Acts 2, verse 23, the Bible says, "'Ye men of Israel, hear these words, Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know. Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken and by wicked hands have crucified and slain, whom God hath raised up having loose the pains of death, because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved. Therefore did my heart rejoice. and my tongue was glad, moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope, because thou wilt not suffer my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine holy one to see corruption." So the Lord Jesus Christ, we know, we spoke about this this morning, he is alive forevermore, he defeated death. And so when someone dies, their soul ends up in hell if they're lost. Jesus Christ, when he died, he ended up making a trip not to suffer at all in hell. He took care of all of our sins on the cross, but he has the keys and he has the power over death and hell, and so he passed right through, did a little preaching, and he did some gathering of some Old Testament saints when he passed through paradise, and boom, he's up from the grave, he arose. That's our Lord Jesus Christ, and we talked about we have that resurrected power of the begotten one. The body goes in the grave, someone's body, and so the body is what knows corruption. Everybody understands that very clearly. The soul doesn't know corruption in that sense because it lives forever in one of two places. And we understand that doctrinally. But the body is going to corrupt. Look at Matthew 10. Matthew 10 verses 28. Matthew 10 verse 28. Jesus' long, long dissertation, Matthew 10, is essentially all Jesus' words. I know He's the eternal God. All of them are His words. But you see, if you have a red-letter Bible, it's practically the entire chapter. In verse 28, Jesus says, "...and fear not them which killed the body." Someone could kill your body today. but are not able to kill the soul. They can't touch your soul. So praise the Lord for that. And Jesus goes on to say, but rather fear him, which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. And so we say, well, wait a minute. I thought the soul goes to hell. What about the body? Well, the body's corrupt in the ground, but when a lost person dies, it's not like their body goes, Wait, so what's all this about? Their body goes into the grave, their soul ends up in hell. The soul doesn't annihilate at death. The soul lives on. It says not able to kill the soul. And look, the soul is immortal and the soul, everyone's soul is going to survive their body at death. So this verse, when it says, but rather fear him, which is able, watch it, to destroy both soul and body in hell. Jesus isn't teaching that the soul will be done away with. What Jesus is teaching is the soul will be brought to a point of destruction. So a Jehovah's Witness or someone who doesn't believe in life after death or doesn't believe in a soul burning in hell, literally, with literal flames, a little fire, will use a verse like this and say, see, your soul, it's just destroyed. And they'll define it as, well, it's just annihilated. It's just been done away with. That's what they'll do with a verse like this. But the destruction here in its context, it's a place of eternal destruction, of eternal torment. It's a place where that destruction is going on. It's heaped upon someone over and over. It's just a heaping of it. And what Jesus is saying, he says, look, I am able to do that. So you better not fear anybody else. but me because I am the one that is able to heap mounds and mounds on destruction. That's Jesus. But if the soul ends up in hell and the body ends up in the grave and here we're seeing the body and soul in a place that would lead us to understand that there is going to be a resurrection not only of the saints of God. We talked about that last week, I believe. We're bodies. We're going to have an incorruptible body. Well, there is going to be a resurrection of the lost of their bodies. So that's why I'd like to get some help from the Word of God tonight. Let's continue the thought in Revelation 20. There is going to be a resurrection of the lost. And in Revelation 20, We'll look at verse number 11, Revelation 20, verse 11. The Bible said, and I saw, back up one verse, and the devil that deceived them was cast in the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and they shall be tormented. day and night forever and ever. So this destruction or this tormenting here gives further clarity. It's not a, okay, you're destroyed, you're annihilated. That's not it. It's a torment day and night forever and ever. Verse 11, I saw a great white throne and him that sat on it from whose face the earth and heaven flood away. And there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead small and great, stand before God. And the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead, which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. When somebody dies, death is what receives someone's body. This is what death is in the context here. And the sea gave up the dead. Okay, that's the body and death, that's the body. Death receives someone's body. Are you saved? Death is gonna receive your body, the grave. Are you lost? Death is gonna receive your body. You're going to a place, saved or lost, your body when you die is gonna go to the same place in a grave. The soul survives death. And so for a lost person, hell is what receives the soul. Believer's body is resurrected before the millennial kingdom. 1,000 years, Christ is going to reign on the earth, right? Before that happens, we, the saved, will have a resurrected, glorified body. When that happens, that is when our soul, if you've already died, that's when that person's soul, those dead in Christ, that's when their soul is going to reunite with their body, but their body isn't going to be corrupt. It's going to be now glorified. That happens before the millennial kingdom. But in verse number 12 of Revelation 20, it says, and I saw the dead small and great. Now, this is the lost person. The lost person won't receive a resurrected body until after the millennial kingdom. Millennial kingdom, us before, they're going to receive a resurrected body at the end of the millennial kingdom. Look at verse 13, and the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them." Death on one hand, that's a container. Think of it as a container. Hell on the other hand, that's a container. The contents of those containers are now being delivered up. And this is the resurrection of the unjust. And they're going to stand before God just as they stood and lived on the earth. They're going to stand before God, and this is going to be God's white throne judgment. And this is the resurrection of the lost bodies that are in the grave. They're going to be resurrected. It's gonna be an awful day. Our resurrection will have already occurred. One is before the millennial kingdom, one is after the millennial kingdom. So with that said, go to 1 Corinthians 15. 1 Corinthians 15. Verse 51. 1 Corinthians 15 verse 51. Behold, I show you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible. Now look at the phrase, and the dead. The context of that is what? It has to be our body. For the trump shall sound and the dead or our bodies shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed. So the dead in verse 52 is the body. Your soul saved, right? Nothing is wrong with your soul right now. It's saved, it's secure. At our resurrection here in 1 Corinthians 15, in that moment, that twinkling of the eye, the last trump, for the trump shall sound and the dead shall be raised incorruptible. That's referring to our bodies that will be in a grave. And the dead, so that's the container there, is the grave, death, the grave, the body. And that is when, you cross-referenced this in 1 Thessalonians 4, it's when Christ will call up His church. And those dead in Christ shall be raised first, right? So the dead being raised, it's in reference to that container, that grave. Death is the grave in the context. So we have to understand that. Now keep reading here in verse 53. For this corruptible, that refers to the body, must put on incorruption. And this mortal, Our bodies are mortal. In other words, it is heading toward, it's subject to, it's destined to die. Our bodies are mortal. It's destined to die. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. Verse 54, So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up, in victory. Christ catches away his church tonight. Death can't hold our body. It's going to be raised. Those bodies of believers that are in the grave, that corruptible is going to put on in corruption. Believers have a soul that is immortal. Believers have a soul that isn't going to die, and our souls right now are trapped in mortality. We're wrapped in mortality, a body that's heading for death. Look at verse 54 now. It says that death is swallowed up in victory at the end. And now look at verse 55. Oh, death. That's those already dead. Where is thy sting? O grave, O grave, that is those who have not yet died. Where is thy victory? In other words, some bodies will never hit the grave. Think about this for a second. 1 Corinthians 15, in verse 55, you've got two two people spoken about. At the catching away of the church, it's going to be, oh, death. Who is the, oh, death? It's the dead. It's the bodies that are already in the grave. Okay. Um, but then it says, oh, grave. In other words, there's mortal bodies alive that are heading toward the grave. Oh, grave, where is thy victory? You're not going to get the victory, grave, because I'm not going to the grave. I'm going to be caught up. And so you have two sets of believers in that passage, those that are death in the grave already and those that have mortal bodies that are heading toward the grave that haven't hit it yet. Both are going to be risen with incorruptible glorified bodies, those already in the grave and those that will never taste the grave. And we're going to be called up together to be with the Lord. All right, so we all get that, right? We all get that? Let's hold our finger in 1 Corinthians 15. We're going to go back to Revelation 20. And then we're going to finish in 1 Corinthians 15. And then we'll finish up the lesson. But we're going to go back to Revelation 20 for a second here. So in Revelation 20 verses... Go back to these verses again. Look at verse 11. And I saw a great white throne and him that sat on it. from the face of the earth, and the heaven fled away, and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God." And it doesn't matter if someone was rich or poor or what. If you're small, you're going to be there before God as a lost person. And you... Believers receive rewards, right? There's degrees of reward. In everlasting torment, there is also going to be degrees of punishment. We get rewards. Lost get degrees of punishment. Just peek back real quick at Revelation 11. Revelation 11, verse 18. And the nations were angry, and thy wrath has come in the time of the dead, that they should be judged. And thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants, the prophets, and to the saints. We get rewards. And them that fear thy name, small and great, thou shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth. We reward. lost some small, some great for wrath. These degrees of punishment are going to be there for those that have rejected Christ. Back to Revelation 20 and look at verse number 13. This is the resurrection of the unsaved. Verse 13, and the sea gave up the dead which were in it, and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them, and they were judged every man according to their works. Death and hell delivers up the dead. And this resurrection of the unsaved were folks who were not part of that first resurrection, that three-part harvest that we had already gone over that material. And so their bodies are going to come up from the dead, and they're going to stand before God, and at that white throne judgment, that is where they are going to be judged. And then after that judgment, watch what happens. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. Where's their body? in a grave. The grave is called death. Where's their soul? In hell. Two different containers. One container for the body of the lost. One container for the soul of the lost. Verse 15, and death and hell That body and that soul are now cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. We'll finish up in 1 Corinthians 15. Lost. Their bodies are going to be resurrected. Death. They're coming out of the grave. Death. Their soul is now going to come up with their body at that resurrection. Their soul is going to meet that body. Hell. Their soul came out of hell. Their body came out of the grave. This is the resurrection of the lost. And what God's going to do is He's going to cast both the body and the soul is going to now be cast into the lake of the fire. But you have two containers for the lost when they die. Us, Container yeah, we dead lost or safe same container grave casket dirt ground But our resurrection our judgment is going to be for rewards It's going to be before the Millennial Kingdom our soul and our bodies meet and then we're forever to be with the Lord Resurrection of that of the just of the lost happens after the Millennial Kingdom. Okay. Yeah grave coming out Yeah, okay soul coming out of hell. They're gonna come together and God's gonna say I'm dumping both of y'all into the lake of fire It's an awful time, it's an awful time, but there is going to be that resurrection of the lost. And so that is the soul and the body now eternally, eternally tormented. We'll finish in 1 Corinthians 15 and that'll be it for this afternoon. 1 Corinthians 15, look at verse 22. For as in Adam all die, and even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order, Christ the firstfruits, afterward they that are Christ's, it is coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father, when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and all power, for he must reign till he hath put all enemies under his feet. So we understand this, the church is caught up, we know our body now will be glorified, our soul meets our body, we get caught up to be with the Lord, and then God's going to deal seven years with the nation of Israel for their purification, Daniel 9, and we know that great time of Jacob's trouble is going to happen. And then afterwards, we're gonna come back with Christ and we're gonna rule and reign for a thousand years. During that 1,000 years, All rule, all authority, all of it is put under Christ's feet. He is ruling. Nobody will conquer Him at all. The reign of man is essentially shut down. There will never again be another inauguration day. In the Millennial Kingdom, it's Christ. He is ruling. No one else will have an inauguration day. He's been inaugurated. That is it for a thousand years. But with that said, during that 1,000 years, at the end of it, there's still one more thing that has to be conquered. Verse 26 tells us, look at verse 26, the last enemy that shall be destroyed is what? Death. That's the last enemy. This is why during the Millennial Kingdom, Christ rules everybody and everything's under his feet. But when Satan is loosed, he's gonna gather an army, they're gonna go after him. He's ruling, man, it's beautiful, perfect rule, but there's still one enemy that Christ has to defeat. And that happens at the close of the millennial where death and hell now, he cast them into the lake of fire. And that's that verse 26, that's referring, all of that's coming together at that resurrection of the lost, where their body meets their soul, and death and hell now He defeats and casts into a lake of fire. So, just a little difference on, look, we know what's happening to our bodies. A lot of times we don't think about what's happening to the lost because, well, we're not lost anymore. We're just glory in what we have coming, but there is that distinction. So one resurrection of the body happens before the millennial kingdom, and then the resurrection of the lost, those bodies happen, and they're judged at the white throne judgment that happens after the millennial kingdom. So just meeting that out, and I think we got a hold of it.
