're victims of circumstances. It's not my fault. My mother dropped my dummy when
I was small, and I suffered irreparable psychological damage, and it's
the teacher's fault, and it's the police's fault, it's the
government's fault. Nothing's my fault. I'm innocent. And man
is the measure of all things, not God. That's the way the humanist
thinks. What does the Bible say? Colossians
2, verse 8. See to it that no one takes you
captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on
human tradition. and the basic principles of this
world rather than on Christ. In a household that has television,
the average child will see between 15,000 to 30,000 hours of television
before they leave school. And they will listen to over
10,000 hours of music before leaving school. It might even
be worse than that, actually, now that almost everyone's got
a cell phone. The amount of time kids spend on a screen, screens
are, television or their cell phones, blasted, cursed, damned
cell phones, is just mind boggling. Now, during that time, he'll
have seen from 800,000 to 1.5 million acts of violence, including
up to 360,000 murders depicted on television, and about a quarter
of a million to almost half a million sexual acts or references to
sex. That's the average home that has television on. During
that same time, they'll have spent about 800 hours in church,
2,000 hours with their parents, and about 12,000 hours in school. Now, what's bringing up your
child? Between 11,000 to 16,000 hours
in school, less than 2,000 hours of conversation, interaction
with their parents, and about 800 hours in church, or Sunday
school, or youth group. What values and worldview will
they receive from those choices? You can't expect one hour of
Sunday school to counteract 40 hours of school every week. That's
why the school must be God-fearing and must be Bible-based. Having
secular humanist schools is counteracting everything. Now, my wife and
I, we chose no TV in our home, ever. We did not have TV in our
home, and that was a good choice. Then we chose to homeschool our
children, and that was an even more wonderful choice. We protect
our children from all the evil garbage that we're gonna get
in the school. Now, they did learn about evolutionism and
communism and so on, but they learned it from a Christian perspective.
And all of our children, we never had any teenage rebellion, all
of our children, I've got four children and three grandchildren.
They all live in Cape Town. Now, most South Africans, their
children are all over the world. Bombshell, Australia, Canada,
wherever. Our families stay together because I'm sure homeschooling
and no TV. In our case, we found it was
much better. The media is not a reflection of reality. I mean,
just think of the COVID cult. Millions of people are going
to die from COVID in our country. That's what Trump has said. Millions
are going to die in South Africa from COVID. Hundreds of millions
are going to die worldwide from COVID. The worst plague to ever
hit the world. Even worse than the bubonic plague
apparently. Remember that scared us into closing down. We closed
down two million churches. Two million churches closed down
for Easter 2020. That's more than the history
of the world. The church continued to operate throughout the bubonic
plague that killed a third of Europe. Martin Luther invited
people of the plague into his home while his wife was pregnant.
Ulrich Zwingli was in Zurich caring for people of the plague,
even got the plague himself, almost down to it when the plague
hit Zurich. He didn't flee. The idea of closing
churches during a pandemic was just a bad flu when he got down
to it. I got COVID three times. Everyone I know in our mission,
our family got COVID, and we all survived. My wife, who was
dying of cancer at the time, had to go to hospital and they
said, sorry, our oncology ward is full. We're putting in a COVID
ward, but don't worry, there's no one else there. The COVID
ward, which is meant to be overflowing, had not one single person in
our local hospital. My wife was alone in there, and
she's an oncology patient, cancer patient, not there for COVID. And this COVID cult Lockdown
lunacy, mass-grade madness, salvation by vaccination, Covid cult. It's
an absolute scam. And to think they were able to
close down millions of churches, destroy how many businesses?
destroy how many people's lives, and they got away with it because
the media lied, the doctors lied. How can you ever trust a medical
professional again, if they went along with this COVID cult? What
a scare. What an absolute total disgrace.
They crippled businesses, not the big businesses, the big businesses
with lots and lots and lots of employees, they stayed open.
The small businesses were shut down. This is just insane. It made no sense. Nothing made
medical sense. A stupid little mask isn't going
to keep out this virus anyway. And for someone healthy, the
first rule of basic health is fresh air, which if you smoke
or wear a mask, breaks the first rule of good health. Fresh air,
clean water. healthy food, regular exercise,
not allowing people to go for walks, runs, or exercise, or
on the beach, or in the forest, was the worst thing you could
do. It made no sense. Why could people not go for walks?
We need exercise and a positive attitude. Well, they destroyed
the positive attitude just keeping people fear porn. That's what
it was, fear porn, just continually, you know, be afraid you're all
gonna die and fear your neighbor. I'm out walking with my grandsons
and I've got people screaming, where's your mask? Put on your
mask! Social distance! And it's disgusting. Imagine if our churches spent
as much time proclaiming the gospel as they put into the gospel
of social distancing. I mean, how about teaching people
about distancing themselves from the corruption of Hollywood and
from the TV and DSTV and all this other junk? If they put
the same emphasis into sanctification as they put into hand sanitizing
and all the other charades that they went through, just imagine
if the church had put as much money, time, and energy into
promoting the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ as they put into
this whole COVID cult, this whole masquerade madness, lockdown
lunacy. The amount of prostitutes, these media prostitutes who should
be reporters, and the doctors who should be dealing with health
were dealing with propaganda. and ministers of the gospel who
showed more enthusiasm for the gospel of the COVID cult, salvation
by vaccination, than they ever did in the gospel of Christ.
Absolutely disgusting if we've ever seen how insane the world's
leaders have become, COVID cult was, but the media is not a reflection
of reality. Romans 12 verse 2, do not be
conformed any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your minds. then you'll be able to test and
approve what God's will is, his good, pleasing and perfect will.
How many pastors tested what God's will is during the COVID
cult? Is this of God? Is this true? Do the facts back
it up? Is it healthy to wear masks and to hibernate and to
be too scared to go out and to not visit your parents or your
grandparents and all the rest of it? Do you know how many people
died alone? where their children are not even allowed to visit
them or say goodbye at the hospitals. The cruelty of this, and the
amount of people who died from this damn vaccination, cursed,
blasted, damn vaccination. My brother-in-law was forced
to get the jab, the clot shot, the Fauci-Alci, the so-called
vaccination, in order to keep his job. He took a few, maybe
four or five steps, fell over, went into a coma, died within
a week. That's back in 2021. And the amount of people we know
in Cape Town who died from getting the vaccination. I don't know
anyone who died of COVID. I know lots who died from the
COVID vaccination. And what a total scandal. I hope these people
are put on trial for war crimes. What a criminal operation the
whole bunch was involved in. Unless you make a conscious,
deliberate, daily effort to study God's Word, and to apply the
Lordship of Christ to all areas of life, you will inevitably
be conformed to this world. They'll brainwash you. News media,
Wikipedia, Google, all the news feeds that you get on your cell
phone, billboards, there's so much propaganda coming. And if
you ever watch a Hollywood film, they're going to be pushing their
woke, critical race theory, garbage, morning, noon, and night. You
will have your mind so scrambled you won't even be able to think
straight if you just let the world dump everything into your mind.
It's like putting an open sewer connection into your brain once
you're living in it. The news media, the educational institutions,
the entertainment industry are seldom sympathetic to biblical
values. They're normally hostile. What we see influences what we
think. What we think influences what we become, and that influences
what we do. Just think, why does Coca-Cola
put millions and millions of dollars every year into adverts?
Because even just a few second adverts is going to influence
you, and influence your buying choices. They wouldn't put millions
into a 30 second advert if it didn't have an impact, and if
it wasn't worth the while. So if Hollywood spends $100 million
on a film, Do you think they didn't put in that one or two
hour film what they really wanted to believe? They are pushing
down our throats their critical race theory, their gender dysphoria,
their transphobia and all the rest that they're continually
shoving down our throats what they want us to do, believe and
become. Ideas have consequences. Actions flow from thought patterns. We need to be culturally wise.
What form of education is moulding your thought patterns? What entertainment
and news media is filling your mind? In South Africa we've got
E-TV, we call it Evil TV. Be very careful in how you live,
not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity
because the days are evil. People have asked me how I had
the time to write the books I've written. Simple answer, I don't
watch television. So I've saved myself hours a
day. The average person spending, what, five, six, seven hours
a day watching TV? That's a whole lot of extra time
that you can use for research, writing, and more important things
like family. Here's the biblical standard,
Philippians 4 verse 8. Whatever is true, how much of
our media is true? Whatever is noble, how much of
Hollywood is noble? Whatever is right, Whatever's
pure, is there anything in Hollywood that's pure? Whatever's lovely,
whatever's admirable, if anything is excellent or praised well,
think about such things. That's the Christian standard
for our entertainment and our news media. And I'm afraid most
of the world's media fails. The BBC is the biased or Bolshevik
broadcasting corporation. The American CNN is the Clinton
News Network or the Communist News Network. Time Magazine,
I call Slime Magazine. Newsweek, I call Newspeak. U.S. News and World Report, I call
Useless News and World Report. SATV, Satanic Ultra-Television.
Ezekiel 44, verse 23. They are to teach my people the
difference between the holy and the common, and show them how
to distinguish between the unclean and the clean. How many of your
congregation can distinguish between the holy and the common,
between the clean and the unclean? or between the right and the
wrong, or the almost right and the wrong even. We need discernment. The gift that people should be
praying for is the gift of discernment. We need more discernment in our
churches. What has gone so wrong that those who claim to be Christians
can be guilty of deceit, Theft, immorality, promotion of pornography,
prostitution, homosexuality, gambling, and abortion. I mean,
just think of somebody like Pastor Muzi, who was running the DA
for years. A pastor, and his party stood
for all these things. Legalized pornography, prostitution,
homosexuality, gambling, Sabbath desecration, totally anti-Christian
agenda. We called the DA the demonic
alliance. The ANC and the DA, Call him
the D-A-N-C. Must have joined together anyway.
Don't you like how the government can't even spell stop? So how can Christians belong
to political parties which blatantly reject God's law and which promotes
gross evils? How can Christians vote for political
parties which advocate legalized prostitution, legalized gambling,
homosexuality, pornography, abortion, euthanasia? And that's what most
of the parties in South Africa stand for. And most of the votes
go to parties that stand for these idols. Yet we meant to
have 85% Christians in South Africa. Why are Christians not
voting their values? Romans 3, 18 says, there is no
fear of God before their eyes. And it's true. That was written
about pagans, but you can now write that over many churches.
There's no fear of God before their eyes. Many churches do
not even fear God. You see the distress we are in,
how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire.
Come, let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer
be a reproach. By the way, these pictures are
of Tswane, what used to be Pretoria, a while ago when I was there.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The fear of the Lord
is the beginning of knowledge. The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of understanding. For a society to be prosperous and peaceful,
it's essential that the society be made up primarily of moral
people. The foundations for a truly free, stable society can only
be laid in characters, minds, lives changed by the grace of
God. We need regenerate people to have a peaceful society. In
order to be successful, a society needs to be made up of honest
citizens who will not steal. Diligent people who are hardworking
and productive. Compassionate families who concern
for their neighbours. The church should be central
in any society. We need responsible workers who will fulfil their
obligations and be faithful stewards of public resources, not looting
and stealing for personal enrichment. The essential foundations for
any society is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the fear of
God. You cannot have a moral society unless people have faith
in Christ and the fear of God. the foundation for a free society. People who fear God, who pray. Blessed is the man who fears
the Lord, who finds great delight in his commands. Does anyone
recognize where this is? Anyone been here? Do you know
which city this is? It's the capital of a country.
That's a Vintook in Namibia. And you see the Christus Church,
the Lutheran Church, is in the smack center of the city because
it used to be that cities and counties were built around churches.
The church was at the focal center, geographic center, and moral
center of the society as well. Here we get into the heart of
the problem. Most of our churches are devoid of the fear of the
Lord. And far from delighting in God's commands, many Christians
actually despise God's law. I've heard preachers claim, we're
no longer under the law. And I was at a church where the
youth pastor took the communion service and he was forced because
the communion service to go through the order of service that required
even the 10 commands. He had to read the whole 10 commands,
all 10 of them. At the end he says, phew, ah,
glad we don't need to worry about any of that anymore. And so I
waited till everyone had left and I got him by the door and
said, what you had to say about the 10 commands is very interesting.
Which of the 10 commands do you think don't apply anymore? He
said, none of them. So I said, can we worship other
gods? No. Can we bow before idols? He didn't think so. Can we take
God's name in vain? He wasn't sure. May we desecrate
the Sabbath? Yes, definitely we should desecrate
the Sabbath. Sabbath doesn't apply anymore. Oh, okay. Can we diss on our parents? He
wasn't sure. What about murder? No, we can't murder. Come on,
can't we at least kill little babies, helpless babies, babies
before we can see them? Can't we at least vote for parties
that will kill for us through abortion? He wasn't sure. What
about adultery? Can we commit adultery? He didn't
think so. Well, can't we at least enjoy watching adultery on the
screen performed by actors in Hollywood films? He wasn't sure.
Can we steal? No, he didn't think so. Well,
can't we at least vote for political parties to steal for us? He wasn't
sure. What about lying? Can we lie? No, he didn't think we should
lie. Well, can't we at least enjoy watching lies on Instagram? This is based on a true story,
inspired by real events. Can't we at least enjoy reading
lies in the scandal mags and newspapers and magazines? He
didn't know. What about covetousness? Is it okay to covet? He wasn't
sure. Well, I mean all advertising is basically built on covetousness.
What you've got is not good enough. You need the new super duper
deluxe new edition of whatever. And everything you've got you
should be dissatisfied with. Covetousness is built into our whole materialistic
society. Well, anyway, the Bible defines sin as lawlessness. Here's
a youth pastor who didn't think that the Ten Commands were fine
anymore. You know what antinomianism is? Antinomist. Nomist is law,
antinomist, negative. So antinomian is someone who
rejects God's law. They need to listen to the words
of the Lord Jesus. Jesus said, do not think that I've come to
abolish the law or the prophets. I've not come to abolish them,
but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth
disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen
will be able to disappear from the law. Anyone who breaks one
of the least of God's commandments, and teaches others to do the
same, will be least in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever practices
and preaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom
of heaven. Now how much clearer could the Lord have put it than
he'd put it in Matthew 5, 17 to 19? God's law applies today. King Alfred the Great of England
laid the foundations for the common law. The common law of
England begins with these words, I'm the Lord your God who brought
you out of the house of bondage and the house of slavery in Egypt.
You ought to have no other gods before me. The whole 10 commands
the case laws of Exodus, and then the Sermon on the Mount
of Jesus. That is the common law of England. That is the dunes
of King Alfred, the foundations of Western civilization. These, like the golden rule of
Christ, do unto others who want to be done unto. That's the common
law. The principles of limited government and the foundations
of individual liberty can be traced through King Alfred to
the Bible, and that's according to a history of the English-speaking
people's history book. The law of God is the only effective
foundation for freedom and justice. The Ten Commands covers our responsibility
to God, our responsibility to our parents, and our responsibility
to other people and to even God's creatures. Notice even animals
are to be given a day of rest on the Sabbath. There's even
concern for the animals in the Ten Commands. And God spoke all
these words, I am the Lord your God who brought you out of Egypt,
out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods
before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form
of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the
waters below. You shall not bow down to them
or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing
the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth
generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand
generations of those who love me and who keep my commandments.
You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the
Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. Remember
the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor
and do all your work, but the seventh is the Sabbath day to
the Lord. On it you shall not do any work,
neither you nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant,
nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. For in six
days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all
that's in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore
the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Honor your
father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land
the Lord your God has given you. You shall not commit murder.
You shall not commit adultery. You shall not steal. You shall
not give false testimony against your neighbor. You shall not
covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's
wife, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything
that belongs to your neighbor. Now, these 10 commandments summarize
all the commands of God in the Bible. And each command deals
with a specific area. God, worship, speech, time, authority,
life, love, property, truth, conscience. So when it comes
to God, we should worship God alone. This forbids atheism,
polygamy, pantheism, all these different idols are forbidden. But it establishes your freedom
of worship. The second command deals with do not bow to any
idol. It doesn't tell us how to worship. It's not telling
you you've got to worship in the Presbyterian way or the Anglican
way. It doesn't say you've got to worship in the Lutheran way.
The only restriction on the worship is don't worship idols. worship
God alone. So you've got freedom here. You
can have Pentecostal worship, you can have Methodist worship,
you can have Baptist worship, you can have Anglican, Presbyterian. There's a wide range of worship
options, but you're not departed to either. There's very little
restrictions put on our freedom here. So you've got freedom of
worship. Freedom of speech. The only limit to your speech
is do not take God's name in vain and do not lie, do not bear
false witness. So those are the only restrictions.
Outside of that, you've got huge freedom of speech. There's very
little restrictions actually in the Ten Commands. God gives
us Ten Commands. Governments give us thousands
of laws. Time. Remember Sabbath day to keep
it holy. You're to work six days. You've
got the right to work, and you have the right to rest. There's
a real freedom here. When it comes to authority, your
first authority is your parents. Honor your father and your mother.
And it's not just your biological father and mother. It would also
include your grandparents, your uncles and aunts. This would
include the extended family, also your spiritual fathers and
mothers, your secular fathers and mothers, like the mayor,
the king, the governor, the prince. You've got to respect authority.
This would include respecting the police, respecting the authorities
in your life, whether it's your employer or your pastor. You can see honoring your father
and mother includes all the other authorities you need to respect
too. The right to life. Do not commit murder. This establishes
the right to life. And also the sanctity of marriage.
Do not commit adultery. Now this would include forbidding
fornication, it would include forbidding pornography, it would
include forbidding perversion, but sanctity of marriage, do
not commit adultery. Property, do not steal. Plainly,
right to own property is written into the Ten Commands. Truth, you have the right to
be protected from slander and from gossip and from libel. Do
not bear false witness. This gives the authority, the obligation to
government to protect people from being slandered, libeled,
and people being gossiped against. And the only restriction on your
conscience is do not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.
And of course, do not commit idolatry. So that's why you've
got freedom of conscience. There's a wide range of things
that are covered by freedom of conscience. Every command has
a prohibition, and every command includes an implicit right, like
freedom of worship, the right to know God's will and to do
it, freedom of speech, the right to work and to rest, respect
for authority, the right to life, the sanctity of marriage, private
ownership of property, the right to be protected from slander,
and there's freedom of conscience. So all of this is in the Ten
Commands. Our Lord summed up the second tablet of the law,
our duty to man with, do to others as you want them to do to you. How do you love your neighbor?
Do to them what you'd want them to do to you. Don't steal his
life. Don't steal his wife. Don't steal his property. Don't
steal his good name and reputation by slander. Do not be jealous,
envious, or covetous of your neighbor. That's how I love my
neighbor. Many would ask, what does the law have to do with
eternal life? Well, Galatians 3.24 says, the law was our tutor
or schoolmaster to bring us to Christ that we might be justified
by our faith. Our Lord Jesus Christ expressly
affirmed the eternal validity of God's law. Do not think I've
come to destroy the law of all the prophets. I didn't come to
destroy it, but to fulfill it. Assuredly, I say to you, heaven
and earth will pass away, but not one jot, not one tittle,
not the slightest stroke of a pen will by any means pass from the
Lord till all is fulfilled. Therefore, whoever breaks one
of these least commands, teaches men so, will be least in the
kingdom of heaven. How much clearer could the Lord make it? The law
of God applies today. I say to you, unless your righteousness
exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and the Pharisees,
you shall by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. So plainly,
the law of God applies today. And Jesus said, if anyone loves
me, he will obey my teaching. Our Lord summed up the Ten Commandments.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with
all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And
you shall love your neighbor as yourself. How do I love God
with all my heart? Well, worship God alone. Don't
bow before idols. Don't take God's name in vain.
Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. The first tablet of
the Lord tells you how to love God. The second tablet of the
Lord tells you how to love your neighbor, by not stealing his
life, by not stealing his wife, by not stealing his property,
by not stealing his good name and reputation, and by not being
jealous and envious of him. The law of the Lord is perfect,
converting the soul. The statutes of the Lord are
trustworthy, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord
are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord
are radiant, giving light to the eyes. Now, I've written a
book, The Ten Commands of God's Perfect Law of Liberty, where
I summarize each of these commands. And I deal with one sermon a
Sunday, dealing with each of the commands. And it's a wonderful
way to do pre-evangelism, to get to people's conscience, to
prepare people, but also to disciple people in how we should behave
after we are converted. And there's not enough emphasis
on law, but the law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.
What converts the soul? The law of the Lord. It's a schoolmaster
that leads us to Christ, that we can be justified by faith.
How then can so many Christians claim that God's law doesn't
apply today? Have you heard people say that?
The law of God doesn't apply today? Has anyone heard someone
teaching that, maybe on TV or something? Yeah, I've heard it. Well, Are we free to worship
other gods? No. Can we bow before idols?
No. May we take God's name in vain?
No. May we desecrate the Lord's Day and dishonour our parents?
Surely not. May we kill pre-born babies through abortion and old
and infirm through euthanasia? Definitely not. May we commit
adultery or steal or lie or covet? No. Which of these commandments
may we break without fear of serious consequences? It's like
the law of gravity. If you wander off the side of
the table, you're going to fall. Gravity is not just a suggestion.
It's the law. You break yourself on the law
of gravity. The law of gravity is not going to be broken. You're
going to break yourself. God is not a permissive God.
He didn't give us the 10 suggestions. He gave us the 10 commandments.
Jesus said, do not be afraid of people who can only kill the
body. And after that, they can do nothing more. Rather fear
God who can destroy both body and soul in hell forever. That's
whom we should fear. This is an interesting portrait
in Switzerland at Lausanne, Palace of Justice. It's called Justice
Lifts the Nations. And this shows you the people
of the city of their arguments, their disagreements and their
complaints. And here's the two sheriffs standing
with a double-edged hand and swords waiting for instruction. And here the elders of the city
looking to Lady Justice for wisdom. Now, there's Lady Justice statues
all over America and Europe, but in America, they're always
blindfolded. The Americans want the Lady Justice blindfolded
for some reason. In Europe, Lady Justice is not blindfolded. She
can see. And she's got a sword. Now, they always have a scale
of justice to weigh the evidence in one hand, and they have a
sword in the other hand, double-ended sword. And normally, the sword's
pointed upwards, So she's weighing the scales
of evidence and she's pointing to the Holy Bible, the open Bible.
And the elders are looking to justice to determine how to respond
to these complaints in the foreground. This is a very meaningful illustration
of what biblical justice is all about. Only God can produce lasting
justice and righteousness. In individuals, in families,
in churches and in nations, only to the degree that people fear
God and obey his commandments can society function for the
good and the freedom of all their citizens. Honest and hard work
abounds when God is being feared. Sound economic practices flow
from the fear of God. You know, I've been in Switzerland
where you're driving along the road and there's a farm stall.
There's this farm store, there's nobody there. They've got the
farm products out on the table, there's a shade over it, and
there's prices on a box. You put the money in or take
the change needed to get the farm items. Nobody's there to
watch, it's assumed you're going to be honest. I've been to game
reserves there in Switzerland and so on too, where they've
got an honour box. You've got to pay to enter, but there's
just a box, and you put the money in for how much it costs to enter
this game reserve. They don't have someone there
to supervise and open the gate. You are trusted to honour this,
and think how much cheaper everything becomes when you don't need to
worry that everyone's going to steal. There are even shops where
you can help yourself and pay on the way out, and there's nobody
supervising. Can you imagine? That wouldn't work in a society
where people want to steal. You've got to have people who
fear God and have faith in Christ to not steal. Adherence to God's
law would result in respect for God, respect for people, respect
for property, respect for creation. A society where you would love
your neighbor instead of fearing your neighbor. For the nation
or kingdom that will not serve you will perish. It will be utterly
ruined. And we are seeing societies ruined
because of the lack of integrity, lack of fear of God, lack of
love for neighbors. Blessed is the nation whose God
is the Lord. Imagine being one of the children
of Israel coming out of Egypt and You've got the pillar of
fire at night. Now a desert can be very cold
at night. I've been in a desert at night. Very cold. You'd want
to be as close to that heat as you could be in the middle of
night. And in a day in the desert, you'd want to be as close to
that cloud, in the shadow of that cloud, as possible because
the heat in the day is so bad. And the Lord led by a pillar
of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Doesn't it
make sense? You'd want to be close to God.
under that shadow by day, close to the fire by night. Blessed
is the nation if God is the Lord. When something is repeated in
the scripture, its emphasis is important. Loving God, loving
his name, loving his word, loving his law is mentioned 88 times
in the Bible. It is important to love God and
to love his name, to love his word. 88 times it's mentioned.
Trusting in God, trusting in his word occurs 91 times. It's
seriously important to trust God. Do you trust God? But do
you know there are 278 references in the Bible to fearing God?
You read of the fear of God more times than any other aspect of
devotion, even more than loving and trusting God. The fear of
the Lord is the most basic, fundamental attitude of our faith. By the
fear of God we mean the reverential awe, respect of God. Any view
of God which doesn't lead us to fear God cannot be biblical. For example, I've been in the
army, and we feared our commanding officer, our commandant, and
rightly so. As a soldier, I was a basic private,
a rifleman, and when you heard of commandant's inspection, you
made sure everything was polished. The commandant's going to walk
through your bungalow, he's going to look at your bed, your rifle, your kit. your trommel, your trunk, your
cupboard. Everything has to be polished, clean, perfect. Even
the dustbins were polished to a shine that you could look at
them like a mirror. The bathrooms, polished, shine.
Everything was clean, spotless, perfect. We feared our commanding
officer. We wanted to please our commanding
officer. We did not want to incur his wrath. I mean, he could bring
all kinds of punishment upon all of us. We could all be out
there doing fast break, 8.4 kilometer runs with full kits carrying
big tires and poles and huge drums, and there's so many things
he could do to make our life difficult. But he could give
us a pass and leave, an extra leave, and he could authorize
all kinds of good things for us too. You wanted his favor,
he didn't want his anger. And so there was a respect for
our commanding officer. Well, God is far greater than
any commandant of any military base. We should fear God more. You think you're going to a job
interview, you might feel a bit of fear and trepidation. You
might go to the bank manager for a loan. You might be dressing
in your best and you might feel some fear. You might go for a
doctor's interview and you might actually fear the doctor what
he might say. We should be more respectful, more reverential
and in awe of God than we are for any of these human authorities,
however insimilating they might be. That's what we need for our
society to work. The law of the Lord is perfect,
converting the soul. Psalm 19, verse seven. Great
and marvelous are your deeds, O Lord God Almighty. Just and
true are your ways, O King of the ages. Who will not fear you?
O Lord, bring glory to your name. You alone are holy. All nations
will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts
have been revealed. Revelation 15 makes it clear.
Because we fear God, we should worship him. Unless we as individuals,
as families, as congregations, as communities, and as a nation,
unless we return to God's word, we're doomed to suffer the inevitable
consequences of humanistic situation ethics, which is escalating sexually
transmitted diseases like HIV, inflation, unemployment, increasing
corruption, crime, and violence. We've got a choice. It's God's
law or it is chaos. It's that simple. There's the
broad road that leads to destruction or the narrow way that leads
to life. It's a choice before each one of us. And every day,
we have got to choose to obey God. We've got to choose to resist
the devil. God resists the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.
See, I've set before you today life and prosperity, death and
destruction. Love the Lord your God. Walk
in his ways. Keep his commands, decrees, and laws. Then you will
live, and you will increase, and the Lord your God will bless
you in the land. Deuteronomy 30. the very verse that Thabo
Mbeki ordered burned, because it so offended him at the gates
of Parliament. And so we are on a journey. There's
the broad path that leads to destruction, there's a narrow
path that leads to life. It is appointed unto man once to die
and after that to face judgment. The wage of sin is death, but
the free gift of God is eternal life. So we need to recall every single
day What path am I on? We need to warn other people
about this too. You can visit our website www.frontlinemissionsa.org
and this audio and video will be placed up there too. I've
written a book, Biblical Principles for Africa, which covers a lot
of practical principles of biblical principles, economics, crime
and punishments, education, justice, many issues like that. Unfortunately,
at this moment, the book's only available in French and in Afrikaans,
but we'll have to reprint the English one soon. These books
cost a lot of money. We struggle. Trust the Lord for
when we can afford to print this, but we've already printed 40,000
of these. They're popular all over Africa,
but we've got to get more. The Ten Commandments books are
available for those who have got a limited amount. So if somebody
can come to me and quote the Ten Commandments, I'll gladly
give you a copy for free. Ten Commandments, you don't have
to give it every word, just a summary. Worship God alone. Do not bow
before idols. Do not take God's name in vain. Remember the Sabbath
day to keep it holy. honor your father and mother,
do not commit murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal,
do not lie, do not take, do not bear false witness against your
neighbor. I mean, even my three, four-year-olds can recite that.
God's perfect law of liberty. So we've got other books like
Reforming Our Families, others that you can get from our bookshops.
These are just some of our resources and helpful materials.
