Mary is clearly one the greatest heroes of Christmas, her unwavering obedience to the angels Gabriel's commands is unequaled in scripture. Mary unmistakably states that she needed God to perform the task placed before her, and by calling herself a handmaid reveals her great humility and dependence on the Lord, a trait that all who would be great for God must have.
