Grace and peace from God, our
Father, through Jesus Christ, our risen ruling, one day soon
returning Lord and the only Savior, brothers and sisters and good
evening, friends. For today's Wednesday in the
Word, I'm going to be reading a short prayer. Well, it's actually a more lengthy
prayer for President Trump and Vice President Vance and truly
all those elected to represent us as civil magistrates in the
United States of America. Almighty God and merciful Father
of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, blessed be your name,
for you are the God of heaven. As Daniel prayed, so do we. Let
your name, God, be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power
belong to you. It is you who changes the times
and the epochs. You remove kings and establish
kings. You give wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding.
It is you who reveal the profound and hidden things. You know what
is in the darkness, and the light dwells with you. To you, O God
of our fathers, we give thanks and praise. God, we know there
is no authority except from you, and those which exist are established
by you to be rulers who are not a cause of fear for good behavior,
but for evil. And we know, Lord, that fear
of proper authority is to remind us that you are the sovereign
over our lives. So help us to do what is good as citizens,
and we pray for those who govern, that they would depend on you
and your wisdom and truth. May these men serve humbly as
those who understand they are ministers of yours, O God, to
do us good. We pray we do not do evil, but
good. And pray the civil magistrates
you've appointed to do not bear the sword for nothing. May they
truly understand they are each a minister of yours, O God, an
avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. We praise
you for the sanity of hearing the president declare the truth.
There are two genders, two sexes, male and female. In accord with
Genesis 1, 26 and 28 and other scriptural texts and obvious
common sense, truth, reason and science, general revelation and
special revelation. We pray that policy would continue
to reflect this reality that is good and from you. We pray
that President Trump and J.D. Vance and others around them
might be consistent on this as well. Please allow these civil
magistrates of our nation to pay homage to the son, Jesus,
our Lord, now and increasingly throughout their tenure. Oh God,
please surround them with those who fear you, who are competent
counselors and wise men, advisors, so their plans succeed. We pray
as your word commands for all who are in authority, so that
we might lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity
in accord with 1 Timothy 2.2. May we, your church, honor you,
O Lord, above all, and hold to your word and the gospel, seeking
first your kingdom without shame, according to Matthew 6.33. May
we be more devoted to faithful, humble, bold gospel proclamation,
because the days are evil. Help us to be more zealous and
appropriately committed to adorning the gospel through the good deeds
you have called us to walk and since before the foundation of
the world, as you tell us in Ephesians 2.10. We ask and pray
you'd be gracious and protect our nation, the people of our
nation from all enemies, foreign, domestic, internal, and external,
spiritual, and earthly. We pray for the salvation of
many of our fellow citizens who are neighbors and friends who
are far from you and without hope and without Christ. Draw
them, God, we pray. Convict them by your spirit and
through your word. For many other fellow citizens who are your
chosen children, trusting in Christ alone, please bless and
protect them from sin, false teachers, evil ideologies, and
wolves who hate you. Protect all of us who are your
chosen children in this nation from all manner of unholiness
and unrighteousness. May we not be lazy or naive or
careless in our own efforts to be and make disciples of the
Lord Jesus. Please exalt Christ, the Lord, the only Savior all
across this nation. Please grant all across our beloved
nation true revival and renewal, new birth by your spirit, sound
conversion, sincere repentance of sins, the gift of faith in
Christ, the joy of new life, baptism, the new life. commitment,
accountability, submission to true local churches and church
officers, a commitment to your saving gospel and your sufficient
scriptures, and a zeal to live all of life unto all of Christ.
Please end the horrific, utterly detestable, totally unjust, and
wicked practice of child murder that is abortion, Father. We
hate this child's sacrifice to false gods, so please make efforts
succeed to abolish this stain across our nation. Please refrain
and even end or restrain, Lord, and even end the other wicked
things glorified in our nation by so many still we pray against
the love of money, the praise of sexual perversions and abominations,
the casting off of a refusal to enforce righteous laws. any
hatred of others based on God-given good differences, male-female,
the bribery of corruption, double standards in lawfare against
law-abiding citizens. We grieve in our trouble that
some near the president and vice president seem to hold these
falsehoods and sinful airs. So we pray their foolish voices
would be silenced and influence increasingly marginalized by
all in our nation. May we do our part in praying,
preaching, planning, supporting efforts that would honor you.
Yet first and foremost, God, help us to be your people, O
God. Help us to seek first your kingdom and your righteousness,
to live fully to your glory according to the whole counsel of your
word, and step with your spirit. Help us, God, to love you supremely
and love one another sacrificially in a way that honors you. Help
us, God, not be distracted or foolish. We confess our sins
to be short-sighted, and we need you greatly, even more than we
know. So help us, please. Be glorified among us and through
us as your blood-bought people. Thank you for the many blessings
and gifts and mercies you have given to our nation. We know
every good gift comes from you, from your hand, Father, according
to James 117. So we thank you. We give you the glory today.
Even as we entrust all these things to you in the name of
our crucified, risen, reigning, one day returning Lord Jesus.
Amen. Well, brothers and sisters, I
hope this prayer encourages you and blesses you. You can also find
it on band. And again, what this was, was
praying the Bible by and large. It's such an important exercise
for all of us to pray the Bible, to read the scriptures, to take
them in, and to pray them back to God. And honor the Lord. And
let us be a praying people who continue to pray and trust all
things to the Lord in prayer. He is good. He is faithful. He
is kind. He invites us to call upon Him.
And indeed we must and we should. We are dependent upon Him for
everything. And so let us cry out to Him with confidence that
He is the God who hears our prayers and loves us. May the Lord bless
you and keep you. God bless, brothers and sisters.
