Heart Broken Fury

140 ( 98 | 42 )

This week we consider chapters six and seven of Ezekiel where we learn more of the Lord's plans of judgment against his own people. After generations of sin and centuries of long-suffering patience the Lord must act according to his covenant promises and character so that they will know he is the LORD, who does not speak in vain.
For God's covenant people, both then and now, his slowness to anger and divine forbearance are not reason for complacency in our sin. Instead, they provide us with the opportunity for repentance and turning from our sin and idols. Behold, the day of the Lord is coming! "Therefore, beloved.., be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the patience of our Lord as salvation." This we do, through faith in Christ our Saviour, who "was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace."
